Nix at Blutongue Stadium P8 W3 D0 L5

If Brockie takes the field it will be his 50th game for the Nix.

CCM have 3 former Nix players on their books, Reddy, Cernak and B Griffiths.

Right the first game out of the way. Can the real Phoenix stand up against what was an utter shyte CCM side.

Same formation as the last game because I don't see Ernie making changes after game 1 unless there is injury and that includes Brockie? Cunningham is selectable again so one assumes he comes onto the bench for.......

It would not surprise me if McGlinchey is targeted and someone runs one up him early on. You heard it hear first.

Would it be Cunningham on the bench instead of Krishna? You'd imagine with the impact that Fenton made that he deserves to stay there.

Is Boyd injured? Should at least be on the bench in place of Lia.

A versatile Fenton in for Rodriguez and Krishna to start ahead of Brockie.

I think Ernie just wants to cover positions, the bench in the A-League is too small IMO, so we have only space for one out and out attacker on the bench. Fenton is lucky that he is now considered a utility that can play most positions on the right hand side of the park.

Cunningham seriously has to start. I don't know why anyone would leave him out. I think he has the best goal scoring rate of any of our players in the A-League and he sets them up too.

I would probably play Burns centrally and put Cunningham on the wing. Rodriquez deserves another shot, too.

I agree but isn't Boxall enough to do the job in defensive midfield. The way I look at it is we start with Bonevacia and Reira who should both play 90 most of the time. Replacing your DM isn't something you do often unless god forbid you are actually winning. I would rather Ridenton than Lia on the bench regardless. I think Kirshna has to be on the bench too - give him ten minutes and he can change things.

Krishna, Cunningham, Boxall and you need a point of difference. Fenton gives versatility so it has to be him. Sucks for Boyd as we have too many wide men that can be versatile and you have Fenton that can do that plus Krisha up top. Lia makes way for an import.

As long as we are able to play as well as we did from the 15th minuite for longer

I think it's a cost-cutting measure, saves a few airfares for pine-riders

Not sure you are allowed to take your shirts off. Think there were issues  last season with security.

Just curious what would people think about Brockie playing as a target man with burns in behind him with free roam from wing to wing? Obviously Brockies got no pace anymore but I think with him playing central feeding off to Burns he might be alright rather than trying to get in behind himself. I personally would also like to see Fenton start at right wing. I think it was clear to anybody who watched the game that he made an immediate impact toward starting our passing game and that was only at right back.

                                        Brockie
Cunningham/boyd             Burns              Fenton
                Reira                            A-rod
Doyle         Sigmund              Durante          Muscat

Bench:   Roly, Boyd, Krishna, McG < (don't really feel he's quite match ready yet, just my opinion)

I would bring Cunningham or Fenton in and I would probably leave Gorrin out, play Roly in the centre.

Yeah I do recall hearing something about security being pricks about it last year. Think CCM apologised afterward. Though after the whole Wee Mac thing, they might do it again.

Fu*k it, just do it tbh.

To be honest, they'll evict me from the ground and ban me from Gosford well unless its a CCM V Nix final I won't be going back for years.

Give everyone another go. Maybe switch Doyle for Fenton if anything. One bad game, the result could've easily gone in our favour had a couple of flash points gone our way.

Yeah a few players played poorly, or made cock ups. Burns missed a one on one that would of absolutely changed the game yet no one is calling for his head. Mikey absolutely shelled one from out in front and apparently got Man of the Match.

Despite how the midfield (Roly & Roddy) underperformed we still could've easily taken that game, get them firing right and we'll be easy winners come Saturday.

Brockie out, Burns in the centre, Kenny out wide. Give Roly, A-Rod, and Doyle more time to settle. They're young and dropping them after one game might be too damaging to their confidence.

Reading back on comments on the Perth game before the day, most of us were generally agreed that the starting XI we saw was the right side.

We all thought that the pre season was well organised.  In fact we did not play many games of any real quality since the Football Utd stuff.  I honestly thought that the lads simply looked short of a gallop in the first half.  Roly, Gorrin, Mac especially are new to us and will need time to settle in.  We could have been (make that should have been) two up before they scored as well.

I would go with the same XI for CCM.  Changes if no marked improvement.  Lia off the bench for Cunningham.  Boxall provides cover at the back as well as DM.  Also I am sure it was said on signing that Roly can play at the back as well?

i think we should keep the same lineup. Give everyone a chance to redeem themself. Perhaps Kenny C in for Brockie, though..

A-Rod has better to come, I think.

Really? That is really stretching it thin. If this is the case then every single cross that results in a goal is the fault of Manny or Doyle. How about if the goalscorer had been marked? How about if Moss had saved it? In fact must be Moss' fault. He didn't save it *facepalm*

He gave the ball away in a dangerous area though. I remember cursing him at the time.

Re-watch the game, mate. He gave the ball away - remember cursing him also - which directly led to Nichols cross. Don't blame it on him not stopping the cross - though that  was his opportunity to make up for the stuff up.

I thought someone in the dug out was shouting "Mossy, Mossy give us a wave" when that cross went in for their first goal.

The way his arms were flapping around it looked like a wave. Sure Doyle was not marking his man tight enough and he will have learnt from that, sure Duro or Ben might've made a better effort at marking their man, Sure Moss could have made a much better effort at saving it but credit where it is due. The cross was pinpoint and their man got the exact touch on it that it needed and into the goal it went.

We still are not giving Perth the credit they are due. They played a good game. I would not bag our guys too much. Only the first game of serious competition that they have had. I'm hoping they learned a lot from it.What worked and what didn't.

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

I wasn't really having a go at Doyle by the way. I rate him. Just saying he did make an error in a dangerous position that led to the goal.
