I forgot to ask, for those who watched on TV, what was the reason we had that goal early on disallowed (the quick free kick).

Thought the ref was sharke and then realised how much more sharke the 4th official was when he came on...

I'm okay with it. Given it was right on the edge of the area and the referee was explaining the decision to the defenders at the time we took the quick free kick, the only correct decision to make was to disallow it.

I knew it would be disallowed the moment we took it, and I'd be livid if we were to concede a goal like that.

so the message here is if you give away a freekick moan at the referee so he has to explain it to you and therefore slow the game down?

We took the initiative, they were moaning - again don't see anything in the rules that meant it should be disallowed, we just ended up being punished for being proactive and quick thinking.

correct. The referee does not need to explain any decisions, and defenders arguing is called dissent, which is cautionable.

Krishna also ran in and started arguing with the referee and the opposition players. The referee does not have to explain decisions, but he can use an explanation as a tool to calm the situation down and prevent it from escalating.

All in all, calling that quick free kick back was the only decision that Milliner could make.

hmmmm no it is not.  If the same thing happened on half way  it would have been play on. He could have called it back  because it was a) not taken from the right spot.  b) it was moving. He chose to call it back because he is either gutless or wanted to book someone. He booked no one so that leaves on conclusion.

obviously it didn't effect the result but it was still very annoying - I wonder what would have happened if we took it quick and fudged it up, would he have allowed it then?

maybe if refs had the smarts to allw this more often th it would stop cods surrounding  them everytime they make  a decision

the table is so close that goal difference is important. Also the mental gains of beating the victory three zip.

Who knows what might have happened if it had stood though - maybe Victory would have stepped up their game and thrashed us?  Not saying it would have happened but I think we should just be happy with the win. Crap refereeing is just part of the A League experience. On the scale of bad calls I think this is pretty low, especially because we did win in the end.

As an aside, could the ref have called it back because he didn't see the kick being taken so couldn't judge if it was on the right spot or if the ball was rolling?

You know people when you click "Quote", you can actually edit the bits between where the quote starts and ends, and if you want to you can even make the bit you are commenting on bold too. You don't HAVE to quote the WHOLE half page chain if you're just commenting on something in the last post...

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Phoenix fans. We have to win them over one fan at a time.

But I like the way heaps of embedded quotes look on the page.

Plus, on a more practical level its way too much of a pain in the ass to try and delete large tracts of text and/or select and bold sections in a crappy unresponsive phone browser

Got to agree with Patrick.  While the quick goal would have been awesome, and if the ref wanted to stop people confronting him it would have been a good way to do it, the moment he is in the conversation with the player he gives an unfair advantage.

If he was walking away form the player saying no, or get ready to play, then it happened then Id be all for it.  But engaging in the conversation brings the risk of something being seen as dodgy if he allowed the goal to stand while he had the players distracted.

and its always tough to say how the game would have eventuated.  If the goal stood a pissed of Victory player could have had a dig for the sake of it and scored, and then off the back of that momentum they score some more.

All I know is we had a cracker of a win and it was awesome sauce (when the camera was close enough to tell who was on who's team that is).

Theres a huge difference between a ref wanting to speak to someone, and someone speaking to the ref.

If someones speaking to the ref, play on

Just love it when people assume just because you have managed to get something onto the forums it means you can start doing other things as well.

As i said to the guy at the telecom shop there is nothing fudgeing smart about this phone you sold me if it was so fudgeing smart it would bloody well no what i wanted it to do and go ahead and do it instead of me getting all sharkty and ready to launch it.

I read we will be playing in the Grey strip again because the FFA wants us too? Does any one knw why they want us in grey? Is it so we look dull and boring and will be easier to kick out of the comp? and anyway why do they get to choose which strip we play in?

We asked to wear White because we are playing in Cairns at 4.15pm and it is going to be HOT. For some reason the FFA has said we have to wear our grey one, I did wonder if it was because the white is no longer one of our three strips this year but they have also told Moss to wear white and not his maroon or lime green.
