So back home at the ring of fire, City will have all there suspended players back apart from Bouzanis and I think we are without Dura due to 5 yellow suspension?

I think Finkler picked up his 5th yellow too?

If they don't want to be responsible for ruining another coaches career the team has to put in the effort and demolish city, if we're in the six it's probably going to come down to goal difference.

Yes your right, so both Dura and Finkler are out for this game. So should see Lowry and Roly back in the starting XI

When you look at that Mariners squad compared with ours, it's hard to believe that we are on the same points as them. I think they are overachieving with that squad, whilst we are the opposite. Not that the Wanderers or Adelaide are any better than us, but still. I think we should be challenging with Perth and City.

Aren't Silver and YF Zone both the same price? Just looking at individual tickets and they are both $25 for an adult

Hopefully a bigger turn out this week, my team is hosting a team from Picton in a friendly before drinking up large and busing in.

All up its a group of about 30 extras coming, many of them possibly for the first time, so hoping for a big performance.

Yes, but Mariners arguably have a better coach.

By that logic, Valkanis will be sharkting himself over Rodriguez scoring.

i heard back from ticketek and the $25.00 price was for students, the email i got was rather misleading as it just said "and just $25.00 to join the yellow fever zone" and nothing about it being for students only. i could be a dickhead and push for the $25.00 but $50.00 for 3 games and a friendly is still a very good price so i will leave it at that.

I hate to be the pessimist, but we've only scored 2 goals from open play in the past 450 minutes of football, and that was against bottom of the table Adelaide. (Goals against WSW, Sydney and Beijing were from two penalties and a corner). For such an impressive attacking line up on paper, it's a shame they haven't clicked yet with 8 games remaining... I'm expecting a game similar to that playoff defeat under Ernie.

You are spot one. ON paper we actually have a decent squad, but the reality is, there's something missing in the jigsaw puzzle and it just doesn't seem to be working.

I'm not convinced that on paper we do have that good of a squad. Sure, we have some good players but I don't think we're close to the top sides in that regard. And even with the players we have there's a difference between having good players and having a good squad. A good squad implies players that complement each other and that make sense as a cohesive whole - and we definitely don't have that. We can't fit all our supposed star players on the pitch at once without having guys out of position or playing a weird formation, or both.

I wouldn't have said Sydney's squad on paper was much, if any, better than ours but look what they are pulling off.

I'd say their players aren't that much better but their squad is, using my criteria above.

But Graham Arnold has the attitude (Like Muscat) that I have been banging on about. He wants to be number 1 and his team to be number 1 and it shows. Even in past seasons, he had the same attitude and although they might not have been in that 1st spot, they still had that thought process.

Muscat and Arnold also have far more resources to work with than we do.

Yes but their attitude costs nothing and it is a I want to win every game attitude and come first. I don't like Muscat but I can understand and respect why he is like he is and Arnold to a lesser extent.

Arnold did pretty damn well at CCM with limited resources

So CCM still had less resources to work with than most of their opponents but did better than them while Arnold was coaching. And as discussed above, in the current context Sydney's squad doesn't exactly look unbeatable on paper. I'd say both Melbourne sides would think they had better squads and maybe Brisbane as well

CCM was a "big" team then.

I should have explained that better.  Given the number of exceptions now available, it's going to be very difficult for team outside of the two Sydney and Melbourne sides to win the league. So even if you had the best coach at a lower resourced team, your chances of doing what Arnold did at CCM aren't as good. Really need to have some of those big four teams to have bad seasons (like that did when CCM were good).
