Paying for all those near misses at the start.

Anyone know if we will see Riera in the last couple of games? There was talk that he would be a possibility for the finals. So should be close to fit for the last game?

Timmins was signed as his injury replacement, so nope no chance sadly.

We have only got 19 fit players and 1 is suspended for this game. Adams, Rufer & Watson are not gonna change our fortunes over night. I would like to see Hicks get a run again but that isn't a silver bullet either.

I totally agree, but now that there is nothing left to play for I would rather that we now gave others a chance to impress while under no presure.  I would rather we tried something different and came last than played the same and came 8th.

The  thing is, besides the poor start and finish so far.., we really don't deserve to come last, during the middle part of the season, we played terrific football, and got the results to show for it,  examples being 5-0 over melb vic and 4-1 away of mariners . yeah we did cop a few pastings aswell but i really don't think we are a wooden spoon team

I find this confusing.
I we get the least points why wouldn't we deserve to come last?  Are you saying 1-0 wins count less than 5-0 wins because we've had a few of those ourselves?

Just re-posting my comment from the previous page so someone can adjust the heading of this thread which has the wrong time for Sunday's game (kick-off is 7 pm NZ time, NOT 6 pm as it states):

Eh? 6 pm kick-off? The heading of this thread says 6 pm but Sky's Electronic Program Guide says 7 pm,

as does the A-League website (5 pm Sydney time). Game is definitely at 7 pm NZ time.

Note that daylight saving ends Sunday morning in both NSW and NZ so Sydney remains two hours behind NZ.

A-League website (local Sydney time):

Sydney FC v Wellington Phoenix - #SYDvWEL
6 APRIL 5:00PM  ALLIANZ STADIUM, MOORE PARK

Time conversion:

Location                                                           Local time                         Time zone     UTC offset

Sydney (Australia - New South Wales) Sunday, 6 April 2014 at 5:00 p.m. AEST         UTC+10 hours

Auckland (New Zealand) Sunday, 6 April 2014 at 7:00 p.m.                       NZST         UTC+12 hours

Also, I agree we played great football for a while there, it was fantastic, but you can't claim that 5 or 6 weeks of great football in a 27 game season means you don't deserve to come last.
Perth played some decent football earlier in the season.
Heart had a period of playing fantastic football and stringing wins together.
So, no one deserves to come last?

We still have the chance to add two more good, winning games to the season, we should play the best possible team and try to win as high as we can. There is no reason to ride our luck, there is loong off season to try and polish new players.

WelNix would be silly to let Riera go, even unfit he is a better prospect for our midfield than many in that position.

(I said "many", not "Manny")

Also think the time confusion might have been in part due to FFA listing the game as 5pm AEDT not AEST originally. Has changed now.

Why, have you ever posted any critical comments on his performance?

Did you give him incorrect change? How did he see you over the counter?

Does anyone find it amusing that Brockie laments our home form when his from drop-off occurred at the same time?

I personally blame the lack of rain during games. No wet games in the past two seasons and our home form has sucked, surely its not a co-incidence!

I gather his trying to accept the blame, and take the proverbial one for the team (but in his usual way)

Bloody quiet prematch thread again. I guess everyone is just trying not to think about the fact that with Manny suspended Lia will be our DM... and Sydney have a certain Italian chap who will be lurking around between our defence and midfield. I usually try to be optimistic about the Nix's chances in any game but I can't help feeling that...

Oh, well we're definitely doomed now with that pitch, it'll completely ruin our intricate, delicate and precise passing game.
