When considering the prices, just not consider for the individual, consider it for the mum and dad and kids in tow option too. And why have a latte when a normal coffee will suffice so to speak. fancy food might be great for the corporates of course.

It's like a BBQ, Men like meat, tomatoe sauce and bread, women (& Metro sexual males) like things like green salads. ;)

I think they have considered the price, which is why they are aiming at the $10 mark.

It will be worth asking if they considered kids options, but seems to me a smaller portion of some of these, like the pasta or the rice, could be workable. Whether the kids get one each or have to share will depend on the parents, but they will at least have more choices.

The simple solution seems to be the bolded bit from the article. If they just let different caterers compete then the quality would quickly improve. However, I also agree that food can't really be a major factor in deciding whether or not to go to a game.

Competition could work, but would put a big premium on location.

Harmon is a good stick. Playing with a deck stacked against him too.

Beer selection will still be determined by the brewer of choice of the Stadium hirer. The Phoenix dictate the beer we drink (they sell the rights to the highest bidder...).

Anyone whinging at the $10 price point is trying too hard to complain. LG the number of people you have in your group/family doesn't really matter, you have to compare the prices to what else you could buy. For ten bucks you can't even get maccas. You could go to the supermarket and feed the family at home but that's about your only option for anything substantial under ten bucks.

Hi All,

New to Wellington, NZ and the Nix. First time commenter.

Is there a tailgating get-together anywhere in the city? Something like they do in the states at football (NFL) games? Wouldn't it make economic, and community building sense to get together before entering the stadium? I'd be keen to bring the kids, in the car, to a spot to swap foods, remark on good/bad form of the team/coaches/organisation/referring and generally shoot the shit before the game begins.

Wives can bring their salads and SavBlancs and the boys can drink whatever they want (swapping samples on homebrew anyone?). Portable BBQs with sausages, burgers etc....

There are a couple of car park yards on Thorndon Quay/Road that would suit.

Thoughts? (or does this seem too hard?)

Choice idea, but unfortunately not legal.

Instead, come and join us at The Backbencher before every home game. Usually a good few hours before. All welcome (Backbencher is a family friendly place).

Just remember in the last two years the coke bottles have gotten smaller and cost more, the chips have gotten smaller cartons and cost more and the pies have disappeared except from one area we told told earlier in the thread.

No, I care more about the fan enjoyment at the game. The Fun Police and the ultra loud friggen music are my other concerns. You may not agree with me but at least I am trying to improve things by being vocal than shutting up and accepting substandard stadium treatment.

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

I've seen them listed along with Chips, Hotdogs, Drinks etc at most of the food outlets along the walk to my seats in aisle 26. Last game, we got one from the aisle 25-26ish outlet. Not the Mrs Macs ones from pre-RWC tho, which was a slight disappointment.

Love that this thread has gone from "the food is pants" to "ooooh look, gourmet noms" to "where did my pies go".

Jesus wept, I'm surprised we get invited back.

sushi is gluten free if they use white vinegar. Pays to ask if you react to gluten.

You lot are suggesting McDonald's as an improvement to the current stadium food?

I think you've had too many warm Tui's.

I don't go to the stadium to enjoy myself. I go to watch the Phoenix.

I don't usually need to eat at the stadium, but I would like a decent beer. Heineken from the Pavilion Bar doesn't count by the way, it's also crap.

Surely we can do some sort of deal where the big breweries don't get EXCLUSIVE sales rights? I'm sure there are plenty who would still drink the crap beer, particularly if craft was a bit more expensive.

The hirer of the stadium decides the beers on offer.

How about in the pavilion bar I wonder?
Do understand why exclusive deals happen though. We have the same at work, and it just makes sense for us.

Allegedly
