Trouble is, the one's that can afford the food and alcohol despite price increases are actually decreasing in number and therefore making less profit.

Try selling them cheaper and more people would buy and perhaps even buy a lot more than one or two. Someone has to be brave and roll the dice, take the risk and try it.

Food and beverage have long been a major complaint from people going to Westpac over the years and although some of the menu has certainly improved and the introduction of Craft beer, it still is a concern. Not every person drinks craft beer. As a driver I drink fizzy. Originally they used to sell 600 mil cokes for $4.00, then about three seasons ago, they dropped down to the 400 mil bottles for the same price. Now that price has gone up. I can buy a 1.5 litre bottle of cold coke from my local dairy for $4.00. 1.1 litre more coke.

A coke has gone up from $4.00 to $4.70 and worse still, Fritz Weiners have gone up from $8.50 to $9.50 in the last two weeks? Only noticed because at the last game prior to this one I did not buy either. So they are both now consigned to the too expensive bin. I wonder if others feel the same.

I noticed the increase in Fritz's Weiners! Has anyone wondered why the nix parking is $30 and yet the fee for parking at a Lions match is only $15??

Its $15 if you have a Nix membership and arrive 30mins before kick off

however the advertised price for the non-members etc is $30, not the case for the non-member rugger fans. Just saying that once again the pricing of all things at nix games is still an easy excuse for the non members to say "too expensive"

$10 for a Garage Project vs $10 for a Carlsbert/Export 33.

We get a great deal now, and people are buying accordingly.

Great comparison, but $10 for a small plastic cup of a drink of any description is daylight robbery, no wonder people stay home.

You can take in a clear plastic bottle and fill it up with water for free. You are there for the football right...?

I thought you can take in your own, sealed drink these days?

The last time I tried I had to throw it out or drink it outside the gates so I haven't tried since.

If this has changed then I'm pretty happy about that.

Food and drink

Patrons can bring the following items to the Stadium:

  • Sealed or empty clear plastic water bottles up to one litre in size are permitted through the gates (please check individual events that may have their own terms & conditions).
  • Empty plastic water bottles may be filled in the Stadium Concourse from water outlets located at Aisles 2, 6, 9, 11, 23, 25, 28 and 32. The one litre size restriction applies.
  • Small amounts of food for personal consumption, such as sandwiches, fruit, chippies, cakes etc** contained in one small bag per ticket holder. Note the bag must be soft-sided and fit under your seat.

I've never understood comments like this.

It would be like if someone complained about the prices of coffee in the city going up and someone critiqued that with "does your work have taps, you're in the city for work right?"

Personally a couple Fritz weiners, a Fanta and the football was what justified a 3 hour round trip for every home game.

Every couple of dollars on every elements slowly adds up for some people.

it's saying that $10 is a terrible price whether it's garage project or not. Export 33 would be overpriced at $1

If cost was such an issue you could, like I do, have plunger coffee at work - or if you have no taste buds - instant coffee.

Unfortunately the stadium is not so flexible. I did see, when my bag was being checked, others having their sealed sports drinks not being allowed into the stadium - not sure if that is policy specifically for the Phoenix or not.

People willingly pay $10 for a Garage Project all over the city, so by definition, that is a fair price.

Not the same thing - it is the going rate, not a fair price.

Well, Wellington mostly serves hipsterish beers from the local craft brewing scene, $10 is actually on the cheap side.

A couple of years back I bought a glass of bog standard foreign brand but made here lager at a bar in Cuba Street - $14!!!!!! I just about fell over. More an indication of how little I got out than anything else. How can out afford to go out on the piss with those prices? no wonder the kids pre-load.

I can buy a can of Ukranian beer for $2.79 in Pak n Save and it's a decent tasting brew. And no it is not made from Chernobyl distilled water even though my wife says I glow in the dark.

I'm guessing he means the price of a plastic 330 ml cup of Garage Project shouldn't be directly compared with a pint glass of it.

A pint for $10 is one thing, a 3rd of that size for $10 = a fool and his money easily parted, ie: a Rip Off.

no way is it a third of the size of a pint. I’d even say it’s about the same size.
