Add him to a long list of A-league players who have flopped after coming here with a decent history.

He'd be near the top

No a few ahead of him i think.

Even for the Nix I'd put him roughly on par with Gao, but below the level of a George (BBG) or even possibly Elrich (given how much hype there was for him). Jade North would also be pretty up there.

I'd say there were a few mitigating circumstances.

He injured himself prior to coming here then had niggly injuries the entire time.

He also didn't have a proper pre-season with the club.

On top of that he just generally didn't seem happy here nor did he seem to settle.

Not totally indicative of lack of skill or effort; it can happen to the best of players. I hate to compare the EPL to the A-League, but look at Di Maria at Man Utd; good player, but just didn't fit there.

p.s. I noticed he banned me on twitter. It might be because I linked to the video of 'Wake Up Jeff'.

iirc, apart from the injuries and being asked to develop into a new role, most of his appearances were with a bit of a moveable feast of changing players around him and varying formations, without a preseason. Then he got a spell on the bench before he got some more game time.

So, I do have a little sympathy for him and think he's a better player than we saw.  There were moments of quality, but it never really looked like clicking in the role we wanted him to play.  Seemed to me he also lacked the pace to work in our system.

disagree (not that I am including first seasoners like George in this). And at least Elrich scored a screamer and he wasn't an import.

And probably was on minimum wage whereas Sarpong would be on a lot.

Totori also got involved a lot and seemed to want to be here and be playing

Sometimes being cold is the only way . I have not even a good memory of when he played . i'm sorry but i am not gonna beat around the bush looking or thinking of anything great he has done for us . But if i must he did hit the bar maybe once i think .

so hey thanks for hitting the bar that one time .

Its like ants hudson said we need to get serious here . we are supporting people who play average . lets up the ante a bit ourselves , just not with flares  :)

so i stand by my words no matter what anyone thinks .

What are you explaining to your son? That they are losing or why they are losing?

Maybe explain that it comes with the territory of supporting a club.  You love them through the highs and the lows, whether they are top of the table or bottom of the table, you support them and hope to the good lord they get better, but even if they wooden spoon every year you ride that crappy roller-coaster with them, then when they achieve new heights the reward comes back ten fold.

chefmivec should clearly be writing to the Phoenix telling them that they are committing child abuse every time they lose, and to stop doing so deliberately.

i didn't really word that so well but it is not easy telling him we lose because he gets upset and angry . i hate making him sad every week . we will still go on sunday tho  , i think his expectations are a bit high after last year

Tell him to become a QPR fan as well, then he will really learn the true definition of being a long term suffering fan.

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Hammers do a lot better than the Hoops. We support them in some kind of "paying penance for past sins" type scenario.

Is this turned into a parenting guide? Guess that is good lesson for him to learn, sometimes you win sometimes you loose. You may bend/put a positive spin on the statistics, another lesson for life! Mmhh, 9 lost and 8 win/draws maybe a bit hard to sell.

You think? Meh! Talk to me about being a long suffering fan! QPR fans have got nothing on my mob. ;-)

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

i'll trump your long sufferingof  being a QPR fan with being an even longer suffering Birmingham city fan (but ever hopeful)
