If the club are disappointed with the attendances elsewhere around the country, perhaps having every game in Wellington and trying to build a bigger fan base might be the answer? Having a home game every other week would be better than on, an 5 week gap, another, 4 week gap etc etc.

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

It depends on what the sponsorship deals are too.

If a large amount hinges on them playing around the country that may tie their hands.

If that were the case, you'd have to question the wisdom of signing up to that type of deal.

If it keeps the club afloat I'd say its wiser than only playing home games here and going broke.

Also appears to be the FFA metrics.

Dome has said before that they need a game in Auckland from a commercial perspective. And Andrew gourdie was saying that they need two games commercially. So we may see two games in Auckland and none in Canterbury or Dunedin or whatever going forwards.

I reckon Tauranga over New Years could do alright. Maybe rotate the second game between several other centres but have Auckland every year.

If they do Dunedin again they better make sure its during uni semester time

Opens up the whole arguement again about staying at home, building the fan base rather than diluting it by heading on the road every 2 minutes and not allowing the home support to gain momentum.

The more urgent priority is ensuring we have a club - sure, I'd love nothing more than a game at the RoF at 5pm, every Sunday fortnight. But that's not going to happen, and if having 2/3/4 games on the road each year is what it takes, then bring it on!

My more pressing concern is the impact it has on the players. But again - the alternative impact (ie: not having a club), is much worse.

Understand the need to take games away but i just dont get how anyone at the Phoenix or the FFA can think its a good idea  to have the ridiculous  break between games in Wellington we seem to get every season. They cant expect to build any sort of following or up the metrics as long as they insist on keeping the Phoenix from there home ground for extended periods. Ernie has commented that its not ideal to have the players living out of suitcases for extended periods.

Last season was the worst but this season is not much better even without the Asian Cup.

Oh. I thought it was in the summer break for some reason. Screw Dunedin then. I'd take their stadium in Wellington though

The much maligned Forsyth Stadium would be perfect in Wellington for Football, Rugby, League and concerts. The playing surface is excellent, fans are close to the pitch. Access and car parking is excellent and cheap. Was $10 for anyone wanting to park there.
