because both our current keepers have been a big part of our failing season.
Krishna had a very proven track record at a lower level, pace and obviously an ability to listen to coaching. He didn't impress much on his first team outings when he started.
Watson did what Ernie asked him initially to get a contract and he hates losing. Anyway, there were times when I thought Watto might have the goods, but he hasn't shown anything this season on the limited opportunities he's had. I was hoping we'd see a bit more from him. Sometimes it's just getting that scrappy goal which settles a player or increases confidence.
I won't complain if Watson goes, but I definitely feel like he's copped an unfair amount of shark sometimes and was never quite given the opportunity to really develop through regular professional football. The managers we've had and the general state of the team haven't been conducive to developing a young target man. I remember seeing Watson in the HBU side a few years ago and he was bossing it. I think he's the sort of player who is very much affected by his own confidence and time on the pitch and the Nix haven't done much to foster either.
It ties into a bigger issue though about how we develop talent and bring youth through.
This guy has the name of two of the biggest A-league non-legends. Shoulda signed him.
Owusu Kwabena
Leganés to FC Cartegna
What about Monty Patterson?
Is a natural left winger (can play either side) who is probably looking for first team football as he doesn't look set to crack it at Ipswich. Would come cheap IMO and would certainly offer more than current options.
Abbas def going.

Sign better footballers. He is just another Cameron Lindsay in a different shade of blue.

This season is clearly sorting boys from men, and I don't think we need more boys. We do not have enough capable men.

What's he like? I hear he played with AK in the past...so he comes highly recommended. It would be interesting to see him in action tomorrow already, but really curious if anyone has any info on him other than Wiki/Transfermarkt.

Except he's had a first team performance and signed professional terms, something Lindsey never managed in the UK.

EDIT: I think he's Eugene Dadi's long lost brother
Only seen highlights, but looks like he mixes Finkler’s set pieces and playmaking ability with inform Paracki’s passing and composure. Actually looks pretty solid even if he has just been released from Lithuania, could be great if Kalezić knows what he’s doing!
Just looked at his highlights package on youtube; I'd have thought he would have scored more goals than he has. The highlighted ones are quality.
Yeah I thought the same. The highlights reel is pretty good, some great set pieces, nice goals and assists. But he hasn't scored very much in some pretty average leagues - so we just have to wait and see I guess. He has skills, that's for sure, but can he make a difference? We'll soon see!

I didn't say he was must... just an option, something we are limited by because of import rules.
Howieson seems to be doing well and has his confidence back - but I still don't rate him personally, I think his touch and option taking are poor too often.
Screw Colorado Smith - come to the A League and back to NZ, our reduced schedule will be good for your dodgy hip and back!

Yeah he'd definitely be good as a backup option, but to be honest he's not really up to this level in my opinion. When you're 21 and you've only made one first team appearance there's got to be questions asked about his talent and his potential development, especially when there are four first-team regulars younger than him.
For me there are better players we could sign from ACFC than Howieson, I agree with what you say there. Tavano is having a blinder of a season and he can play anywhere from DM to striker, he'd be excellent backup. De Vries, McCowatt and Harry Edge are three other Kiwi nationals who could make the step up.
And hell yeah Tommy Smith!

Not sure if his physical condition is up to the speed of the A-League.
Consider Paracki who is only now coming to terms with it. Smith might end up being a walking wounded.
I thought I'd replied to this. Must have been another thread.
We're gunna end up taking North or Conflakes innit
Tuiloma - where is he, what is he doing currently?
Bring back Cleberson.
Rossi on the way out?

Fair enough, just realised that i implied he’s better than Howieson which is a bit stupid. Still rate him
Wellington Phoenix have missed out on the signing of talented Auckland City striker Ryan De Vries, who has agreed to terms with J-League 2 side FC Gifu.

Good on him. This might be a tough gig, but he might use it as a 'springboard' later on.

Good on De Vries - the Japanese leagues are very competitive and well known in Asia, even J2.
This could be great for his career and who can blame him for not wanting to play for us at the moment?!
