We've been pedestrian. Lacking urgency and intensity. Second to every ball. Not enough press, not enough movement off the ball. Bit of a wake up. We've played like all we needed to do was turn up.

And none of that is the refs fault.

Davila and Devlin haven't been playing at nearly the same level since the restart, those two were at the heart of everything good for the Nix before the break.

Man how we shot ourselves in the foot over the last couple of games. We had our destiny in our hands and looked likely to finish second. Now not so much

Bit of experience for Talay there. His team went to sleep on him. WSW wanted it more than us.

We didn't play like the top 2 team I thought we were tonight. Ref or whatever, never thought we were great. Still think we can win can go all the way though.

Can't see this happening.  With SFC being minor premiers I'm sure they will play the kids now.

While not great referreeing bothways we can only blame ourselves for that pisspoor showing.

Also why was McCowatt chosen over Piscipo to start?  After he came on we looked a lot more threatening.

Well played WSW - don't want to see Fenton again this season thanks - not how we play ! Totally changed the game that challenge.

From what I've seen of Fenton since his return, I'd definitely start Tim Payne immediately he's available.

Exactly. Better to get a shark performance like that out of the way before the finals.

If we even get any finals. Odds of that are beginning to narrow a bit more every day.

Bad result we should have done a lot a better, I reckon piscopo should have started or atleast brought on sooner

Worst game of the season by far. I’m a big Uffie fan but he got tactically outdone in this game. WSW set up stop us playing in the first half. They neutralized Davila and stopped us out wide. I thought we might tactically change things second half but we were poor again. I wouldn’t get too excited about our little burst at the end. WSW completely messed up their tactics when we were down to 10. They should not have kept three at the back.

Poor play from just about everyone and poor tactics. It seems that teams are figuring out our play. Most of our possession is in our own half. Teams don’t leave room for us to counter. We defend way too deep.

Hopefully City get beaten by Sydney. That will leave us second on goal difference with our destiny still in our hands. Looking forward to a big reaction next game.

Talay will be off at the end of the season. Just like the last one.

Eastbourne Football Club - we're  gonna take the Chatham Cup this year.

Fenton was poor again, McCowatt can't run past a single player when he's got the ball, Davila not himself after the break.

At least we have some depth and there's some viable alternatives in all those positions.

However, Talay needs to find his best 11 asap and get them clicking - he's got 2 games left.

Because Cal's been in good form (MOTM two games ago) and had an off-day - as the majority of the team did.

Well he was in on goal and got fouled, same offence that got Devere sent, for no whistle

Not really had the chance but delayed to long.Think Piscopos direct running when he came on showed he may have been more affective. Just a shocking performance by many what is of concern is us gifting another goal with some terrible defending.

Yeh was hoping to see him around 55. Think it was something of a gauntlet/ultimatum to Hooper and Davila. Though, as has been pointed out , out wide isn't best for Davila.

Uffie in danger of imitating Ernie and Rudan- rip roaring season that fades into the play offs. A bit of a gauntlet for him too.

We've really butchered the last two games. Had a great chance to be comfortably in front in the second, and now the fight for the second could turn into a three-way scrap with no guarantees for anyone.

Permalink Permalink

I don’t like to go into single players, I thought everyone was poor, so many lazy passes, not a good watch. We created not enough chances in the last games and then one standard cross in the box and we are done. Not a good watch.

Not going to offer it as an excuse, they are a professional football team after all. But even with the advantages of modern communications it can't be all that easy being stuck for this length of time in the one place so far away from their families. Also NSW is on something of a knife edge with the whole Covid thing and there is a general feeling of unease everywhere. Maybe this is having an effect, I don't know.

Did feel a bit off the boil.

How much was Uffie's set up being nullified against us not taking the chances we had? Coulda been 2-0 up early on.

Actually Tim Payne coming back could be a thing- he should be firing up.

in hindsight the plan of resting players last week and firing for the last three games failed. 1 point from 6. Should have gone for the points last week and rested for last game of 4 if second place was secure .

I think they believed their own press a bit. And thought it would just come. WSW brought it and choked our passing lines, kept us under pressure. And with ins and outs and part games for Davila and Hooper we've not got back in the groove.

But when we went behind we showed a flicker of what we can do with more intensity and pace.

With luck it is the wake up we needed and we start to hit our straps from here.

Come on Sydney. But we can beat anyone if at our best.
