I find this very exciting.  The "puritins" need to get real and to start living on the edge.  There's something right with the world today.  And everybody knows it's wrong.  But we can tell them no or we could let it go.  But I would rather be a hanging on.

Yellow Fever Announces Financial Restructuring, New Sponsor
 
Following months of speculation, Yellow Fever can announce the possible negotiation of a potential new sponsorship deal that may be worth as much as $30M.
 
The deal, with Former Nigerian Senator Anyim Pius Anyim,The Former Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, is the result of months of negotiations (principally via email) led by YF's chief negotiator El Grapadura.
 
"As a former Senate President, l find it very difficult to invest such amount of money in my country due to my position in the Government such amount of money may attracts some suspicion which may lead to my arrest, that is why I need your urgent assistance, Please indicate your interest in the area of a lucrative business viability in your country," Former President Anyim said in his initial email to YF, "Note there is no risk involved, as I have personally inquired about the right channels of executing this venture successfully."
 
Asked whether YF had to make any payment to the Former President, El Grapadura said: "of course, we made the standard forward payment that you would expect for a commercial transaction of this kind.  It's just like dealing with any Former Senate President with mysteriously stashed petro-dollars.  Completely above-board in every way."
 
The deal is expected to secure the future of YF through to at least the end of the week.

Hey. That chap wrote to me saying that a namesake of mine had left a lot of money and the senator would help me access the funds.

I had to deal with his associate Mr Ura Mugu to provide my bank details.

When it comes through I will buy a gold season pass and a Stingray (or UFO interceptor)

I like santandner as a team, dont see much transfers between the two clubs as of yet.

But who knows, Rojas might get himself a transfer there. Dont think we would see any players coming back here though.

I like this partnership, if it goes through, but does have a little dodgy side to it.

Assuming he's taking it because it is bad.
 
Loans can be taken to restructure debt,and to expand a business.
 
All this talk is just speculation. So I don't understand where the angst is coming from.

Exactly.....I can't see what the problem is here.
We are weeks away from the IRD liquidating the company that owns the Phoenix. The gaffer goes out and tries to stitch a deal that keeps the whole thing affloat. And now people are angsting about what sort of character this invester is. Who gives a rats arse.....his money is as good as anyone elses. If it saves the Nix from going under I would even take money from Gadaffi, at an instant.
 
Worst case scenario......the money does not come through. No white knights step into the breach and the Nix cease to exist.
 
Best case scenario....the money gets loaned, Terry and the Nix live happily ever after.
 
We are not talking about choices here. All this speculation about Gareth Morgan etc is just that...speculation. THERE ARE NO OTHER DEALS ON THE TABLE.
 
So the guy ends up with half the Nix.....who cares. Terry will still run the show. I would not expect much of co-operation with Racing S. But who knows....if their owner is also half owner of the
Nix there could be some stuff going on.
 
At the very least the Nix might be able to say to Rojas.....play for us another season and we get you a decent trial at RS. I would have thought that with Rojas's spanish speaking background that a chance at playing in Spain could be a major drawcard. He's not Div 1 material yet but who knows.....he could end up playing Div 2 oneday

Gadaffi might be looking for somewhere to lose his money at the moment actually.

But yes, I'm of the same view.

Only concern will be if he will be a hands off owner - hope so - or if wanting to get involved, then to treat it as a football business and not a toy with players/staff to be flicked on at a whim (yes it's my bitterness for Mike Cashley).

Zinidane I think your post highlights all of the problems with this deal, but also simplifies the choice so to remove the nuances.
 
1. Are we in fact just weeks away from the Phoenix being wound up?  You certainly wouldn't have thought so from anything that been said by Terry or anyone else around tyhe club.  Certainly we knew his businesses were in trouble but why the club, a very small loss making part of it should be such a weight has never been explained.  If that was the case then I think the supporters should know, and deserve to know, what is and has been going on.  Not being able to see accounts is a massive problem
 
2. You say there were no deals on the table.  (a) we don't know that's the case but more importantly (b) there has never been any suggestion that a deal was required or that Terry was interested in selling.  Again this has come completely out of the blue - I'm sure if it was the case that the club was going to disappear there may well have been a number of interested parties who would have come to the table.  No-one has been given any kind of opportunity to even put a deal together.
 
This guy has saved Terry's business - well that's great but I don't really care about that.  I don't understand why he should or needs to take over 50% of the club.
 
Terry may be a bit dodgy but he is a known quantity.  It's  a very different kind of dodgy when you have unknown middle eastern guys operating in shady circumstances outside of the country.  Anyone who doesn;t think that bad owners can have an effect on the club is (a) delusional and (b) clearly never watched the knights 
 
Rojas getting an  opportunity for a trial at Santander is really little comfort for the sense of unease that I feel at this deal.  The santander thing is a red herring, we shouldn't be distracted by it

So far the only deal on the table is the loan.

There is the potential for a future tie up and sale of the club.  That's nowhere near a done deal and the focus currently is about the loans and financial support of Terry's companies.

The two things are nto dependent on each other.

Like most football fans the world over, we want our local club to stay local, we want it to be part of the community and reflect the character of where the club is located in society and geography and all those other things that make Wellington good and that the Phoenix should reflect those values and connect with its local community.
 
Whatever you think of Terry, and we all have our own opinions of the man I suspect, he has managed to get this club of ours integrated with the Wellington community pretty damned quickly, it is a local club with local connections.
 
I think, ideally, whether it's Terry or someone else, I'd prefer the Nix to be a locally owned team, representing the best of Wellington/NZ in the Aussie A League, our own little bit of homegrown professional football team we can be proud of.  I'm fairly worried about where this deal is heading...
