Can't be a load of times we've scored 5 goals in a match. Beat Newcastle 5-0 back end of last season.
7 times apparently we have scored five or more but first time against Perth.

Couple of things, we played in our white strip because of All Whites the night before.
what sort of reason is that? We play in Yellow and Black at home. I hate that sort of shark.
Probably motivational for the team considering the heroics the night before?
Such inane crap here about watto. Run was being made, pass from parkhouse was able to be made earlier, and wasn't.
We're not just talking about today. Last week he came on and was offside countless times. Can someone find the stats? games played and offsides.

That should probably be Khal unless Darije is secretly a woman...

Well we did just demolish a team.
If they're going to play like that when they wear the white strip, hell they should wear it every week!
Always a good feeling when the big offseason signings/imports win you a game, and Roy, AK, Goran and Dario really stood up today.
Today is my birthday. Today I watched Auckland city spank Hamilton 6-0 and my beloved Nix win 5-2 amongst other things.
Today is a good day.

Not carrying on about how AK missed two good chances including a free header because he had more and he nailed those.
Saturday: 37,000ish witness 0 goals
Sunday: 6,000ish witness 7 goals
Still a girl is happy with the All Whites, Team Welly and the Nix. What a great weekend.
sweet
Finkler worked hard and found a bit of form
Paracki and Ridenton got back in the groove together - watching closely they rotate very well when one of them gets forward. Both do a lot of work.
Rossi is, simply, a beast. Half a dozen very, very classy pieces of defending.
And pretty much everybody else put in a good shift.
We're not perfect, but that was a team working well for each other.
Showed a lot of character.
Would anyone please be able to give a quick list of player ratings /10 for the game? I ask this as a fan who left Welly to get home early this morning, thinking nothing the Nix could do could top the All Whites, couldn’t get any updates on the drive

Smith - 5. Unlucky to give away the backpass, but it was the right call. Rossi stitched him up though. Should've saved the 2nd.
Mullen - 7. About as good a backup CB as you can get in the A-League. Good runs forward and dealt with the change of position well.
Fox - 6. Solid until he was injured, strong in the air. One missed clearance that went across the face of goal
Rossi - 7. He's our best player. Solid apart from stitching Keegs up. Maybe could've done better marking Lowry to
Rufer - 8. Came on at RB, and I think we've found his position! A couple of great crosses and good defensively. Yellow card was dumb.
Abbas - 7. I think he's improved every week. Still slow af but he's growing into it. Some great runs down the left.
Ridenton - 8. Broke up play a lot and recycled well. Not a creative player though and still takes too long on the ball. He's having a great season.
Paracki - 8. Couple of misplaced passes early but came right. Cracking run and finish
Finkler - 8. Was on the ball a lot, provided a good link between the front 3 and the rest of the team. Was very composed for his goal.
Krishna - 9.5. 3 outstanding assists. Perths defense was terrified.
Vidosic - 7. Well taken goal but quiet otherwise
Kaludjerovic - 9. Most involved I've seen him, possibly due to Finkler in part. Well taken goal is. 2nd top scorer in the league!
Parkhouse - 8. Not a lot of time on the pitch but a great cross for the last goal and was dangerous every time he got the ball. He's growing on me
Watson - 4. Did sweet fudge all but wasn't on for long.
Shoutout to the Perth CB pairing who were absolutely terrible
Valley FC til I die?
Surprised about any negativity. Thought our defensive structure and press was excellent which meant we created turnovers and scored from them - textbook pressing executed well.
Didn't think Finkler did nearly enough but he was at least involved. Abbas doesn't defend close enough to his man. Ridenton massively improved the midfield balance - to me our best XI right now means leaving one of McGlinchey/Finkler Vidosic out of the starting lineup (but having them coming off the bench is no bad thing).
Smith's kicking is a bigger issue then I thought when watching on TV, the whole stadium is filled with nerves any time the ball goes near him. I was more worried after the game than before it about him (having only watched on TV).
Roy is our best player, I hope he is paid like it (bet he isn't though...)
Normo's coming home

I still maintain that NZF should be on the phone to Internal Affairs to urgently naturalise him via Irene Van Dyke clause.
Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days
In the post match Darje said something like he talked to Rufer about positions last week with the idea that he might be cover for right full back and Alex showed that he was confident so Darje didn't have to think about it when Alex as on the bench.
So, whatever attitude problems were rumored for Alex over the last couple of seasons were clearly not there in this instance and also Darje seems to put a lot of emphasis on which foot the players favor more than what position they actually have experience in.
Also, AK has snuck his way up to second on the golden boot ladder!
The Phoenix have started live streaming the post match press conferences for home games on periscope (links in their twitter feed), the press conference for Darje is 10 minutes like compared to the three or four minute one that the A-League puts in their press conference.
Interesting stuff.

cheers, outstanding!
i made the mistake of starting to watch a phoenix football game. Has to be one of the worst or at least uncaring nix teams ever.
Love it.

