Poor game.

Thought Krishna did ok, but does he offer anything different to Boyd? probably not so i don't see him being re signed.

I though Krishna did well and if he had got two goals - and perhaps he should have - we'd be raving about him.

Im just not as quick to write him off as you guys. As someone else said, Boyd was doing a Totori out there for a while but no-one will be so quick to write him off.

Oh well..lack lustre first half with poor passing sideways thru Carlos..when he doesn't fire we  still play thru him.  Better to bypass.  Second half more urgency and Hicks arrival helped.  I think on balance Krishna deserved to start ahead of Boyd..especially travel taken into account.

Quite disappointed to hear about Josh BS doing his ankle in a hole. Without trying to open a can of worms it does not surprise me in the least though.

Seems like Timmins has spent enough time in OZ to qualify as an Aussie....according to Dome on Radiosport this morning. looks like a handy player...also a leftie which is a bonus. Could well get a longer contract if he does OK. If B-S injury is as bad as it looked Timmins could get quite a bit of game time from now on.
he
Has Ernie given up on Brockie as a starting option?....he's given him plenty of chances but it does appear that Boyd and Krishna may be rated higher now.

I wouldn't go that far but I can say the remaining crew have zero interest in football, particularly the nix. Can safely say they will be hoping they move to a new stadium asap

How many screamers scored from outside the box have we conceded in the last few weeks?  Having a near 40 year old hasbeen CB bend a 25 metre shot around our keeper is the last ferkin straw!!!!!!

If anything, today's game illustrated how thin our squad is, and how tough it is to win when even a couple of our best players have a day off (Stein, Hernandez). Neither of them had a midweek game as our All Whites, although Hernandez might be slightly excused due to the injury threat after last weekend. This same injury cloud did not seem to stop Cunningham though from playing ambitiously.

I never thought I'd see the day that I would rate Kenny as a better player on the park than Carlos.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

I think Roy just needs to start a few games at this level (a proper pre-season maybe).  His passing could have been better but he looked more dangerous to me then any other Nix player on the park today.  Had that shot gone in off the post we would have all been stoked.  He's clearly better at this level then Totori.

Timmins looks OK. Krishna did some good things.....I thought he was taking too many touches but he has quick enough feet to get a shot away. Should have had a goal with that shot that hit the post and just missed the left post with another good shot. Plays Ernies game better than Brockie IMO.  Boxall is a beast...loved the way he swatted away tacklers....he also did a good job on their fast winger. Boyd livened things up when he came on. Ridenton is an amazingly good prospect for a 17 yo.....his head went down after he missed that shot but shit happens in football

I think Ridenton will be absolute class in 5+ years time.  I can see him easily playing in Europe at a high level.  I also think Timmins and Krishna will both improve with more game time.

We really need that Youth League team to keep players like Krishna and Rufer match fit and to help improve their overall game play.

I feel sorry for our angry  young genga, bloody surface from the funny shaped ball game might have finished off Josh's season.

Agreed on Ridenton and Timmins - I thought Ridenton has looked class since his first sub appearance. It's easy to forget he's only 17. Has a long way to go, but I think he'll be important for us in the future.

Timmins slotted in well and is quite obviously a better player than JBS. Hard luck to JBS on the injury but he showed nothing before that to show he's up to this level. Looked like he came straight out of park football.

Hicks reminds me of a lightweight Rojas. Gives the ball away so often one wonders why he gets the plaudits he does.

Pleasantly surprised by Timmins..looked relatively comfortable on the left there, plus most of the defence looked like they had perth in their pocket, Boxall looked very solid. Hicks gave the ball away a bit too often and if Roy had scored from the couple of good chances that he had it would have been a different story

I watched this on MySky after the league and that was a game we should have won, did enough to win but just never put the ball in the net. Moss was no where near as busy as Duncan at the other end. On any other day, we would have walloped them and Perth have gone backwards. Hopefuly Tony Sage has learned that player power is bad cause Perth are a shyte load worse under Lowe than they were Edwards.

Having read this thread before posting, its interesting see how other peoples thoughts marry up with what I saw. We kicked a lot of ball away which is a bit uncharacteristic of this years team, but as someone else had said, if you had thought at round 22 we would be starting Timmins and Boxall as FBs, Krishna up front and kids in the middle, you would have got laughed at. As much as Ernies optimism is admirable, we are is so much of an injury hole that this could well be a season of what might have been had we been 100% healthy. Those injuries are now contributing to this little 'slump' we have found ourselves in. When you are at the bottom end of the squad, when your big hitters don't swing, you are left with those other lesser talented players having to produce something and the likes of Ridenton, don't have that class yet.

We looked much better when Hicks/Hickey came on and replaced Carlos (another reason why Dewhurst must go - its just so fucking basic). He was lively and actually got us around the park a bit more. Ridenton has talent and is the future but I don't think he is good enough right now. Speed of thought and action is not there and when he gets the ball, it slows down and opponents just run at him and harry him into a poor decision or cough the ball up. I thought Timmins did a job, I thought Krishna, for a striker, had a more than enough chances and did not convert but he has shown more than Brocky has. Cunningham has a very heavy touch and if you did not know it, you would not know he was an international with that kind of touch.

I guess one question is if you were starting a LB tomorrow, would you pick JBS, Caira, Muscat or Timmins? Either way, we have tried enough LBs this year and when you consider we tossed away last years 3.....

Next week Ernie gets back Muscat so that will mean Ridenton to the bench which I am in favour of cause he is not ready yet from what I have seen and most likely Timmins will start at LB.

Awful game.

Positives: Timmins looked Ok - understandably nervous but clearly has potential - not good enough for an import spot so hopefully can get Aussie / NZ status somehow. Can't think of any others.

Negatives: Too many to list.

I think the future is bright with plenty of young talent, a coach who knows what he's doing and committed owners however yesterday's team lacked mid-field grunt - just too many kids.

I think we're good for young talent next season and will need to use freed up cap and spots to sign some experience.

While I agree with much of the above, I need to comment on the bit about Ridenton.
I would be surprised if Ernie does not persevere with Ridenton at least as a sub. In absence of Youth / reserves, there is no hope in hell of having a match-fit bench / backup when 1st line payers get injured. Since Riera's injury, our midfield is simply too thin. By keeping someone like Ridenton or "Noah" Hicks playing, even as regular subs, we avoid the risk of rusty players being put on the field when we need them most.
