Have just finished reading George Best's book Hard Tackles and Dirty Baths. His and Ricki's opinion of Tommy Docherty are rather different. (Docherty writes the Foreword for A New Fire.

GB Says "Docherty was the kiss of death for me. He was plain deceitful in his dealings".
RH Says "I got on realy well with TD. He was not only my football manager but my mentor and friend. I found him to be an incredible man and so genuine".

GB said that Docherty had told the media that Best had turned up 15 minutes before a game, drunk and with a blonde on his arm. He denied two of those things and in looking at Ricki's wedding photo, even he turned up with a blonde on his arm.

Ricki said at the book launch that he had avoided slagging anyone in the book.

Ah, looks like a mix up between Mt Smart Stadium and Mt Wellington the national league club.
I think it refers to their first international game in charge - we beat Mexico 4 nil and the game was p[layed at Bill McKinley park - Mt Wellington's homeground
