Eh? Do we think Moss has had any real bearing on the result here?
I could understand if we were a EPL team. Jaaskelinen changed for Adrian, that kind of thing, but really Moss is fine and the least of our worries.

i thought we played very nice football for about an hour tonight.
But notwithstanding the fact that three dreadful bits of defending resulted in their goals, i think wr have seen the future of the a-league tonight
To be called "Game of Tards", and based on the previously popular harlem globetrotters and christians v lions franchises, each week Melbourne will host a different team who cant possibly win, but who are asked to play up to the croud and tv audience , and accept their fate graciously in return for being permitted to come back next year.
The scoreline wasn't a fair reflection on the game. Can't help feeling really deflated though - after such a turbulant week I wanted us to win. I knew we probably wouldn't but I didn't expect three zip.

I agree, 2 of the goals were sloppy defensive lapses. If that bullet from Siggy had gone in it may have been different. We had a couple of chances and played well in parts
Moss is low on the list of Ernie's worries.
Generated enough chances but not getting the resulting shots on target wastes them.
Whenever they want to sign a player, they ask the FFA to add another marquee spot.
That's the best team in the league and for about an hour, we competed.
The other sides we have played against, we have been the better team. I have no cause for angst or emotion over a largely predictable result.
Grumpy old bastard alert
One of those if games i reckon. If we had scored early if they hadnt been so clinical, if siggys header had been a bit wider, if their hadnt been that deflection,if we had been able to convert some of our chances.
Yet again another of those games where our guys are getting pulled back all the bloody time can see one of our guys lashing out shortly if something isnt done about it. Then they get away with kicking the shark out of Roly yet Roys gets a card .
We were some distance behind Victory last night. Sure there were individual errors / poor performances but as whole within their system they were quite a bit better than we were within ours.
When we tried pressing it worked at times but a lot of the time MV were able to play through and create a lot of chances. The movement of their front 4 was really top notch and so often were found in space with options at their disposal. Where on our end quite often our players quickly became isolated in wide areas with no way of playing out. Apart from the system, one of the big differences is the passing ability of their back 5 compared to ours.
If, hypothetically, MV needed to win by 5 I feel they could have gotten there if they applied themselves for the full 90.

I agree, really there was only about a 10 minute period where we controlled the game at all. Otherwise we were completely on the back foot. Still Melbourne and all that, we never win there. We really didn't deserve anything from that game
Anyone else think Ernie always looks super fired up against Melbourne?
Only 3 clean sheets in the last 17 is the real worry. We just look like we will concede in every half
Normo's coming home
Also, Sarpong had some nice touches but he looked worryingly lightweight
Normo's coming home
That game underlined the level of the league and the players for me.
Some glimpses of quality but equal levels of shark... that game could be played three times and you'd get scores of 3-0, 3-3, and 0-3.
Welcome to the A-league. 90 minutes... 90 different levels of sharkeness.
last year in melbourne we beat them so i still have faith if anything the FFA saga hasn't helped our boys that's fact
is wayne smith available? defensive coach yeah different code same theory defense defense defense

Now we have lost against them in Melbourne, when we hit them in the Grand Final in Melbourne we will beat em. You'll see.

Agreed. He cant hold the ball up to save himself. Its not a size issue either; its technique. It's something Roy has gotten very good at. He isnt the player we need so far.
Anyway, being at the game the thing I noticed was Siggy constantly running out of the defensive line - cost us the first goal. Makes amazing looking challenges sometimes but at what cost? Also as soon as MV got on top we dropped so deep that they has ridiculous amounts of space in the middle.

He was better in the Perth game when he had a bit more space. That pass in the second half was a beauty so I think we have to accept that he's going to look to drop deep. Still a bit of figuring out going on there, but when we smack balls up to him we have to assume we're going to lose it 10/10 times

Victory played the game extremely wide and we tended to play fairly compact. There were big gaps everywhere. Just one of those games I guess. Brilliant to see the signs though but the game result was a shark birthday present all the same. Capped off an entirely shark day.
We always had space wide but we never used it. Once or twice we did and almost scored. Was strange.

All the goals they made, we did not. Krishna had two one on ones with Voku, no goal. Berisha on the other side, 1st beat two defenders and the keeper. 2nd got fouled by Moss, still scores. 3rd blame Dura.

We were playing the ball up to Roy much of the time and for a small guy I thought he was winning an awesome amount.

I agree - this was one of his best (if not the best) games where he did not score, and especially against some testing opposition.
Ultimately good teams take the chances offered - we could have scored but did not, while MV did. Kosta played like a man possessed.
Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Went to look at the highlights on the A-League site to see Roy's chances etc - the _only_ chance of ours that they showed was the Siggy header. What the fark?
