Rubbish

I suggest you look back - has missed multiple one on ones - he is not quality, middling at best.

So why was he scoring at will in early games? Do we now suddenly miss Vidosic for support/assist?

We will miss Roy. And I wonder what is Burns thinking about his WC team chances now.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

the really dangerous thing about this is that I love this club and always have, but we're 4-0 down and I don't feel sad or angry or even disappointed, just a bleak nothing-ness.

I felt like that in the leadup to Christmas.  It's really depressing.  I've been jolted back to anger, it's actually a much better feeling than where you are now.  I feel you man, I know exactly what it is you are feeling.

Strangely, I do not feel the anger (yet). At the moment I just feel numb.

As I say, i've been through that, it was for a couple of months and it was shark - was wondering why I bothered.  Hope you get through it.

Only Dura, Fox and Ridenton deserve to get paid this week.

I still think a few heavy competitions for the ball with Bonevacia might have helped.

Goran and Ljujic aren't the Jedis they promised to be.

It's going to take some bloody mindedness to pull this around from here. I still think Darije can do it.

Kalu is in a bit of a slump- but he's a finisher and that's about it. And he's much better with his head.

Burns isn't as good as Krishna at the moment. And we don't have any other goal scorers.

I can't even put my rose coloured glasses on tonight. We were an embarrassment.  While Durante and Fox were our best tonight, no one in the team deserves to be in the A League based on that performance.

I didn’t say he was top quality; just took issue with your comment that he misses a sitter every game at least. And one on ones are not always sitters . . . depends on angle, ball speed etc etc. Suggest you look back and judge whether he is getting A league quality ball.

Should visit Roy's house. Would be a thousand times better either finishing his tap ins or playing one-twos with him!

Yeh, Vido was a good match with Kalu. Both scorers with their head a fair bit, so that's how we attacked. I don't think Burns and Kalu are a natural combo.

It needs a spark.

We get it a bit from the new players, but I think Roy has hurt the club and the team badly. Perhaps the club can share some of the blame, we'll see.

On the other hand, it shows up how much we depended on him and how his genius papered over cracks.

Hate to admit it but Roly was the best player on the pitch tonight.

Makes me think that our downfall is not how good our best players are, but how bad our average players are.

I can be wrong - correct me if I am talking crap - but I think it might be to do with our overall (average) low standard of skills which is covered up by good skills of maybe a handful of players like Roy or Burns. This could be the single biggest difference between us and other A-League teams.

Maybe this stops the better players from passing the ball to the average players if they know that it is safer (for ball retention) not to pass the ball. It can end up with the better players appearing as if they were not giving a rat's arse whereas they are probably just not wanting to waste their energy on low-chance passes to the likes of Parkhouse or (on tonight's performance) McGlinchey or Paracki.

So what do you see for us now?

Stuff the guys who've left for whatever reason.

We know he was a bloody class act. As were Marco, Kosta (from time to time) and a number of other players including Roy.

Any small dose of hope you could see for us?

Hope is gone, fold the club. Better for my mental health.

People blaming AK are ridiculous considering 3/4 of the team are not playing at A-League level.

We've been short a decent goal keeper, one CB and/or one FB almost all season.  Through weakness of the squad at keeper and FB and a plague of injuries at CB.

Paracki seems to have given up.  Can't decide whether that is because of the mess that's been behind him all season, or because he's found it much harder than he expected, or the general morale malaise, or all of the above.

Parkhouse just isn't up to it.  Ridenton is an engine and decent effort, and not without merit, but without the nouse to make much happen.

And that, sadly, covers half our midfield. And 3/5ths of our defense.

McG doesn't know where to be to try and compensate for all that.  Liujic has just arrived and is wondering why.  And the guys up front would like to see the ball.

And Kaludj and Liujic are not useless, but not messiahs relative to the quality in other sides.

We're a couple of players short of half decent.  And the injuries and morale has just compounded on all that.

Yeah, that's fair.

One option might be to accept that we might need more imports than locals - and the easiest way to go about it would be to make decent offers to a few Australian players (no visa required), and I do not mean Italiano. It may mean spending money, but I wager there might be a few younger blokes (of Tratt quality) that might be lurking around NPL clubs and would like a crack at big time. We just do not have enough visa spots for more Euro players.

Is it just me, or is Roly looking a happier person than he was at the Nix?  He gets fouled less (but the same goes for any player that moves to a mainland club, from Dario Vidosic to Kosta Barbarousas).

After a promising couple of games when they first arrived Darije has managed to reduce Burns and Ljuijc to the same level of dross as the rest of the squad

Biggest dissapointment this season is Paracki. He should be holding things together, moping things up, linking defense from attack. Today I really studied him. He was terrible. Lost so much ball. Would do one good thing only to lose possession by over working it or holding on too long.

Would rather have A-rod.

I hope DK stays and has a massive clean out. I'm afraid that if he goes and is replaced, we keep most of the dross because the new boss will need the players and not have a strong vision of what new players he needs. So we end up re-signing the majority (even on 1 year deals) and we are back to square one.

I think there is a good argument that a coach needs to be given enough time to get things sorted. Darije strikes me as a bloke that has a plan but no people to implement it with.  I wrote earlier that I am happy for him to recruit to suit that plan, and for players to get used to that plan, and that this probably requires more than one season.

I am probably not alone in thinking, after last night's efforts, that something just does not add up. Surely we have enough decent players already not to lose 4:0, and enough quality on paper to be able to at least put a ball in the net even if we lose. Instead we are casting about blaming this player, that player, etc.

I feel sorry for those players who care about our reputation - local people like Dura, who deserve to finish their playing career in less depressing circumstances.  It was good to see most if not all WSW players coming to shake his hand and pat him on the back at the end of the game last night.

Not just the coach but Management in particular David Dome, time for him to go, he has overseen this complete shambles and its time for someone who knows what they are doing.

Based on my vague thoughts of him arriving etc, he has recruited the following

Andreja Kaludrovich, Scott Galloway, Daniel Mullen, Ali Abas, Goran Parascki, Nathan Burns, Matije Lubijijc, Keegan Smith, Tando Valaphi, Monty Patterson, Sarpreet Singh, Libby Cacace,

Admittedly Patterson and Flappy are newcomers but it is still 12 players. He also supposedly agreed on extensions given players that were resigned before his arrival.

Amongst the "others",  the following would be considered to be at least  "servicable at A league level, no mugs and able to adapt to a new system:

Dura, Doyle, Fox, Rossi, Wee Mac, Ridenton, Krishna

So that is 18 or 19 players he has either recruited, or considered to be adequate footballers.

How big a crack of the whip is this bloke going to get?

We are going backwards at a huge rate of knots,

How many of those are Rado signings?

Permalink Permalink

What strikes me is that we are not every week the same kind of bad, last week we showed some fight and got goals from stupid errors but we actually played OKish for our skill set. This week we could not string two balls together and where lucky not to get 4 in the first half.

For me it is hard to understand that they even can pass a simple ball with no pressure to a player 5 meters away. No service to our front man, 90% of throw ins, keeper kicks offs go straight to the the opposite team and ends in another attack.

I hope that I never have to watch Italiano again.

Sure, but he was hired late in the piece and would have relied on Rado who has A-League experience and the club in the signings.

If the current coach is sacked, or quits, where does that leave us? And who would pick his replacement? The same management that is getting such a bollocking from fans on this site? It's a mess.
