Wtf? I was looking forward to this. Why can they just postpone it? They should default the 3 points the bastards.

Maybe we should put holes in the ring of fire pitch during international Windows.

I honk could be a blessing, gives out defenders a rest and recovery time.

I'm positive things will go wrong.

Does this mean we could have Dura and WeeMac back?

So next game is at home to CCM? Next Saturday night I believe. Dura and Rossi to start then.

When is the game going to be played?

Stupid fudgeing FFA, can postpone a match 2 days out from kickoff, but won't stop for the International windows.

Useless.

However, the upside from this is that we've got two very winnable home matches against CCM and Victory that could get us up and running for the season.

Can Krishna still make it to Fiji in time to play Estonia? Fudgeing Spotless Stadium.

A few WSW fans are starting to think the reasons given for the postponement are a ruse. Spotless is hosting a rave event next weekend and on the website advertising tickets it says this

“The setup will begin this Friday with over 100 crew,” adds Technical Producer Arian Yeganeh. “It will take us one full week with perfect weather to build.”
https://www.ticketbooth.com.au/tickets/sensation-confirms-million-dollar-production/

The event was announced before the A-League draw, so I wonder if the bad weather forecast means they have to start preparations earlier than planned & Spotless told WSW they were cancelling their booking?

Should the Wanders lose and we get 3 points or they get a fine for not having a suitable ground?

I remember we had a game against Victory  postponed due to the earthquake a natural disaster but not having a suitable pitch

due to mismanagement is no excuse.

The pitch a North Harbour last season was a joke too and that was against Victory too.

The other thing is it gives Gombau more time with the team, we could have had a game against a team just learning  the system but now it might be against a team with the system completely in place.

Definitely good for us in giving our AWs a chance to take a breath, but agree with the above comments that as far as I can tell this comes down to mismanagement and they should be docked points. What is the minimum amount of noticed required when needing to reschedule a game in the A-League? Two days is surely cutting it thin...

Was our team already over there?

Permalink Permalink

This is the same WSW which was allowed to have an extra visa player, and which has repeatedly escaped serious sanction for the actions of their fans. Doubt the FFA would dock them points over this

Seems pretty plausible that the game was rescheduled because of this festival and they just blamed the playing sufrace. The A-League has been played on some shocking surfaces in the past and in shocking conditions so that seems unlikely.

The festival building the largest stage ever seen in Australia and have a serious amount of work to do if their press release is anything close to being accurate.

such shark. I’m flying over for a weekend with the missus and it was planned to coincide with this game. How they could screw up the planning with this festival is ridiculous. If they need a week to prepare then move the wanderers game. There’s at least 10 NRL clubs with grounds around Sydney that they could’ve relocated to. Cos there’s no way they only realised it this week!!

Figuratively speaking, if we played hard-ball and claimed none of the rescheduled times fit, would there be any chance of an automatic 3-0 win since the home team couldn't provide a suitable place/time for the game to played?

Yeah I was at that North harbour game against Victory and the pitch was covered in dyed green sand. The away fans were giving the groundsman absolute shark about it

I think the game could've gone ahead if Finkler had gone out there and done some work on the pitch earlier in the week, but yet again he just doesn't contribute enough.

Feel for you mate. That's rubbish.

Been to Aussie several times to see family and haven't been able to marry that up with an away game, but I'm planning to do that at some point in the near future. How annoying for you (though I'm sure the missus isn't complaining lol)!

It's quite boring without footy.

Cold, pissing down in Sydney. Good weather for the Phoenix, albeit no wind.

I feel very flat hearing about all the other A-League games this weekend, and we're losing places on the ladder ;-)

Spain '82 is where it all really began for me. There were a few moments before, plenty of moments after, but that World Cup was the zeitgeist.

WSW now to play their games at ANZ. I guess the FFA have a thing for looking at empty stadiums. ANZ makes Westpac look full.

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Good result for us in West Sydney.  Manage to stop Wanderers getting a point out of the weekend.  Top work Phoenix.

Student season ticket would qualify for a limited view seat, exposed to the elements, far away from the bar

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

On the upside, from that distance none of the Mermaids would look fishy
