Yepp, liked his spell with us but man he's a nutter. That shoulder charge on Burns was ridiculous

Brockie with two great assists!!

We didn't try to put the game to bed and hung back for the last 20 minutes with a one goal lead. CC nearly made us pay (in fact should have, easier to score than miss that head) and we won't be able to do that against other teams.

Good to see Doyle come back with that good cross and generally put in a lot of work in defence.

I'd like to see Boyd in the mix somewhere. Think he'd have a lot to contribute up the park in this formation.

Think that Boyd for Brockie is a great shout if Ernie is worried he'd lose the 'movement' of Brockie (lol) by putting Kenny in there.

That parking the bus seemed very un Ernie to me, I thought he was all about the attack?

Can't do that, we don't have the defense and we could have very easily lost the game.

Agree, cant ease off especially against teams like Victory, Wanderers and Sydney. Can't afford that.

Don't think it was a plan. Just fell apart when Roly went off.

Man.. Sub off Doyle.

Kinda glad we didn't do that, since he laid on a SUPERB cross for the winning goal!

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Phoenix fans. We have to win them over one fan at a time.

just saw the highlights, brockie did something which was good. CCM certainly looked to have their chances but will happily take the 3 points!

Just saw the highlights, seemed just like a re-run of last week, the only difference being the opposition.

Average start, concede, consolidate and get back in the game, and then enduring a pretty lacklustre last quarter.

Happy with the 3 points away from home, but defence looks like it needs work if we're serious about making a statement in this league this season.

i have just watched the replay and focused on watching Alex (mainly because there are few people saying he has gone missing) and I think from the first half only that - he is a different type of midfielder from both Riera and Roly, he tends to be a very basic player - receive and play - not much creativity, but not many errors.  Defensively is def on the left hand side of center midfield, seems to be deeper than Roly but higher than Riera.  Potentially under instruction based on positioning to help Doyle out much more than Roly has been asked to help out Muscat.

In summary I think he isn't noticed very much because a lot of the good things he does are very standard and un-remarkable

I think that's the plan for him, but I don't think he did the simple things very well at all. Poor touches on many occasions, gave the ball away a bunch etc. Might be wrong though, didnt watch him as close as you!

i wasn't counting but there are three times i recall quite well when he gave the ball away - 1 with a poor touch and was tackled and two times he tried to put a ball through and it was cut out.

There were a couple of times he was a little timid on the tackle - but i guess that's compared to Muscat and Lia so maybe it's just he has a normal temperament.

Hopefully as Doyle get's settled and improves we will see more of Alex - if that's what is keeping him a little quiet of course.

Goota say hand on heart not the other thing you guys were the better side for most of the night ... if we continue in this form we are in for a long tough season...

We really must kick on next week and beat the Jets.  Pretty tricky few games ahead after that one.

You did. I'll tip the cap in your direction for that.

Steve-O, why did you say that?

Of course you can, that is exactly what you should do when ahead and near the end of the game - rely on the defence to protect your lead. Imagine the angst if we had continued an all out attack and conceded.....

Rapt about the win. 6 points from this opening sequence would have been a minimum, and now we have a chance to achieve that back home against the Jets. Thought they showed a lot of character to get out of the early hole, especially Doyle and those around him who supported him through it. We had much better shape for our good period after halftime, but agree that 20 mins out, was way too early to sit back and hang on. Better sides will bury us. Burns was outstanding and created so many problems for CCM. Lots to do. Same for most sides. But certainly wasn't a step back.

I think Moss holds quite a bit of the blame for Doyle's OG. He came flying off his line, but was still beaten to the ball by both Doyle and the CCM striker. There was no reason to do that and if he'd hung back he could have just hoofed Doyle's touch clear.

Thats what i thought when i saw it again,Doyles touch was light enough that had Moss stayed where he was it would have been a simple clearance.Think Doyle did well to put that behind him and play an important part in the win. There are some players who having made the couple if mistakes he has would have gone right into there shell and ended up getting dropped.Good luck to him i like his style.

Agree, but he did pull off a couple of good saves later in the game and is Italiano really better on form?

Yeah, I'm not saying that Doyle wasn't to blame at all, just that Moss screwed up too. And Moss doesn't have the excuse of youth and inexperience

Yeah as he covered Doyle's position whilst Doyle was sorting his head out after scoring the OG.
