Goals aside this is a pretty poor quality match. Allowing Sydney to stroll towards goal like that was criminal neglect by our alleged defensive mids. Riera looks knackered.

I thought we were playing Perth?

And to think that none of my esteemed colleagues on this forum did not want to discuss my fav topic of couple of weeks ago! ("Should Stein play in the midfield?")

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

my thoughts on the team at the moment:

We are trying to play a style of football that gets players in between the lines, which I think is a positive thing.  There are plenty of attempts at clever little passes into players feet, many of which are not coming off, but at least it is showing a variety to our play.  We really need Carlos to play this successfully, as I believe he is the one person who can get the ball and move it on quickly, and it is a large shift from how we were playing - in the words of the Jennifer Aniston, it won't happen overnight, but it will happen.

The main problem we have is that the movement up front is terrible.  When players do make runs, it is very half hearted and easy to track.  I am yet to see Brockie or Stein really accelerate away from their man so they can receive the ball with the ability to turn and create something.  Even the overlapping runs do not seem to be done with any conviction.  We have 4 attacking players on the field and they are all incredibly stationary.  We also have a problem that despite our 4 attacking players being some of our best/most experienced, we often panic when we get into good positions.  A perfect example of both of these is the chance we butchered about half way through the first half (Stein to Ifill who had the weak shot).  When the ball was picked up in midfield, Stein never really made a run to get away from the defender - he just ran along side him.  Once he got the ball inside to Iffill, he stood on the ball, and then tried to shoot on the turn when he had a lot more time.  A better run off the ball, some compusure in the box and we would have scored there.

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight

I have a feeling he has not properly recovered from last week.

Haring up and down the field after the Glory teenagers might have aggravated it - I wonder if Merrick will bring on Hicks for the second half.

Please remind me the average age of our attackers?  I think our fullbacks are younger by a decade than our forwards.
