So what lost us the match Cosimo et al?

Im the first one to vote that the midfield was the reason for our loss? What the hell? Smeltz and Coveny were left isolated throughout the first half, with the only way up field through a combination of hoofball and lucky deflections. Gao was lazy as hell (I was at the stadium and he was on my side of the pitch - he only does anything once he gets the ball) They completely dominated out midfield and were pushing us back most of the game.

We did better in the 2nd half but the game was lost in the first.

none of them look like Brad Pitt basically they are like the rest of us. .

Did you not see Feverish on the chardonnay today? Good thing John Key wasn't there!

the loss was my fault. I was on the chardonnay and not the lager.

i found myself saying early in the 2nd half that if we lost the game it would be due to our strikers not firing at all.

To be honest we had a solid 10 minutes of football in the first half, only halted by feraking cheating aussie bastards faking injuries to break the flow of play and sure enough they scored right after that.

Why do we allow our flow to be broken like this?  Sometimes it seems we're playing in a rigged league because teams like Queensland pull this BS almost every game and it has exactly the effect they desire.

Hmm, As much as I enjoy a bit of doom and gloom in reality if Kwasnik knew how to use his head on the back post and Leo had hit his shot a metre lower we would be celebrating like we'd won the league.

in reality if kwasnik had simply niot been in the starting lineup we might of had a bit of usefulness on the left flank, although it cannot all be blamed on himhe was our worst player by a country mile. You win some you lose some the nix's problem is they seem to lose half the games they shouldn't have and RH probaby is shagging one of the football gods wives behind his back and thinks he doesn't know but he does and this is what we get for it.

Totall agree it should have be Leilei Gao rolling around faking injuries to break the flow of play

I think defense was good enough, same with midfield, I think the big problem was every time we have a chance to shoot we turned around and went backwards, or looked for a pass...why are we so scared to have a go?????

Midfield was too slow in the first half to join the attacks. That's why we were going backwards a lot of the time.

Play like we did in the final 15 minutes........ not scared to attack in numbers. players making things happen[ AND SHOOTING], both full backs showed what they can do but why leave it so late. 1st half  effort  was so poor......Starting the second half with 10 players was also so
" UNPROFFESIONAL".....  sorted sum up the whole performance,

Cos then if they miss everyone gets right on their backs like they're the worst shooter in the world (see: Leo Bertos)?

Leo IS the worst shooter in the world... apart from maybe Michael Ferrante, and definitely Reinaldo.

How does Kwasnik let one in between himself and the post? Stopping that happening is all your meant to do when your there for goodness sake! Good to see Ricki agrees too!

Does anyone know what the deal was with Bertos (It was Bertos right? It happened so fast) taking that free kick so quickly and just booting it straight in to their entire team???

That's just what he always does. ALWAYS.

I presume Leo was trying to get their player carded for not being back 10 metres, but in my experience that never works anyway.

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

Why dont we just shoot?

I dont see what would be so bad with at the end of the game 20 shots 6 on target or something.

At least we would be keeping the defence and the keeper on their toes.

Internally:

They need to pre-imagine specific targets around the goal mouth like that Canadian Chick who scored in the goal against our young ferns. Be certain what you aiming at and change direction to prepare for the strike and attack the ball, pause for fine tuning aim and let it rip. There should be plenty of psychological practice in shooting and finishing.

Externally:

They need to shoot from different angles and various depth to mix it about and back themselves for half chances. It mucks the defence position about as well as testing and changing the keepers position if they can pull it off. You want the opponents defence to lose a bit of teamshape as well as some timing to open better opportunities to score.

Imagination/creativity to pull off the above comment would help. It is the unpredictable and the unexpected nature that scores goal. At the moment we have been reasonably predictable and occasionally look like the NZ Knight team of old.

A great team defence is based on shape and attacking prediction of the opponent because they can naturally be reactive and not proactive. So our strikers need to surprise their defence because then it would be easier to score goals.
