1821...Thanks for the reminder
No mention of Fever Zone on the ticket. Looking forward to the usual Christchurch chaos re standing in front of sitting locals and that familiar Cantab greeting "Sit down!" :-)

Because we are predominantly a rugby watching crowd down here.

Our excitement at a particularly good pass is expressed through slight relaxation of the upper lip.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Can we get Yellow Fever T shirts made for Christchurch please with "No - Stand Up - It's the Yellow Fever Zone" on the back?

No, but the Nix/Ticketek are renaming the Fever Zone to "Yellow Fever Standing Area" for us. So it'll be printed on all the tickets and people will have explicitly clicked on Standing when purchasing.

... and so the seats in the YF Standing Area will now actually be a freebie thrown in. Cool.

I do not ever want to hear from anybody that your annual Christchurch trip is not value for money.

Either I didn't get allocated the YF Zone ticket which I should have or the tickets haven't been amended

Looks like I've been given good seats, Aisle 8 covered near the half way line, Fever Zone is in Aisle 10

Its Siggy's farewell game down south, so that might call for a special shirt?

No roof on the ends to reflect the sound, so guessing that is why it isn't there

Is it possible to just sit anywhere? This will be my first Christchurch game.

I'd imagine once the game kicks off you'll be free to move around.

The stewarding of the Zone was crap as well. The stewards didn't know where the Zone was, put us in the open stand with the proviso that if anyone complains about fans standing, then they'd have to sit down

This might be the opportunity for the YF HQ to engage with the stadium / security well in advance of the game.

Oh yeah, I remember that now too. We had to shift a whole bay to the right because one family complained and security threatened to throw us out.

We *always* do, but for some reason it doesn't make much difference on gameday.

In which case, I think we should refuse to move, refuse to sit down, and if we get thrown out then we should all leave. Make a point and get it resolved so it stops happening.

Fair call Brandon. Should I make it to the game, I'm with you on that. One would think after all the games we have played there that the security and indeed the locals have figured it out that we stand during the games. If they want to be rugby fans, go to a rugby game. You can tell them anyway, they start leaving at the 80th minute.

Sorry people but I am over these travelling circus games and getting dicked around. Even the game at North Harbour where we were standing, we were surrounded by fans sitting down. Why did we get allocated to an area where sitting was expected or why do people buy a ticket to be seen in the zone and also expect to sit down.

Are we really in a position to be turning away fans, even if they are rugby ones primarily?

Presume it is Ticketek hotline and Brenda to sort out the tickets?

Might see if we can sneak into the FZ for this game.

Keen for some random flares and Poznans.

Not suggesting we turn away anyone, just suggesting they should think before they buy their ticket. Everyone knows what the zone is about and if you want to sit down and watch the game, don't buy a ticket in the zone.

if everyone knows this it would not be an issue everytime we played out of Wellington

I don't think most people in Auckland or Christchurch or Napier have any idea there even is a Yellow Fever zone Andy, let alone what it is all about. I think the "everyone knows..." view is very much what it looks like from the inside looking out, but not from the outside looking in.

I think the only way to eliminate the problem is ( a ) making it VERY clear on the ticketing website i.e. with a pop up that only pops up once you've selected the Fever Zone that explicitly states "This section of the crowd is reserved for people who want to STAND UP for the duration of the game. Do not buy here if you want to sit down." and ( b ) Signage at the ground indicating that the bay is for standing and chanting, and ( c ) actually bloody briefing the security staff.

Yep.

If the average punter buys a ticket to an event at a stadium with seating I don't think it's unreasonable for them to expect to be able to sit down and have an unobstructed view.

Everyone on here knows.

Everyone that goes to Nix games at Westpac knows.

Many (probably most) of the people that go to Nix games outside of Wellyfornia do not fit into either category.

Not really going to help if the punters have already bought tickets in the zone and are expecting to sit.  bwtcf is right - point of sale messaging is really the only effective way of giving people realistic expectations.

Ticketek website clearly states that Fever Zone is standing only so anyone who wishes to sit there will only have themselves to blame

That's th FOURTH line in an extra condition hidden away. NO ONE is still reading by the fourth line.

I agree that legally people have agreed, but that is NOT the same as them understanding, and consequently showing up EXPECTING people to be standing.

They need a pop up that only diplays when people select the Fever Zone that explicitly states that these tickets are for a standing section, and which they have to click [OK] to accept and proceed to purchasing the tickets.

Ah, no, I actually disagreee with btcf on this.

A ticket represents a contract. If someone buys a ticket in the YF zone and then complains, then they should either be allowed to move or to get a refund and piss off home. They should NOT have the right to ask the security to go against FFA clause (condition) and demand the rest of the YF zone adjusts to them. It is the stadium security firm that probably does not get briefed properly to avoid this nonsense.

Reminds me a bit of the logic where someone buys a house next to a busy stadium and then regularly calls noise control on a match night.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

I am not saying they have the RIGHT. That's why I said yes, legally they have agreed.

I was saying that if people turn up unaware that it is a standing zone (even if they SHOULD be aware because they SHOULD have read all the terms and conditions) then there's still going to be a problem on the day. They might not be right, but they are still going to complain... and we'll still have to deal with the hassle.
