it's a shame that ref doesn't make himself sick on a regular basis, a few less kilos and he might have been able to keep up with the play

this is probably a competition where the only way we will get anywhere is if the refs stop being bias apparently tonights ref is from where else but Adelaide. Now i know why a goal was disallowed

Jeremy Christie's booking was yet another example of referees in this league trying to make the game about themselves. The best referee in this league is Sarah Ho. She doesn't have an ego, just gets on with the game and I can't recall her getting a decision wrong all season.DKP222007-11-30 23:19:32

have the phoenix been reffed by a kiwi yet if the aussies are reffed by people from their town how is that fair?

Yea, we've been reffed by a Kiwi. He was trying too hard to not be biased towards us, and it didn't work too well. That was back when Daniel was still diving a little bit though...

Shes a Lino not a referee. You didn't see her 2nd game where she had an absolute shocker and missed 3 obvious offsides.

Most of those calls were well overdue.

I only heard the game on the radio however it appeared that it was not the ref that cost the game but a failure to put some easy chances into the back of the net. That said it would be interesting to see that rationale that has refs from a given region refereeing a game involving their home side. It may be a good rationale and I am sure it is there if we look for it. All said and done Adelaide were the ones with the yellows and a man down with the Nix hammering the goals all night, it may pay to look elsewhere for solace

we didnt help ourselves, but the ref was also rubbish. disallowed one goal for who knows what and denied us a blatant pen. referees should be subject to scrutiny, like anyone else. they have a very important role. he was poor last night

Are you 100% sure the refs from Adeliade?

Zetter is from Adelaide

Mate of mine works at the FFA in Australia as an OB. We were texting during the game and even he was at a loss to understand some of Zetters decisions, alot of which weren't exactly miles from where the referee was standing. We both agreed on disallowing Daniels goal.

He was saying they have had major problems this year with referees doing unusual things. They have stood down or suspended more officials in the first 14 rounds than they care to remember in recent history. He did say that that the Kiwi jokers are right up there in terms of consistent performance. I had to laugh and ask if it was consistently bad....

There are more important issues why we lost this game than the ref. All teams get these inconsistent performances.

What about all the other games where our downfall was our own doing? Poor defending etc.

and as for the chants 'same old convicts always cheating' south australia, adelaide only non convict state.   the disallowed goal was abit light but players always get caught if u have the arm on the back or the shoulder

Yeah, refs are rubbish. That's the only reason good teams lose games. Just ask Graham Henry.

Seriously, let's not use that tired old excuse that we were beaten by the ref last night!

Even without the disallowed goal from Daniel and the penalty that wasn't given for the ugly tackle on Filepe, we had a tonne of chances to win that game.

If we'd taken half of them, we could have won by 3 or 4 goals regardless of who had the whistle or the flags or where they live.

we were lucky to win that game.

Mr Fatty Arbuckle aka Zetta was a completely abysmal incompetent fool.  Kerry Prendergast would have been better!!!

a few poor decisions. Why didnt that get get carded when he took out Daniel on the left touchline in the second half? Prob cos he already had a yellow and the ref had no balls

I'd have had Adelaide down to about seven men - they were deliberately taking our guys out without any attempt to go for the ball.

Some folks I know who support other Aus sides reckon there were two more clear-cut penalties not given our way.

How's my driving? - Whine here

You know it's bad when you don't get the decision and the Aussie commentator says "That was a dead-set penalty"!

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

People. We all know we didn't take our chances and blew it. We are not just trying to blame the ref.

That aside the ref was a f**king disgrace.

We wont progress anywhere when we continually get "The Treatment" from match officials. It kinda makes the Opposition win seem rather hollow IMHO.

We had 20 shots, you had 9.
We had 13 corners, you had none.

Lucky is an understatement!!

wouldn't u guys be affarid that u will start to lose support if u dont start getting the results. i thought u would be up there in the mix of the top four well u got two straight home games and hope u guys win both games.

meh good teams win despite the referee...

Something I have noticed is that some fans are very quick to blame the referee. It is becoming part of the Phoenix culture in my opinion, and isn't something we should be encouraging

blame the players. We had 13 corners and hardly made their keeper make a save all night. 2 strikers for the rest of the season is a must.

True but amazingly you dont seem to see the same decisions happening in games involving 2 Australian teams.

yeah I was gutted last night. I really wanted at least a reuslt with such a big crowd in attendance.

Adelaide played a great game by the way. They were fantastic defensively, and took their chances clinically. I hope you guys go all the way this year.

Well actually I do.

The same attitudes and conspiracy theories are held by Warriors fans in the NRL, and it is just immaturity in my opinion.

By all means give the ref as much abuse as you want during the game, but for guys to come on here and week after week blame the referee's is poor, particuarly considering that we have had opposition players sent off against us for three consecutive weeks.
