Again with Elrich huh.

I loved his goal he scored against CCM...

He has done the odd good cross...

But he isn't someone I write home about.

By the way, do we really need another thread on this topic?

Dinko needs to express something about Elrich, so even if it is locked another thread will no doubt appear...

I voted "No" even though I support the Sydney.

Where's the "HELL NO" option?

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

There should be a 'Yes, but not as Marquee' option as he's clearly not a bad player but not good enough to be there at the expense of a quality experienced player (preferably defender) WITH commitment and a high work rate.

I think he showed some promise vs Newcastle and that might be enough to keep him. Not really sure. I've been a critic of him from the start but I know he has it in him.

I think he's good enough to stay, just not as a marquee

Too lazy for my liking and crossing is abysmal. all hits the defender or over to the opposite touch line. Only aset is when he can be bothered, he can be friggen fast!

I think he can stay if he can be happy with a large pay cut and in the off season is at the gym for 2 hours at least a day.

YES!!
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

If I had one more beer last night I would've hurdled the fence, run onto the field and scissor kicked him. So frustrating

I'm sick of talking about him.....I'm sure Ricki, Terry and Tony have made up their minds....

Maybe he doesn't want to stay - and thats why he's not giving 100%.....?

If this type of crap takes the same course as similar threads that have started during the season then early next season many will be thankful that Ricky has the reigns and not some of those who post on the forums.

By my reckoning at some stage this season many have posted complaining about most members of the squad and fortunately most have been able to show that some on here are not good judges of players at all.
Me i will reserve judgement on him just yet he is still in the early stages back after  a very long injury break. So you want him cut just who do you propose to replace him with and you need to be realistic none of this fantasy crap.

I think he is a good player and has shown flashes of brilliance. I would like him to stay for another season (not as marquee player though) and see if he can pull out anymore stunnning goals like the ccm goal.

I can't agree that Elrich is still in the early stages of a comeback, given that he's a fulltime professional footballer who can train for his money over a 40 hour week and get fit. Crikey, I can get fit with a few long hauls round the bays with the odd hill thrown in, and a bit of 5-a-side football in the summer, and if I was a pro footballer, then I'm sure my fitness wouldn't be an issue because I would train and keep fit, because that is what the fans' money pays me to do.

When might we expect to see Elrich fully fit, does anyone know? For my money, I don't see him tending to work his arse off out there each weekend. If that's criticism, I think I'm entitled to it. Deliver, or go. Simple.

Got to be yes,cos you know he can deliver. Who is giving him the confidence to try?He needs to look up a bit more often.Bit like me wife.

Yes, but hopefully NOT as the marquee player as some have already mentionned.

He HAS to play better if he's the marquee.

I think he's a good player but I wonder what instructions he is being given?  Our whole tactic the last few weeks seems to be to get the ball out wide right for Elrich to cross early.  Lochead has hardly had a kick on the other flank.  Why oh why does he not run at people and/or cut inside and get into the box?  If he can mix it up a bit more he will be very dangerous.

If he's not giving a 100% it's probably because he's reading these threads every week! If I was a Phoenix player I know I would be.

He can't cross, he can't shoot, he can't take on his man, he can't tackle and he certainly can't head.

Please, anyone tell me his use?

Perhaps that's where the confusion over Elrich's fitness comes in. People saying he isn't fit enough to take players on and get to the by-line or make a bee-line for goal. Excuse me....??

Elrich looks so one dimensional.
And for the role is performing, his crosses are generally crap. He had plenty of opportunity to deliver match winning crosses yesterday, but failed.

Certainly we should not keep him as marquee, and I would really like to see him replaced completely.

I sure hope some of our players never visit some of threads that have been posted on here this season,if they do Im sure some of them would be wondering just who their fans are .Yes sure its fine to have an opinion but some of the stuff that gets posted really makes me question if some of those posting really are Phoenix fans.

Didn't realise so many Yellow Fever members had their UEFA A licenses.

I agree Ahmed hasn't had the desired impact we all would have liked. This year was about establishing and acclimatising the club. The same can be said for a few players, especially Ahmed, having been injured and out of regular first team football for so long. With a proper pre-season under his belt and under the guidance of Ricki, Ahmed will be a fantastic asset for us next season.

Some of you are worst than All Blacks fans.

Since when do you have to hold qualifications to criticise something? I could say the same to you - you need a UEFA A coaching license to comment on anything to do with football or Elrich! Elrich has been poor for pretty much every game he has played this season with flashes of brilliance. (which seem to come once or twice every 5 games) Not good enough. The fitness excuse doesn't really work anymore and you would think he would've started to 'acclimitise'.

The entire team was poor v Sydney but Elrich has stood out time and time again with his crossing straight into the defenders legs. It's no wonder people on here are getting sick of it. We are fans - we care about the club and thus are guilty of criticising somewhat harshly at times. I don't think this is the case with Elrich, though - he has been sh*te, plain and simple.

I do think he should get another chance next season (I have been a critic, but I do see something there - no matter how well he is hiding it) but there is no one who could say he has played well for us so far. It would be ok if he showed a little bit more commitment but he looks lazy and like he is not really playing for the fans or the team. Maybe it's all perception or simply a confidence issue but that is what I see.

He had a shocker against Sydney as his crosses were all over the place - but he got down the wing pretty well to get into the positions in the first place and has the talent to turn it around next season.

Just been reading the Sydney FC match thread for the Phoenix game. Makes interesting reading, and their members seem to share many of the sentiments held here about Elrich.

I'd definitely keep him, remember that goal against CCM? He's also set up some of our better goals (Corner for Rees vs Newcastle, Felipe sliding in against Perth) lately and we look stronger when we break with him in the side. If he has a good preseason, gets some more pace back, picks up confidence and starts firing those crosses in properly he will be a force for us.

Former socceroo, ofcoarse hes going to be our marquee. I dont think he would sign again if he wasnt our marquee player. Lets say he doesnt sign on who will you like as our marquee and be realistic.

definity he can actually cross hold the ball and cross it in, though he should go for goal more often. If he wants be the marquee again he's got to perform in the last 2 games.
