Durante is back, the new fitness coach we appointed today must be a miracle worker!

33.Petros SKAPETIS - Oh snap. This kid was picked up by QPR for a bit - meant to be very talented. Mark Hughes brought him in if memory serves me correctly - LoneGunMan. He was thought of as being the next big thing.

Nothing came of it and he ended up following Hughes to Stoke. Doesn't look like he started there either, so it'll be interesting to see if he starts.

I've watched a couple of Roar games, Skapetis was either subbed on early or subbed off. Looks to be a creative player in wide areas but not particularly hard working. From what I've seen I'm more worried about Maccarone, Ben Khalfallah and Holman

Cheers for the update. Figured we'd see Khalfallah & Maccarone starting, just spotted an ex-R so pleasently surprised.

Must admit, watching the Nix this season has been far more pleasing/bearable than previous seasons. Despite feeling nervous during the off season at how slowly the club were moving on appointing a new manager, I've been impressed with what I've seen thus far.

The signings have been better, the football has been better and the team seem to be gelling well. We're only a few games in, but thus far I haven't turned the TV off in a fit of rage - even with 2 defeats.

Onwards and upwards.

Article suggests Finkler is set to start, so guessing Ridenton drops out. Wonder if we could try a narrow 4-4-2 diamond?

                     Smith

Galloway Mullen Durante Abbas

                    Paracki

             Vidosic McGlinchey

                     Finkler

            Krishna Kaludjerovic

Doyle in for Durante if he fails the fitness test. Galloway & Abbas to bomb forward to provide the width with Paracki covering their forward runs. Hopefully this would get Krishna more ball & in better positions than he has been getting atm.

I reckon same formation, Vidosic out to the wing, WeeMac in for Ridenton and Finkler at CAM. Our shape was fine against MC, we just lacked that extra playmaker in the middle. I also think Brisbane's defence isn't as good so it should be easier for us to break down

Atm Krishna is wasted as a wide option, gotta try and get him on the ball more. AK9's hold up play with Krishna playing off his shoulder I feel might do that

Yeah I get that but I think that given how well everything else is functioning at this point I would try the Finkler/WeeMac/Paracki midfield combo in this formation first. More creative central mids should draw our defenders and find channels for those through balls to Krishna IMO

As much as I agree with RR that Krishna is wasted out wide, you're probably right that we need to try a proper creative central mid in the current formation first given how well the team is performing otherwise. Though even in that formation, Vidosic did look to come centrally much more than Krishna was obviously instructed to. It's just frustrating to see him so far away from the goal mouth.

I share that frustration too, but if you look at it from a coaching perspective you can see why its like this. While I love Krishna and he's been banging them in over the last few seasons, he's not a traditional goal-scorer. Darije and Rado obviously are keen for AK to get into form, and Krishna is the only player who we have that can actually be effective on the wing (even though he's had a quiet start). Personally I don't think AK will perform that well this season and I think it will be a matter of time before we see Krishna back up top as a strike partner

Been doing my bit to spread the word to get along tonight to watch our work in progress.

Be surprised if we don't take another step forward. Every side wants an early goal, but will make a helluva difference if we grab one, as it could spark something special.

However Brisbane are more than odds on to score in the game with Maccarone around up front, and they'll fancy themselves to take advantage of our enforced defensive shuffling.

What I think he's trying to say is there is a feeling (maybe just with Sarpong) that he's not a targetman, back to goal, winning headers striker. I think he's a relatively effective back to goal and targetman, much more than you would expect. We do seem to be hitting aerial crosses more, but no one is late into the box- like Daniel and Tim Brown, and Dario has cashed in a couple of times, but otherwise it's been a little low percentage...

AK is ok, but needs more from the rest of the attack. Krishna is a dynamic counter attacker, but it doesn't seem like we're going to try to do a lot of quick countering.

AHAHAHA that's absolutely tragic. Feel sorry for Keegan, the club shouldn't be doing him dirty like this - still doesn't have any info or description on the club website.
