Assuming we had all games covered live or within 24 hours by Sky, how many would you watch each week?

I would watch as many as possible. so maybe all games if they were available. I already watch all games on Iraq Goals
I would prefer to watch them all live on tv though. I like to record the games and transfer them to my computer.Stefan2009-08-25 16:52:10

Just the Nix. the others I'll catch highlights and the occasional replay, but i don't go out of my way to watch any other A-League games live.

Depends on whether or not the 12th A-League licence goes to Wollongong

Probably watch a couple other games if there's a derby or good matchup on.

Almost every game.  It's killing my internet usage to keep up with how the kiwi's are going now and I doubt I've missed more than 1 in 10 games since the Phoenix started.

Incidentally, I love nipping down to the Kings with just a couple of others to wtach a non-Phoenix game.  No stress on the result, a quiet beer, talking bollocks - Magic.

I'd watch as many as possible, particularly enjoy watching McGlinchey playing for CCM, Smeltz for GCU, and usually watch Melbourne because they're defending champs. And all the Phoenix away games.

I'd rather watch A-League than pretty much everything else Sky has on their sports channels (except maybe Yankees vs Red Sox series on ESPN channel :P)

I've only missed two games since season started. mainly to see how smeltz, moss and mcglinchey are going. gutted that I have to watch it on a pixelated laptop screen.

At least 3.  Signed up for Sky 2 weeks before season kickoff as moved to the Waikato, so could not see any more Nix games live, plus was looking forward to watching the rest of the A-league (didn't have sky when in Palmy).  Very very dissapointed when I discovered that they weren't showing them.  Might miss the odd Sunday non phoenix game if busy, and the odd Saturday night game when out, otherwise probably the whole lot.

Are you being sarcastic? If so, this thread has only been up for 4 hours!

If not, oh.

I would probably watch 3 or more I reckon, I've watched all the live games they've shown so far.

Not so keen on delayed coverage though, just isn't the same.

I like to watch pretty much any live football games but did make the effort to watch as many A League games last season.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

I would totally do this too. Would love to have them all recorded and avaliable for me just to chuck on my Ipod for the train rides to and from UH. 45 minute ride so could cover each game a day if i watched 1st half on way in and 2nd on way home

Ahhh now thats a real dream

Definitely every game now, preferred live but will record and watch all the replays as well.
Programming the Sky decoder like a fiend now... every A-league programme, football game, highlights.. 3 times over if I have to.
If I've already seen it i'll scroll through it super fast ..I want Sky to get the message..
...."we're watching all the football! "

I can't wait to start the new month so I can use my internet broadband to watch the A-league live. Thanks to Sky for showing me how great and cheap the internet is for live A-league football.

Now I probably never subscribe to Sky until I get all A-league football live. I can really live with that type of life. Why should I pay more if Im not getting what I want. I might as well pay a little extra for the internet and get all the A-league matches with a drop in quality. I can the hook broadband internet via computer onto my TV screen too.

I love todays technology.

Of course I would watch Sky TV because nothing beats Live TV coverage compare to internet. But the internet is catching up. Most people who are interested in A-league and in the Phoenix in particular follow the internet and don't bother subscribing Sky. So the numbers they get for the Phoenix games will always be lower because people go to the internet instead to watch it.

I watch the Phoenix without fail and will try to catch CCM, GCU, NQF, and MV games as I love seeing kiwi's playing for other teams in the league.  I'd watch 3 games at least if work didn't get in the way (and if it did I'd record them).

I seem to remember watching the feed on Sunday and seeing a counter at the bottom. There were at least 750 people watching that feed alone during the game. Now obviously that isn't everyone in New Zealand - its an international feed - but not everyone in NZ is internet Savvy enough to watch this stuff on the internet.

So, conservatively I would knock off at least 3/4 of that number, so maybe 188 people from NZ watching that feed?

These 188 internet Nix watchers are either not watching on sky because they are like me and protesting their stupid decision to destroy the A League in New Zealand by not showing any of it live (bar the nix), or simply can not afford to pay their stupid subscription prices. Or some other reason I havent thought of

Either way. 188 times the $64.49 it costs to have Sky with Sky Sports equals $12,124.12 that Sky lost during that game on subscription costs alone.

In answer to the poll question, I have never missed a Nix match - beit live or on tele.

When I had sky last season I'd watch 2-3 live games a season, depending on whether we were playing at home or not.

The poll kinda needs a "I don't watch live football on TV" option though...imho

Mike, what basis do you say a 1/4 of those people where from NZ?

You can't just pull numbers out of the sky.

over 16 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
I can and I just did. My example wasn't meant to be indicative of the actual viewing numbers - hence the addition of the question mark and the word "maybe". I don't have the resources to pull off an accurate number.

What I wrote was purely what went through my head when I saw the numbers of people watching the feed.

I apologise if that wasn't made clear enough.

It's piracy so we have to remember that most of the people watching that feed are probably not inclined/able to be paying for a subscription to sky regardless of whether the A-league is fully available live or not. The flipside is they could all be sky subscribers but are away from home and are watching on thier laptop.
