We’re back with LFC Wellington and the Nix for 5th consecutive year to help fill the Wellington City Mission food bank for Christmas! Raid the pantry and bring along 5 cans (to celebrate 5 years).

Scott, our only other pure left back. Dunno if TAHW or Payne could fill in on the left

Probably Walter Scott

Predicted lineup? will be interesting to see Balls link up play with Hooper

I would expect Hooper will probably get 20min off the bench. If his visa comes through on time.

He will take a bit to get upto match fitness.

I'd expect him to start and play 60 if that's the case, 20 minutes off the bench won't do shark for match fitness.

I only know about Scott from what I've heard from pre-season reports; but I'm a little scared to see him line up v Perth.

Yeah for the amount of money we are probably paying him he needs to be starting ASAP, unless the sports scientists think this could result in injury related to his fitness.

4-3-3 Hooper with McCowatt and Waine on the wings. Davila in behind an Rufer and Steinmen alongside.

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

No Ball? been one of our best players

For Ball to play, 4-4-2 but Hooper and Ball are similar

Hooper and Ball definitely aren't similar, Hooper is a pure finisher

Only saw him against TW, hard to assess. Doesn't have the attacking quality of Cacace but seemed better than most backup LBs we have had over the years.

Similar in the fact they are both English?

Ball seems like more of a creator while Hooper seems like a pure finisher. Ball has the best touch I've seen from one of our imports since ol' Stein.

re: Walter Scott; it's a big chance for him, I hope he takes it.

I would be very surprised to see Hooper start the game.  If he has enough fitness (and visa) to be named in the squad, it makes far more sense for him to be introduced to the game once there is a clear shape to it. I would expect him to be subbed on for Sotirio. Starting him when Perth has fresh legs is simply risky.  You get a couple of inevitable missed passes through his lack of familiarity with his teammates and we'll get punished.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

I reckon if he's fit enough, he has to start - he's not a pacy young striker to bring off the bench, he's someone who's there to tap in those crosses. The longer he's on, the better. Strikers will misplace passes no matter who they are; as long as it's in the attacking 3rd, that's expected.

My impression of the nzf is that they work with smoke signals up in Auckland. Amazing how backward they are. Although, compared to the biased and corrupt sfa, they're streets ahead.

Anyway back on topic. I'm pumped for this one. Week can't finish quickly enough!

Last season Popovic rotated his players alot.

Not sure if that was his ploy to deal with the travel demands on his team or just a result of the riches of talent he had at his disposal.

Probably wishful thinking. But after a full 90min last week and two away games back to back, be nice if Castro, Fornaroli and Kilkeeny were in line to rest those aging legs.

They should be saving their energy for games that matter, like Glory away trip to Western United.

Honestly, Wellington has the worst public transport you could imagine, and still the Greens go on about cars. Looks like we will all be fudgeing cycling to games before long.

Every one of those councilors involved in the bus debacle should be sent to the gallows. Truly pathetic. They've got the service they've paid for. Cheap as fudge Auckland reject buses. Anyway, I'll stop there. At least there's the scooters ?

I actually think a lot of them were not re-elected. Certainly I think the buses and cycleways hurt Lester's re-election.

Four of them decided not to stand again (including Sue Kedgley who would have got in again easily). Five got re-elected, three stood again and lost.
