One thing that could be an opportunity if Sam Morgan did get involved would be for trade me to get into ticketing. The surcharge on every transaction from ticketek seem a touch extreme. No idea whether he would have the slightest interest in owning the phoenix though.

Personally I'd rather Fairfax  weren't more involved than they already are.

Why not?

What's another set of sharks to join the ones we are already adding to.

A lot of people don't want this person, that person or that company involved. Frankly I am a bit surprised people are being so picky over this.

Worst interviewer ever. So horrifically negative and he clearly had no idea what was going on.

Let's be honest.  If we were going to be picky about the people we want involved, our club owner probably wouldn't be at the top of the list.

Because I am assuming most people here are fans of the Phoenix and want the club to continue. We don't know the exact financial status but we do know there are problems. I would have thought anyone that would ensure the continuity of the club would be made a bit more welcome.

THIS, as I keep saying. Is Ali Syed happy to drop half a million bucks a year in keeping an A-League team on the road, and will he or won't he make good management decisions (at least as good as Terry has been making)? That's all I worry about.

I'm very confused. The interview suggests terry has got a 100m loan -Not the sale of the club. Clearly the loan covers  Terry's multiple businesses- where does the ownership sale of Century City Football fit in?

Why would this foreign guy get involved in a string of companies debt ridden, ($9 million at last count)and losing money hand over fist?

coupled with Terry obviously having little or no equity in his properties, hence needing offshore financial help to bail him out, it would be the worst investment around.

I don't get it and it worries me.

How do you know Terry has no equity? Following recessions is actually a very good time for cash rich people to make a lot more cash by bailing out cash poor people. It's not a good time to be selling property but in five years it should be OK.

Could be all sorts of dodgy reasons for it.

On the other hand, maybe you/we/the DoomPost don't know everything there is to know about Terry's businesses.

There is a zero % chance of that happening - these kind of tie ups never eventuate into anything. I'll repeat what I wrote in the other thread

The more I think about this the more worried/annoyed I get. There is absolutely no reason for this guy, who is being brought in to recapitalise Terry's business needs to take a stake in the Phoenix (a small, loss making part of his property business). I don't see why or how the Phoenix has become so integrated and integral to Terry's businesses that any part of it needs to be sold, and it scares me a bit that so much focus seems to have come down to saving the 'nix.

I really would like to know some more details of the deal and what rights this new guy has in terms of decision making, what his plans as an investor etc are. This is being sold to us as him saving the club - is it actually that dire, and if so, was this guy the only potential investor?

There are a lot of unanswered questions and I would kind of like to know some of the detail beihnd this.
Yeah its like a kind of big screen that's made out of some kind of smoke !

I'm going to reserve my decision on this because

a: There is not enough details yet to get angst over (or alternatively positive over)
b: Its interesting that people are fine with Terry owning the club but the instant someone else comes along that has the perception of being dodgy, the guy has been tarred and feathered before he even puts pen to paper. People seem to forget that El-Tel is not exaclty Mr Bubble and Squeaky clean and its why we are in this situation to begin with.

Football clubs change hands all the time and this is nothing new. Look at the recent Blackburn ownership change where the players were teeing off before they got the details. All quiet on that front now after getting the story though....

I suggest people keep their powder dry until more details emerge.

Mr. Serepisos had about 4 Ferrari's and 2 Lamborghini's.  I think he's downt to two Ferrari's and the Lamborghini's.

Let's switch this up for a minute, what's the best case scenario for this new ownership structure?

Nix have long term financial stability, sign 3 or 4 quality players for next season and finish in the top 2. Ricki (and hopefully Tony P) have the same control over the day-to-day running of the club and all is wonderful.

Worst case is it all turns to custard and the club falls over mid next-season.

What the hell is the point of having a sports car in Wellington, anyway? Sure, let's see you go from 0 to 100 in 8 seconds going up The Terrace.

On the other hand, I did once see a DeLorean parked on The Terrace. True story. No, it didn't have a flux capacitor.

You must remember, of course, that many people here think Ricki is part of the problem and would declare Ali Syed their new god if he got a new coach like he did at Racing.

Any Portsmouth fans will tell you about strange owners and us too at QPR. I wouldn't wipe my arse with Paladini nor Briatore whom single handedly just about folded the club.

With Terry we have a guy whom has a genuine love for the club, promotes it as best as he can. Whilst the details are not for public viewing at this stage, it will be interesting to see how it pans out.

That the club can survive is important. I think any ideas of player loaning back and forth wont eventuate but don't be surprised if there's a "friendly" on the cards.
