Red Badge - Not that bad after all

Had a guy from Red Badge just come into the shop, top bloke. A self confessed rugby fan before the 'Nix arrived, swore he'd never cross the line to football but is now loving it. Has even got his 13 year old son playing football now. Was telling me how Red Badge absolutely love the Fever and how we are so much better to deal with than rugby and league fans. They can't wait for us to be back at the Ring of Fire. The Hurricanes atmosphere is driving them nuts with boredom. Apparently there are a few guards who are just plain assholes who nobody likes, they are the ones who give Red Badge a bad name.
For all of us who were part of White Noise, remember the curly haired young steward we were calling Willy Wonka at the Vanuatu game? Apparently the name has stuck with him haha.

It wasn't the Steven Seagal look alike was it?

I'm suprised willy wonka still has a job.  He was watching the game the whole time.

brilliant, it was a laugh (so was the travelling down to that end)

I still reckon one of the funniest was the steward and the photographer (number 4) - when we started with - "Is she really going out with him?" - who  ever started that was a genius!

Hope you're looking after the Fever Zone this season!

It's cold enough to be the start of the A League season - surely it's time for it all to begin again ....

I'll be around somewhere....lurking as we do...closer to the season though it would be nice to meet up with as many feverites as possible..put some faces to names etc..can never hurt when at the ring to know someone....

Let me know anyway if this is a good idea

who gives a toss whether the security staff are happy or not...fact is a crowd of 31,500 at Hurricanes v Crusaders a couple weeks back is wet dream territory for Fever and they didn't even have to give away tix!

I would bet money on the fact that the atmosphere at the Beckham game was better than the Crusaders v Canes match..

shame thats the only game there was that many rest of season you'd be lucky if theres7k go, Ive had free tickets a couple of time and couldn't give em away. I am not a big rugby fan but will watch the canes just to support wellington shame the 31k that went on for the crusaders game dont feel the same way.

Perhaps we could get the security to record the noise coming from the YF Zone so we can hear it from a different perspective? In 5.1 of course so the ol home theatre can take full advantage.

Having sat outside of the YF zone a few times, I can say it's fairly impressive...

Well actually they did. There were 2 for 1 vouchers in the Entertainment Guide. And judging by my ticket purchasing experience at Rebel Sport before for that game, those 2 for 1 vouchers were being used a fair bit. We had a couple, everyone in my queue appeared to have them, and everyone else I spoke to was using them.

In all fairness who are you?

The guy from Red Badge doesn't have to post here, make himself known or profess his allegiances. The fact that he has would say that he as taken the time to say 'hey, i used to be a rugby muppet but this round ball game intrigues me. I like it and I think its good for my familiy. Good luck with it oh and yep I'm security and hope we can say hi during the year.'

By making it personalised, do you think anyone from YF is going to give him sh*t? He doesn't have to say dicky boo but doing so has gotten some Brownlow (MVP) votes from the lads here and gotten on side with a crew that could (potentially) cause issue. Very smart dude.

The guy has to be there, not watch the game and be happy. Is he more inclined to be a happy and compromising guard knowing the YF guys or be a hard ass thinking they are a bunch of rabble.

Cheers for that....wonder if Jonah wa sone of those that i helped leave the crusaders gane early???

As I said to Granville in the shop..I expect to get some sh^t from YF as it has always been in good fun just as the sh*t I give back is receive din the same way.

The crusaders game and the sharks game had many tickets issued as complimentary and that is available for the last 2 home games as well...

Its a shame that there are too many people who are unwilling to look at new things, ideas...my opinion from what I see at the ring is this....football fans (especially YF) tend to enjoy themselves more than rugby fans..they make far more noise in volume and certainly in duration as well with the chants usually very pointed and funny (sorry canes fans  but repeated hurricanes  hurricanes just doesnt do it anymore). i attended the sharks game and began singing  "all we want is a decent referee" (taught that to my son) and got the oddest stares!!!!!!

I am not trying to kiss ass with YF (I mean you guys are a bunch of rabble and I am a hard ass  pfft) but would like to catch up for an ale to discuss life, the world and anything else is always open..and yes if it means that we all end up having a better time at the ring......then all for that..

Honestly folks... we manage to ignore Danielsleftballs best trolling (in the main) yet we rise to this which isn't a patch on his worst efforts.

Write him off as a dullard and move on.  He's not a typical Wellington sports fan, so don't treat him like his opinion means anything.  Run along Jonah... we've got better things to do.

The Security guys are only trying to do a job. they did pretty good last season. Especially when we hear stories from our fans in Australia. If some knew how to behave or drink more sensibly, there'd be no issues anyway.

I just wish the stadia would have more than 3 CCTV cameras inside the ground. 30 blocks should have 1 camera for every 2 blocks.

Hey there LG

Believe me when i tell you there are far more than 2 or 3 cameras inside the ring..more than 30 actually.......I know it doesnt mean everythign gets seen but at least its better than having 2 or 3.....

We counted 3 casino cameras in the stadia it'self, not the ones in the walkways by the shops / bars etc. The more the merrier. As Nix fans proved. 99.9% knew how to have a good time at every game without being stupid.

Couldn't agree with you more LG..in fact maybe even more than 99.9%  lol.....the Xmas hats idea for example was a good idea and showed a point of differrence, as does the singing, chanting and genrally good natured banter that comes from the YF .....see you at the ring some time

I reckon at our first game at home this coming season a chorus of that old song from Gary "the KF" Glitter sang. "Hello, hello, it's good to be back, it's good to be back.........
