Really is nothing to say sadly. Seems they just don't get it and the contempt they show their loyal fans is shocking.

If this is the difference between break even for the season and not, on a match that can't be played in Wellington, then Sydney is no different to Dunedin

Except based on the release Campbelltown is much more profitable.

Yes, yes it would be.

If anything, this is a masterstroke by Dome to white-ant the proposed new South Western Sydney expansion by FFA

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Sounds like Cambelltown is infinitely more profitable than anywhere else in NZ. If games like this are what keep the Phoenix afloat given the sharkhouse crowds that are turning up in Wellington, then I'm happy for it to happen.

I'd prefer 12 home games in Welly than zero.

Pretty happy with this call tbf, westpac is unavailable so take it where it will make some money. People would be complaining wherever they took it.

Personally Id prefer a Taranaki (But the stadiums bust), or Napier to travel but it doesn't look like it was an option so nothing wrong with the club making the best out of a awkward situation.

Just as long as they take Piney to Campbelltown to do commentary, I'm ok with this. Leave Fred at home.

That's it guys just roll over and let Welnix tickle your belly. Seems as long as they play the money card some are happy and just won't critisize them. Next you will have Welnix thinking well there wasn't much protest about that let's see how many home games we can play in Aussie as we don't lose money on them.

Been to Campbelltown once to watch a warriors game...probably one of the most feral places i've been.  Was a relief to make it safely back to the train and back to sydney cbd.

The welnix don't owe wellington a unsustainable football club in the a league.

Utterly frustrating decision, but then if there are no stadia in NZ that are available then what can the club do. It's frustrates the hell out of me that Wellington Stadium schedules events that force the Nix out! The big thing that pisses me off about the email that was sent out is the comment about moving games to Auckland and Eden park. Very clearly states that Eden park is profitable cos its a central city stadium therefore the crowd should be big - that's ridiculous! Has a game at Eden Park for the Nix ever been profitable?

That said, I am underwhelmed that welnix didn't try and divide and conquer by acknowledging the grand scheme of promoting #splitters since the thordon terrace follow home and away. They are trying to neuttalise the yellow fever power base., innit

You seem quick to get negative and criticise but whats your solution? what would actually have to happen to make you happy??

I dont know if you managed to skip all the rational behind it but the stadium isn't available, No other City in NZ stood up and said we can take it. So what is your suggestion?

so there are stadia available? But none of them will agree to the hosting terms? I'm only going by what Domey has said in his email. At the end of the day the club needs to get exposure for its sponsors, Huawei want at least one game in Auckland, the welnix crowd need to make money so I'm assuming they offer a game to another area if they pay hosting rights. If no other area is keen and Westpac is not available and the Welnix guys don't want to spend additional money setting up Hutt Rec for one game what are they supposed to do?

Request away games during the 2-3 week period the stadium is unavailable.

agreed, I expect they do, but we know what the FFA are like when it comes to doing favours for the nix. We get nadda from them.

Which is 100% the first step.  But just cause we request it, doesn't mean we get it.  Westpac is out for February, we can't get in there end of story.  So we ask for February to have 4 away matches and FFA laughs in our face.

Exactly, Welnix have no power when it comes to scheduling of games and with the current/historic anti-nixxers in the FFA we are never going to get any "help" when there are stadium clashes.

Personally I'd rather the "home away from home" games played where they make money. The Nix represent Sydney as much as they do Napier/Palmy/Auckland, so make the wise financial decision.

Completely behind this, if we have to move games.

It’d be nice for home fans to not need a passport to travel to home games.

The first Nix game at Eden Park drew 20,000. I don't know whether that was a profit but it wasn't a flop.

Exactly, if we can't play at the stadium I don't really care where we go.  If this is where we make more money and have the potentially bigger crowd then so be it.

Real shame that Dunedin's covered stadium was not an option. Its a great venue. Good size. It's not a cricket ground so stands are close to the field so it has good atmosphere. Would they have pulled a good crowd? I guess we will never know.

Super Rugby was probably the clash with there.

I'd love to pick that whole stadium up and put it in Waitangi Park

Would the students be back by then? Not worth bringing it to Dunedin if they're not.

oh yeah, probably profitable, pity that subsequent games there haven't been as well supported.

That game will be 1st(Nix) vs 2nd clash. Real hype around the club and you could fill stadiums all over the country, Instead we play in Sydney’s backyard. Sad.

Does anyone honestly believe they make money with this? It’s just another experiment.

I can see it being more profitable/making less of a loss than the Ring of Dirt/McLean Park/Eden Park for sure.

Yes they'll make money on it because they have a local group funding the exercise. Councils around NZ used to fulfill that part of the deal until they realised that nobody turns up to watch the Phoenix in their cities.

Maybe we should advertise the game as if Newcastle was playing here again - get Taylor in the promo shots and everything!!
