Greenie.

Then again, it could be both,

Clearly, time for me to finally listen to the pod :-)

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Fenton had had a really good year, but I still thought Rudan was high when he said he was one of the league's best in his position.

But, he's right - we've really missed Fenton these past 3 games. Williams did an admirable job last night, but he's not a patch on Louis in the role. And, it removes Willo from being dangerous elsewhere too.

I was happy with Mandi being dragged actually. He was clearly at fault for City's first, and generally played like the father of a newborn child - ah, wait a minute, he is...

These are the games we've been losing by a couple of goals in the past few, ok several at least, years.

It ain't over. COYN.

Thanks for posting what I was just about to write about Fenton   The Rudan haters in this thread clearly have not seen Louie until this season and do not appreciate the incredible turnaround, not just in overall fitness but also mindset and confidence of Louis Ferenc Puskas Fenton.  To a large degree that was part of Rudan's huge contribution to the team.

I love the over simplification, credit one person working with a player for 6 month when a lot of people are involved in this.

You forgot welnix giving him a contract when he was injured, Team Wellington let him play and train for the come back and Fenton himself for the mental strength to get back. You could also  credit Ernie to convert him into a right back. You could always see the potential and he was a pretty good player before.

Same oversimplification with Singh, left his family with 15-16 to join the WeNix academy, teenage boy without his Mum and Dad, rings a bell? Get thrown in pretty quick to train with the A-Team while attending school going to puberty etc. He is a long term project of a few people who believed in him and helped him to be the best he can be. And credit to him and mostly him to deal with it over all the years.

Rudan job is to look at those players and tweak them further, get the best out them that his credit.

Anyone know what the rules are around yellow cards come finals time.

Both Rufer and Dura are 1 yellow card away from a suspension. If they get a yellow in the last match vs Perth does this carry over as a suspension to the first knock out finals game?

Any suspension gathered next round would carry over to the playoffs.

I think we could get away with resting both of them, Golec for Dura and Burgess coming deeper for Rufer would work well imo.

Definitely should rest them if Adelaide win but will be a toss up if they don't

It was a great win in a game where MC had their chances, dominated in spells but sometimes in the past we have not had the luck when we were in the same position. So I'll take it. The dream is still alive. Ok, it might not happen but having a chance is better than mathematically not having any. We need to win in Perth and Adelaide need to lose or draw in Brizzie. On Thursday night I ask ALL Phoenix fans to be temporary Roar fans please. We need them to spring a BIG suprise and win.

As this was our last "Official Home A League regular" game, I'd like to thank the players, the coaches and the club and fellow fans for such a decent season. After last year, this year was so much of a pleasant surprise. As one whom tends to be more pessimistic than optimistic, I have to say that what we witnessed in some of our games was top shelf brilliant and was so pleasing to see players living up to their potential at last.

This squad has shown us all "What could be". Yes, we will lose some, but hopefully we will gain some good replacements. My only issue with Mark Rudan was I felt his timing was wrong with his announcement. He has been a breath of fresh air and instead of settling for 6th, he was aiming a lot higher and expected the players to as well. They sure did on occassions.

Thank You Mark Rudan

Thank You Players

Thank You my Fellow fans  for the usual fun and humour you all display at the games

Thank You David Dome for, as always, being approachable. Being in a no win situation cannot be great but then I work in one too.

Thank You to the Phoenix staff behind the scenes (Volunteers, a lot of them too) for trying to make things happen and keeping fans welcomed and positive.

For the first time in far too many years, I have really enjoyed the Phoenix experience. Let's do it, lets overcome the odds and nick it!

Next season, I'll be back. I hope my fellow users on here will also return. We need the club and the club need us. WELLINGTON Phoenix!!

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Honestly: I'm only back next season if it's not the last season. If it is, I honestly don't care what happens and I wouldn't give the FFA the satisfaction of contributing one eyeball to their "metrics".

You'll be back, D. I know it's been tough, but it's gonna get sorted. The Nix are a long term part of the A League. Besides, who will consistently step up to play the contrarian role on this forum if you're not here?

No guarantees for Nix in A League even if diminish FFA’s influence. State Federations not Phoenix fans

Disagree, they were the better team for the vast majority of that game. Had they been a bit more clinical, they'd have walked that game.

It's no secret that a number of state federations have been anti-NZ presence in the league pretty much since the league started.

It's also no secret that the State feds don't have very much money, and would like more.

My guess is that they will, during the process of negotiations, align themselves with Groucho Marx: "those are my principles and, if you don't like them, I've got others".

The new league will have to give them money, yes. The question is how much, and how you get to that figure is part of the reason why this is taking a while to resolve.
