Preferred starters for this game...

I have a feeling Payne will be found out at CM but interested to see how he would go. I'd like McGing to start but can't see Ufuk dropping DeVere. Just hope there'll be a couple changes to the 11 we've started with the first 3 games

Gotta go for 3 points here. There's no reason why not. Its 4 games into the season, pretty much most of our players are looking good imo. What I wana see is some fire in the belly, be more aggressive in defense and take it to them up front.

I didn't think we were as good as in the 2nd game, so hopefully being away from home will bring out our best showing this weekend.

It's not as yet. In Ernie's last season, we opened with 4 losses, scoring only 1 goal (and that goal came in round 4 in a 6-1 drubbing by Victory).

I'm not convinced our form so far indicates we're going to be a major threat this year, but as we've only lost by the odd goal in each game I'm not giving up hope

Apart from the first 15 mins vs Sydney, we have looked on par if not better than the teams we have faced. It's stupid errors that are costing us goals and a lack of cutting edge up front.

Don't agree with this, Perth completely dominated the first half

Agree. Was Men v Boys in that first half, for sure; think they dominated more than Syd did even.

I just think Perth are a better team than Sydney right now.

Is Ben Abraham a very experienced referee at this level? Never heard of him

Not really - from this article:

“Ben is a referee that has come through the national referee development pathway and has proven himself more recently in the National Premier League and FFA Cup. We see plenty of potential with Ben to become a leading referee in the coming years.

Couldn't find any stats on his so it may well be his first game at this level.

Let's be honest with ourselves, Phoenix are promising, but will fail to deliver this season. If they somehow manage top six, then I'm completely wrong. Hopefully there's a lot more improvement in this match such as goals and clean sheet.

Still very early days mate, plenty of time to turn this around. We've looked bloody good against some of the best teams in the league. If we stop leaking soft goals and our strike force starts firing we can still make the six.
At the very least at some point we are going to destroy some poor team like we did CCM last season.

I am sure they have marked that one in their diary to remember when they play us this season.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Midfield and fullback cover looking the worries at this stage. And possibly Devere < Durante?

Attack is strong and must do better. Not enough goals from our chances so far.

'bloody good' is an optimistic take; but we've looked OK at times, usually when already going a goal behind.

Biggest concern has been our leaky defence. Not going to get anywhere with that.

think Uffie should be saying something along the lines of wanting to see proper protection for dribbling players like Ball, why it's difficult to attract quality technical players to the league etc.

And lets get a win!

After seeing Weatern beat Victory I must say they have everything we don't.

This game against City will reveal who we are imo. Its 4 games into the season, the team's had enough time together now. City is missing their best player. If we lose this one we're in deep deep trouble and will most definitely not finish in the top 6.

On the other hand, a good performance and there is some hope.

Sorry way to early for this type of call even should we lose we will at worse be only 6 points  from the six. That can be easily made up and if they keep showing some of the promise in attack then it is possible. Important that Taylor gets the defence to stop giving away soft goals.Amazes me the number of people quick to write them off, given where we have come from the only way is up.
