hillarious. to look at a more possitive spin on this issue, it would be good to have ricki in the stands with us - may I suggest aisle 21? i'll buy you a beer ricki....

If it was only Ricki in the stands, no other Nix supporters, he would outnumber the GC fans 2:1

As we went searching for post game noms we spotted one Mr O'leary come towards us (wearing a blue polo).  So greenie cracks out 'the referee is sh*t, and he's wearing blue...'.  Completely ignored us and continued walking past us.

This is wrong and must be appealed.

Hopefully it won't be sent by a rocketship and intercepted by aliens like Moss' appeal.

3 is way too many for the little oi you retard the throw was from here! one max! O'lesry is a clown and for th FFA to back him like they have just shows that they are morons as well. I have no issue them backing refs but they also have to balance it with holding them accountable for the stuff ups too.

Making Rickie Herbert sit in the stands at Skilled park will probably increase the crowd by 50%.....

I would not let O'Leary referee a sunday league social game.

Every game he referees is diabolical. I did hear something about Waitaere not letting him do any or their games. Is there any truth in that? I know the FFA are trying to save money but come on, Why do we have to get this sh*t of a referee far too often?? Last sunday was one of his better games and he was only diabolical.

Breeze or Beath(spelling?) any day. Mind you, professional referees might help and get Pierluigi Collina in on a 12 month contract to bring them up to a decent level. This guy was the very best.

As someone who sat in the stands on Sunday night swearing black and blue my mum could call the game better than o'leary I am guilty of abusive misconduct.

However there does need to have action taken against players and coaches who abuse refeees, but at the same time USELESS referee's need to be spoken to as well.

The fact that a) Chris Greenacre got a yellow card for pointing out how far the GK had advanced the ball and b) that Andrew Durante (the captain) got given a yellow card for talking to the ref is out of line. Players need the ability (especially the captain) to question the ref's.

I saw Dura after the game and quizzed him on what he said but he was very PC about it all. I just hope like hell he got in something decent.

/end confused rant.

Every O'Leary game is a bad game. Perhaps he doesn't want to be seen favouring a New Zealand team hence nails us for literally anything and letting the opposition away with far worse discrepancies??

Which ever, he's still crap! This performances ranks up there with Steve Walshe's at that Wellington V Cantab game a few years back.

Ricki was also protesting about where Galekovic's free kick was taken.

"I challenged why we were sent back two yards when Eugene Galekovic put the ball outside of the box when the incident took place inside the six yard box," the Phoenix coach said.

I'm still kinda stuck on the "The MRP found Herbert's words and actions severe enough to warrant a three-game suspension when a one-match ban is the minimum sanction for this charge."

What was actually said? If they have the brains to overturn an obvious red card blunder then if what he said was nothing, it would not attract a 3 match ban.

I'm sitting on the fence until there is a sauce as to what was actually said.

what do you think you could say that would warrant tripling a ban? Just more feckless rubbish from the FFA who ignore the blatant thuggery that goes on every week and go for crowd pleasing nonsense like this and the "diving" of a few months ago. this stuff all smacks of the people running the game not having a feeling for footballjames dean2010-12-07 13:24:26

O'Leary is junk reffing Northern Prem games let alone A-League.

Surely the FFA can find a better ref than him somewhere... anywhere!

Oh no doubt, but then look where we are. This is not the EPL we are talking about. We are talking about a culture that promotes it big hits (league, State of Origin) and we are talking about officials that do either state league or northern league in the main winter season

What are we honestly expecting?

They don't have cash to bring in Colina as someone posted because the clubs themselves can't run in any shape to make money. Do you think Colina is going to come here when there is Champs league in his own backyard and I'm sure he gets paid more as a consultant/inspector on that level? Whose going to pay him? The FFA can't prop up the clubs they have let alone a referee consultant and the last one ripped them of 300k.

What are we honestly expecting?

I'm not saying the league is f**ked or its doom and gloom but a little perspective as to where we are and what goldfish pond we are swimming in is needed.

Agree with what you say about cracking down on the thuggery, but are you suggesting that allowing players and coaches to abuse referees as much as they like is having a feeling for football? Give me a break. Btw, yes. I am a referee.

I don't know what he said to the referee so, unlike a lot of others on here, I won't comment on the length of the ban.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

For Ricki to have to sit in the stand should not make any differance to the team. If fact he will be able the see more than he would at ground level.
That said, 3 weeks is very harsh. The only thing I can think of that could get that sort of sentence was if he called the ref a cheat, which I would doubt.
O'Leary should be demoted for a week or so, as he must know by now that he had a shocker of a game. He is probably too thick skinned to even consider that it could be him.

He'll have a week off anyway as we're not home and they don't fly him anymore (despite him being better - when not reffing us - than many Aus refs).

I agree with you guys too, but then I ask where is the consistency?
Joel Griffiths grabbing the lino's nuts and getting a yellow? Kevin Muscat always abusing the ref and never getting in trouble for it.

On the other hand, Vukovich was given a huge ban when he lightly slapped the ref's arm in the Grand Final a few years back, Durante got a yellow for talking to him as captain.

No consistency.

The likes of Muscat abusing referees can only be sorted out by the referees themselves dealing with it at the time. There will always be problems with consistency in dealing with dissent/abuse because it's about where individual referees draw the line. Some will be more tolerant than others.

As for the Dura thing, bearing in mind that captains have got no special privileges in the Laws of The Game, again I don't know what he said so I'm not going to touch that one either!

Do the A League DEMOTED officals.....the lino in the Melbourne v Brisbane game would be way ahead of O'Leary for gifting Brisbane a point. [ good for us though]