All this.
The 2 we conceded yesterday were both defensive howlers, we never got picked apart at all from memory, I felt our defending outside of those goals was of decent quality. Rossi was classy but actually Mullen was impressive all day, in two different roles, I thought he was our best defensive player.
And yea Rossi sold Smith a little short on that back pass, but his first touch was way too big in that situation. The danger was there, he should've just hoofed that. I really put both goals down to the keeper, he's just so green. Fortunately he's only cost us our stomachs so far, no points, but it does feel like a matter of time.
Krishna is just an absolute beast of a player, and he's still getting better. He's never stopped improving since the day we signed him. I love that guy.
Andy Keogh, the 2 Lowry brothers and Oli Sail were all out drinking last night in Danger Danger. I talked to them and they tried to say they weren't who they were. Crack up!!
Ha. That was stated at the game... "if you want to catch Keogh later - try Danger Danger"
Overall a great performance. The style of play has been consistent this season but with not enough good periods. Yesterday we always looked dangerous going forward - until the defence settles down we'll need to score lots of goals!
Awful back-pass from Rossi and certainly not blaming Smith for that goal but he still worries me a lot. If one of the reasons he's there is because he's good with his feet that worries me - sometimes it's ok just to hump it long to clear the danger. Abbas getting much better every week and as has been highlighted elsewhere Krishna is top-class every game now

I repeat. Why do you think NZF cares about the Nix's visa spots? I'm not sure they really approve of the Nix at all.

Agreed.
The problem is not so much that he is young and inexperienced (OK, OK, it is a problem), but that he is not the biggest teenager around. I hope Mrs Keegan Smith can get some Weetbix vouchers in her Xmas sock this year to feed her son.

Hopefully that will change with time when some of the better ex-Nix players start getting jobs at NZF.

And yet last year a lot of people were moaning about Moss always just hoofing it forward instead of trying to play a short pass. I'm all for the keeper playing it short to a defender but not when the defender is under pressure from an attacker which is what Smith does quite often. He did it a lot in the pre season game against Auckland City and has continued to. Maybe he is under instruction from the coaches that they want it played out from the back.
Does anyone know why Rossi started taking the goal kicks in the 2nd half?
Also, on Rufer. I must be the only person who thought he didn't have that great a game. He seemed very slow on the ball and was caught in possession a few times. I know right back is not his natural position but regardless, he looked really slow on the ball compared to everyone else.
Mullen was brilliant and I think Rossi had his best game of the season so far. He looked a class above in the 2nd half.
Krishna made team of the week https://www.a-league.com.au/news/hyundai-a-league-...
I'd have Paracki and Kaluderovic there too... (granted I didn't see the other games)
Krishna with 3 assists .
Going to be fun without him next week
Friendly against Estonia...
That's a long journey for Estonia..
Estonia playing Fiji, Vanuatu and New Caledonia...is it in the FIFA window? Do we have to let Krishna go?
I hope we put our foot down and refuse.
Seems he is already blocked, Fiji want him for some games in December however ...

My son cracked me up, he just said very cool after a few minutes watching Rufer: "He has no idea what he is doing" I thought he was a bit over motivated, he got calmer and better as the game went on.
Agree with Mullen, he had some good solo runs, great attacking game.
Krishna is just a outstanding player. I guess he just grown into his role as being a Fiji captain and legend. Very talented footballer who got his chance. Professional work ethic and it looks like he is enjoying every moment of his career. For me a Phoenix legend. I love this guy.
What I love about Krishna is his work rate. Dude never stops running, trying to find space on attack or pressing or tracking back on d. And not just jogging but full on sprinting. He's a machine.

Dunno what the general vibe is, but I think there's got to be a certain point where we all start considering Krishna as on of the club's Ifill-tier legends. 29 goals and 21 assists across basically 3 and a bit seasons is remarkable, and there have been many long periods of seasons where he has carried us. When Burns goals partially dried up, Krishna started scoring every week. When Burns left, he carried on that form until he got a lengthy injury. Last season again, while Barbarouses was sharke for half a season he was incredible. The stats don't lie, he's been f**king brilliant, but also his attitude. He never stops running, fearless contesting aerial duels against blokes twice his height, and has stayed loyal to us for 5 seasons. He's easily got at least 2 or 3 good seasons left in him too. What a guy

Agreed with all of this. He’s improved heaps since his first season.
