So so much to like about the way our play is developing: our short passing game, the press on the ball carrier and his outlets and the way we look to go forward at pace. Burns and Roly were awesome, their close control is outstanding and Burns is not afraid to use his pace to have a go.

I thought A Rod was better today, still a way to go which will hopefully come with confidence. Thought Siggy was also very good.

Great noise out of the zone.

If we only had a striker - you know you're playing shit when you get dragged for Lia.

Good test next week away to Victory, must admit nervous about this game. Victory looking scarily good.

He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

Brockie will no doubt get grief, but i'll get in early and say despite not scoring I am happy with how he putting himself about. It seems like hes trying to do the Greenacre role.

He got another assist today, three in three games. Not a bad return to be fair. (i'm cheating by counting his missed pen as an assist).

Yeah we are only the second most prolific team in the comp. Imagine if the team had strikers instead of not strikers.

Reira Roly Wee Mac and Burns are our class players currently and making it happen.  A Rod doesn't seem to be with the A league style or pace..very strange.  I watched him for awhile and he just running back into space.  Im not sure if he out of position ie too far forward so tracking back not playing from in front of himself deeper?

The curse of the non hat tricks struck Burns again but he is very composed on the ball and does some wonderful shimmies to beat players.  Still worried our only real attacking sub is Cunningham but Fenton fits in as a creator.  Need out and out striker still.

We done the bare chested ones..

Anyone think A-Rod has been a little bit disappointing so far?

Ok, it was cold there today and the light drizzle made the surface quite slippery in the 2nd half. Burns deserved a hattrick. He and wee mac are forming a formiddable relationship. Durante pulled off the most amazing goal saving tackle and then capped it with a well taken goal. The whole team played better as a unit and I wonder if that early goal settled their nerves.

At one stage, the Jets had 3 divers on the pitch, nut puncher Griffiths, Jeronimo and Flores. And no matter how often they went down, Beath was having none of it really. Good job.

The fever were in good voice for the whole game but fuck that, taking the shirts off, it had to be 5 degrees... was grezt to meet Matt and yet again our resident TV star got onto the big screen at the start, at half time and at the end. He really does look like Peter Jackson did when he was his age and before he got fat.

Some good stuff from the majority of the players today. Plenty to be positive about going forward. Hopefully it builds from here, a few teams will be much better than the Jets were today.

Who was it that put their striker in on goal with a long curling diagonal ball? One glaring blemish ha

Fuck this stupid game

I think he's being harshly judged because he's not doing anything flashy but he is doign something hugely important.  He's providing a hub and an outlet for Riera and the backs and recycling it, often with a simple pass.  He's the reason we are holding possession in midfield because he's nearly always available for a pass and able to make one after collections.

Riera is more noticeable as he's often in the backline collecting the ball, and Roly more prominent as he's further forward and looking to play an attacking ball.  Rodriguez is what connects the two.  He's making interceptions and maintaining possession which gives a chance for everyone else to do the more visible things.

I'm not remotely disappointed in him.

I'm all for giving A-Rod a bit more time, having seen him play in a slightly different context (vs. Cantebury United pre-season), he seemed to play a much similar role to Roly. Playing slightly further up the pitch, he seemed composed and I'm sure this will come with time.

I feel he quite frequently gives possession away though. I shouldn't complain, he is far better than Lia.

Interesting game that, seems there are more people in the crowd getting involved which was good, guess thats why the standard was better than usual plus the fact the team was winning

I watched Alex for a while. Many of the passes to him were not weighted well so it looked like he wasn't timing his run well.

Some of his passing was slow and he took more time to decide which option to take. But equally he made some nice angled passes.

I think he is still a few games away from fitting in well with the team.

I watched him for a while and thought the weight of his passes were very slow. It meant that as soon as the receiver got the ball, a jet player was half way through them.

4-1...great victory for the lads. So pleased for Ernie too

YF sounded long and loud on the TV

What was the Lia for Brockie sub???   When you are 3-0 and in control it seemed like a chance to give another attacker a run. Brockie was OK, but not great. I'm loving the style of football Ernie has the team playing. But I still think we would be even more awesome with an Archie Thompson style of striker. Brockie has his qualities and he is trying to put himself about but I still am not convinced that he is the type of forward that complements our game. Weemac and Burns are outstanding in putting the ball into great spaces but Brocks just does not seem to get into goal scoring situations.

People making comparisons to him doing a "Greenacre" role are way off. Greenacre was a 100 times better player.

Just as well we have the Reserves in the ASB prem because it does not look like any of the kids like Boyd, Ridenton etc are going to get much of a look in the first team. I thought Boyd last year was starting to offer something at A-League level. But Weemac and Burns are at another level. However Lia is a lose cannon IMO.....his mistakes are costing us....would Ridenton be a better option?

Ernie does not show a lot of emotion but he will be really chuffed with this win.....its a vindication of him sticking to his playing philosophy and selecting the players he wanted. Huge game next against the Victory.....we will get a great chance to see where this team is at.

It might not have been pretty at the back and yes their goal was soft but hey, the Jets had the three biggest divers in the competition (Except Alex Brosque) and they didn't get away with it. I applaud our defence for that. It could have been so easy to give away a penalty - in fact they should have had one but we got lucky. Well done defence, you played like one and no pussy footing around when danger loomed either. job well done.

Roly us fast becoming my favorite player.

Me too. Called that he would be out most important player after the Perth game; and standing by it. The guy is a machine.

I thought A Rod was better today; but some of his passing was pretty poor still. Still, I think he needs a bit more time - he doesn't look completely comfortable yet. Feel like as long as he keeps getting a consistent run with both Riera and Roly he will be much better towards the end of this season.

Riera had his best game so far this season, too, I thought. Was immense.

Think the biggest difference this week was that we started with confidence - no nervy beginnings, except for that Griffiths half chance. Much better. First close-to-complete performance of the season.

that is pretty good! If that was in a 10-15k stadium it would be an epic atmosphere!

Well done to the all that got along!

Next home game will have to be 8500-9000 with this kinda form!

The  Derbys in  Oz have been amazing this season! Imagin a Aukland vs Nix derby! That would get a solid  20k to watch!

In Wellington you'd get 25k for the first game and in Auckland you'd get 25k too, 24k from Wellington.
