...Just a thought on my travels back from Mars but I understand he has been released by Fulham and is unattached...& ...going to the Olympics.
What chances of him being signed as the last remaining signing???

I guess it just depends whether Ricky thinks he can fit into the team because he has said the last signing will be based on the gaps he sees from the game against CCM. Im guessing one more defender.

I see he's noted as "A Defensive Midfielder"..could be interesting to see how he goes at the Olympics?

Yea an experienced kiwi like Elliot would be a quality last signing

i dont think we really need Simon Elliot and to be brutally honest i think that he can do better than coming to the A league. Dont forget how awesome Timmy Brown was when he was healthy playing for the newcastle jets... i would go as far as saying he was one of thier best players. Man_utd_fan2008-07-20 09:58:36

but he hasn't really been 100% for so long. He does laps at training rather than join in with the whole squad. Flaming injuries

what about being signed as a guest player. Not sure on the rules for this but would be a boost to crowd numbersif he played 3 or 4 games

Elliot would be more likely to sign for a lower division english club and try and get noticed again now he is fit.

perhaps in a few years when he is a bit older? Finish his career back home?

-Isn't he 34-35 NOW ??...I would have thought the lower EP leagues would be going for youth or bigger name ex prem league players?
Anyway time will tell...personally,I'm gonna see what odds the TAB are offering.

yea he is getting on a wee bit, thats why it would be ideal if he finished up with a couple of seasons here

He would get more money in lower leagues in Eng. I think he would be quite sort after in Eng because before his injury he was doing real well for Fulham. Would be a great signing for the Nix

Simon Elliott wont ever sign for the Phoenix, sorry lads.
He wants to stay in England, if that doesnt happen it would be back to the States.

Wouldn't sign him anyway.
Too injury plagued for my liking. Also as shown a handful of games for Fulham doesn't mean quality, El**ch showed that.
Remember prior to signing there out of the blue, he couldn't even make the all whites. That been said he did look ok for Fulham when he played. uNFORTUNATELY THAT WAS TWO YEARS AGO and before two torn achilles tendons.
No thank you, I'd rather go for Vicelich.

Not to mention the fact we have more midfielders you can shake a stick at...

Shoot yourself.

We need a striker and a right back. Elliott's neither - end of.

Yup and reight now we need additional cover at right back, Hearfield did ok, but we will need more cover for the season I think.
Queenslander 3x a year.

Eillot is past it im afraid. Personally i dont think stu jacobs should have picked him as one of the over age players.
I would have much preferred Ivan Vicelich
If he did arrive at the phoenix i think he would struggle getting in the starting team.

Mulligan signed. end of discussion.
