Video ref has had a shocker there. The only reason rossi's hand went up is the Sydney player had his hands on rossi's shoulders. If you are going to check the handball, surely you have to check that too.

The question is, would Moss have saved it?

Bloody joke ref didn't even give it a thought until they all yelled at him

Defenders shouldn't ever have their hands up like that. It was asking for trouble. But yeah there was no attempt to zoom in to see if he actually touched the ball, just a quick knee-jerk decision.

If Kosta scores, I'll get pregnant and give birth

Roly should pay us back some of his fee for this year and throw in some heavy challenges before this finishes...

Keep this rugby/NRL replay bullshark out of football!

Sydney acting like a bunch of pricks, and to a man all running to the referee, even when we went up the other end.

This is what I feared will happen. You cannot ask for a replay/review but if there is an incident and then a subsequent reaction/protest with the referee and it comes to nothing, this VAR can suddenly jump into action. It's not asking for a review as such, but if you're basically screaming bloody murder to the referee, the guy in the VAR position is surely going to perk up and have a cheeky look for the fudge of it.

Not excusing Rossi, pretty poor effort, but F U C K me, if this is the future of our game, I don't want any part of it.

Might as well get rid of ref's altogether and have some Aussie dickhead reffing from the stands, blowing the whistle over a fudgeing intercom every time there's a tackle or moment of contention.

If it was so clear, why was it not called in the first place?

Am back and it would seem that just like my brief interlude with her indoors that there was a handball, a break and a shot sprayed wide at the other end. No VAR in use in the boudoir though

Gillet saw it and realised he was a biased and incomeptent Twunt and didn't say anything.

Not the result we wanted but no complaints from me. That was a fantastic effort by the boys to foot it with Sydney.

If we win our next game with a higher GD than perth and if they lose both their games we can still get top 6.

We squandered chances and attacks. Can understand why Ernie had a no long shots policy- those misses hurt in these games, especially if you only get a handful of good attacks...

Great team effort.

Roly wasted the most chances, though others decision making could be questioned at times.

We have shown we had what it took this year to mix it with the top few sides.

We just couldn't put about WSW and Perth. Should have.

relying on Perth to lose two games seems like a big ask.

Was the pen really a handball? Hard for me to tell from my angle and slight pixelation.

Think VAR is a possible idea- Thierry Henry handball etc etc, but A league refs doing it isn't going to help us much at all. Remember the Nathan Lyon hot spot?

"That could have come from anything.."

The technology doesn't ensure a fair result unless the guys using it are competent and fair. Reffing is a tad subjective anyway. I don't think that VAR is always going to help fairness in decisions.

The VAR is odd. Meant to be getting rid of contentious/incorrect decisions...but because some random bloke picks and chooses when to use it, it's still contentious.

Edit: fundamental grammar issues

Review systems in cricket and tennis put the honesty back onto the players and captains. Two incorrect reviews a game, with the captain or coach calling it IMO.

Thought the ref was otherwise fairly good. Sydney a strong team physically, but we kept possession well for long periods of time and were fired up. Someone should tell Rossi he has to sign a contract extension now- even if it's a pen, it's no more egregious than BOnevaica's misses.

C'mon Perth- lose lose!

VAR system is horrific. Rossi's arms were likely only up where they were because the Sydney player is pushing down on his shoulders. In any case, he's clearly being fouled, so it should not have been a penalty.

Just like in rugby league, the video ref is getting shark wrong and ruining the flow of the game.

Who knew that would've happened! (sarcasm)

No doubt the A-League will continue forcing this upon us though.

Review system will only work if captain/coach call it, not the ref - something like 2 calls per game by each side.
