haha it's catchy and easy, but how bout something a bit more
tasteful and witty (and clean!) like this: "I'm blind! i'm deaf! i
wanna be a ref!" Anyone st apts boys will surely know the beat of
this one
Hey I swear with the best of them, and a family section will mean
sh*t seats where I can't see. I don't care so much about the
chants, they're a laugh and w**ker is not an issue in our family
(my son's 4, he's pretty good at it now!) it's just the drunk, rude
obnoxious sorts that get me. I groan and yell and shout and scream,
emotions running high, but I don't have to call the goalie a c***
when I'm mad.
That's all...
That's all...

I know one senior ref in Wellington who I suspect was giving Mr.
Sheilds advice all game from the Fever Zone.

Part of our goal is to create an intimidating atmosphere - as a
spokesperson for the club told us, our team get abuse hurled at
them everywhere they go, so we need to return the favour. To
create that atmosphere, sometimes we need to use the occasional
swear word.
I don't imagine that it will stop too many kids coming to the
games, as I think that most parents are aware of the fact that kids
hear all these words in the playgrounds anyway.
I'm sure that there is a few swear words in the Victory
supporters chants, and they're getting over 40,000 to some
games.
I dunno frankie, are we not above the "but they do it too"
argument?

no we are not. NZ teams find it hard to play in Aussie
(in all sports) as the crowd have an extra edge when they play
us. This creates an intimidating atmosphere which is
difficult to overcome. We are just creating the same.
Melbourne were bricking themselves when we got back to 2-1, becuase
the crowd went up a level - all that noise drives on our
players, and makes there players nervous, which helps us.
That is why we are trying to create an intimidating
atmosphere.
Were you at the game kiwioppa?

A dedicated family area makes a lot more sense than censoring the
chants.
To be honest, the rest of the ground felt like a family section and the YF were only do what football fans the world over do.
Say how you feel lads, and let everyone hear it. I never thought I'd be enjoying myself so much at a game again since leaving the UK behind.
We family-laden folks can occupy the rest of the ground.

yeah I understand what you're saying mate. and yea! couldn't

am all for the intimidating atmosphere, but not at the expense
of integrity. ok that's quite an extreme way of putting it I know,
but there are many positive ways of creating the
atmosphere without resorting to cheap shots, ala the refs a
w***** conversation going on in another thread.
I can only testify for Liverpool, (ok only on tv:D) and
Anfield is a cauldron of noise. But they create their atmosphere by
being positive and supporting their own team.
do feel you gotta find that balance, cos I like taking the
mickey out of the other team too, but in a positive way is always
best.

you have never been to Anfield, have you? They threw
cups of urine and sh*t at Manchester United fans last season.
I will repeat that for you - they threw cups of urine and sh*t at
Manchester United fans last season. Also, a large number of
their chants are abusive, and ladden with swear-words. They
particulary like the "who's that lying on the runway" song about
the plane crash that killed a large portion of the Manchester
United team in the 60's.
Don't talk about things that you don't know.

All true, and I think accepted BlueBoots.
I was there at a pre season game and some fool just started
yelling "You're a c***, you're a c***" at no-one in particular and
- to his deep shame - he wasn't even boozed to the point where such
an outburst could be expected, if, obviously, never condoned.
I think it's fairly well accepted that such ridiculous abuse /
chanting is not going to be tolerated for any length of time, and
that 95% of the chants, though somewhat risque on occasion very
rarely cross the line to the mindlessness of said fool.
Stick with us in the YF zone, and we'll let societal norms
deal with the plonkers.

I'll put my hand up as I think I started the "Referee's a w4nk3r"
chant at least twice. In my defence, I genuinly think he was. If it
offended people, I'm sorry. It is supposed to be a family day and
I'll wash my mouth out tonight. Hopefully this didn't leave a sour
taste in peoples mouths. Please accept my apologies and return for
another cracking game on Sept 9th.
Maybe next time the referee wont be w4nk3r

anyways, I know there are always the minority who ruin things,

ruin the suport we give our team.
what point are you trying to prove anyway? go on and create

they threw it at the fans, and there was a lot of it.
They also chanted abuse when Alan Smith broke his leg, and rocked
the ambulance when it took him away after the game.
