Facts on our keeper from the A League site

Keeper                 Saves          Goals
Ante Covic             27              3
Clint Bolton            20               5
Tommi Tomich        18               3
Robert Bajic           17               8
Michael Theoklotis  16              5
Liam Reddy             15             6
Danny Vukovic        14             0
Glen Moss                12            9

Enough said

The stat proves that Ante Covic plays behind the worst set of defenders in the league as the opposition can get off 30 shots on target, nothing more.

Ok DrQuack, that would mean Moss is behind the best defence in the league using your logic...Right?

Than please explain to me why we have had more goals conceded than anyone else?

Ah no. Danny Vukovic would be behind the best defense in the league, but I wouldn't expect you to be able to read your own stats that you posted.....

We have conceded more goals than anyone else because the ball has crossed the goal line and ended up in the back of our net more times than anyone else. Duh! I'm struggling to see how you managed to correlate my comment regarding shots on goal to Moss being behind the worst defence because we've conceded more goals than anyone else. Shots on target and goals on the score sheet are completely different and I've seen many teams put 3 times more shots on goal and still lose 1-0......

Until such time as you can even understand your own logic, don't even try and use mine against you further still to smack your dumb ass down.

not much point talking about formation with the Phoenix midfield/forwards really. With Daniel and Felipe all over the park - it doesnt make much sense to label them 4-5-1, 4-3-3, or 4,1,2,2,1

Good call, that is a very sensible argument.  One issue, Moss' saves have been of quality and at crucial times (Sydney 2nd half etc).  I'd bring Paston in more for his dealing with high balls which looked a real worry against Adelaide

To be honest guys i'm pretty sure the starting lineup will be the same...Just going on Herberts selections so far and the emphasis he's put on the same team the last few games.

----------------------------------------Moss----------------------------------------------------

Christie-------------------------Dodd------0'Dor--------------------------------Lochhead

-----------------------------------Aloisi----Johnsen--------------------------------------------

--Ferrante---------------------------- Felipe (attacking)-------------------------Daniel

---------------------------------------Smeltz------------------------------------------------

Bench: Paston, Old, Brown, George.

I would like to see brown start ahead of Ferrante but i wont hold my breath.

Dont agree with me please. You well get called football ignorant or a dumb arse. Thats way easier than putting up a reason to keep Moss on and to keep our No.1 on the bench.

those stats look a tad worrying but i'd still have moss, his saves have been crucial and, bar maybe 1 or 2, the goals wouldn't have been stopped by Paston in my opinion.

Looking likely Covs will start - Ferrante out and may not even be in the 15 with Brown coming onto the bench...

The main problem with this set of stats is that they don't take into account the difficulty of saves - there is a big difference between easily claming a shot from 25 yards coming straight at the keeper, or saving a penalty or a one-on-one type situation.

Stats are the last refuge of the man who doesn't understand the game.

I have no idea what kind of a keeper Paston is, but Moss is doing a decent enough job.  The defence has looked a lot better in the last couple of games, despite conceding a few goals - the whole goalkeeper argument distracts from the really curious side of the squad selection...  With George showing that he CAN play, Brown almost ready to play and Elrich arriving, in the weeks to come it's going to be interesting to see how Ricki sets out his midfield/forward options.  He certainly appears to like 4-5-1, which is a pity because unless your wide-men have real pace (Daniel doesn't, Elrich does), then you struggle without the 2nd man upfront.

Its gonna be two up front according to the papers today. I hope Felipe and Daniel do move around and not stay on their wings too much. Might be a tough day for Johnno and Aloisi though if they don't do it in some organised fashion

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

Moss is doing a decent job, I really liked how Paston was performing for the Knights at the end of last season. I think we have one of the better goal-keeping rotations in the league, that'    s for sure.

starting line up out, 1 change- covs in for farrante, so double attack with covs n smeltz it looks like.. hopefully looking to bring brown n george on about 75 in to kick home, with ferrante if needed, altho probably feerante ahead of brown as riki has said he will be cautious with brown(here'es hoping he's not)

the way i read it was :

----------------------covs-----------------------

daniel------------smeltz--------------felipe

------------aloisi----------johnson-----------------

lochhead------o'dor------dodd-----------christie--

----------------------moss--------------------------------

Herbert said the covs would 'spearhead' the attack.

true, it did sound like that, which is probably a decent idea, considering covs is much more suited to holding the ball up, look for smeltz to basically play a second striker style position tho, when u put strikers even in attacking midfield they'll always push up that little extra

This is a game that we will hopefully win.

We've looked likely on attack all year, just lacking some killer punch from Ferrante, Smeltz, Coveny etc.

Perth have scored one goal all season and the goal-scorer (Harnwell) is not going to play I don't think.
