All of them are also still pretty young... there aren't too many young players holding down starting spots at respective pro clubs around the world.

Midfielders apparently reach their peak around 26 / 27, defenders a little later like goal keepers. Only strikers seem to sometimes be better younger whilst their a little quicker, more mobile and perhaps fearless.

Yeah I'm not expecting them to necessarily hold down a starting spot, just to see something from them which means that they have that next level up

Ridenton absolutely dominated a couple of SS Prem games last season.  Was significantly more convincing than one player who is now a first team starter was at that level.

yeah but at the end of the day you need players that are able to an impact and we are waiting for a "break out" performance from these young guys - something to show they can be match winners.  Ridenton has been tidy but also want to see more

He's most likely going to play near the base of the midfield. As a squad player, if he can be tidy and reliable there I'm happy.

I think Ridenton is the most promising out of all of them. I don't think he's ever really let us down when called upon - never really set the world alight either, but hey.

I thought he was a little soft in the challenge when he first came into the team... seems to have sorted that out.

It might just be how it looks, rather that what it is, but he always seemed to lack urgency in his play, whether defending or trying to support attacks.

From standing beside him at a local match a few years  ago, he sounds like a surfer, pretty chilled.

Can't Dario operate in the #10 role?

Then we could use Rogerson/Fenton/Parkhouse as needed, or whoever the new signing is?

GF was shark last season and him and coaching staff would be aware of that. Ideally this season we get what we expect from him and he's probably the exact player we need for the balance of our squad. Either that or an upgrade would do

Forget it, we make do with what we have. To me it looks like a pretty well balanced team now we rely on he new coaching team to make them hum.

He improved towards the end of the year but his lack of pace is an issue.  Was way out of depth when being asked to play as a false 9 by Ernie

I think once coaches decided Roly wasn't being a playmaker and gave Gui the job back, he did well for the last few weeks. He is up to it, I reckon.

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

I think he's certainly got enough in the tank for this year, but I'd be very disappointed if he signed on for any longer

would be fine with gui if he didnt take up an import spot. I think he hinders the team in terms of pace and defensive commitment. Perfectly fine player in his own rights but an import spot needs to be valued by the club, especially now more than ever. I can see him starting in the first few games of the season then being dropped to a bench role for the latter parts.

True, but no one talks about the future and Hamish Watson. Its always 'how the fudge did he get a 3 year extension' so by comparison, he does get slagged more than others.

I agree with that. I also did not see LG's post as either minimising the offence, or being "OK with one of those things".

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Let me clarify what I meant.

I am in no way condoning or trivialising that behaviour. But when someone suggests on a forum that we have a "No Rapists" policy (Which I actually agree with the referrer, we should have no persons of any proven sexual offending playing for our club), then all I did was ask a question.

Is that what happened? So please do not get all pius and accuse me of endorsing any inappropriate behaviour. All I did was ask a question and for clarification. It appears some have jumped the gun and made wrong assumptions. Nothing new there.

Is that clear enough for some??

Back on topic, do we need another striker? With one import spot left, where would it be best utilized or should we save it until we see how the current squad pans out?

My bad, I assumed you would have known what went down and took the "Are you sure?" as being facetious, as he hadn't actually been done for rape. Shouldn't have jumped to conclusions!
