Terry, it's hard to know how to even thank you for all you've done. As a kid growing up in Wellington I always dreamed of seeing pro football there, but felt it would never come true. There seemed to only be slim hope of seeing us make the world cup again. The Nix revolutionised football in this country, and it's thanks to you. Sometimes I still can't believe that it all really happened. One of my lasting memories of you will be of the huge smile you had when the All Whites beat Bahrain, it was written on your face how much it meant to you. Just like it meant to kiwi football fans. No matter what anyone says, if the media keep trying to make drama out of all this, the amazing memories you've created for us all will live on. I'm looking forward to the day I can take my kids to Nix games and give them what I always hoped for as a kid. You are, and always will be, a hero of mine. Thank you for what you've done for football in this country!

Thanks Terry for
A) saving NZ a place in the A league
B) Bringing the team to Wellington
C) showing that a crowd at a NZ sporting fixture can create atmosphere and noise
D) Getting the AW's to the world cup
E) Occasionally pushing the oval ball game out of the limelight
F) Bringing the Beckham machine to NZ (and making a profit!)
G)The Bahrain game being in Wellington - without you it'd have gone to Auckland in front of 15,000
H), Daniel, Ifill, Greeacre, Brown, Dadi, Hearfield, Paston, (etc) and of course George

I've posted something similar earlier on another thread but this is the right place.

The most important thing in my life is my son (age 9).Followed by the Phoenix , Liverpool and music.

Jr and I have missed one home game in 4 years. We've always had a great time at the STadium , and each home game is out favourite time of the week.On with the stripey's , scarves, beanies... grab flags and off we go.Parked in the same place in town , same seats for 4 years , same food , same beer...No matter how sh*tty a day I've had at work , no matter how sh*tty the boys play , we have the BEST time. In years yet to come , when Jr doesn't want to talk to me , we'll both be able to look back on these games and remember how good a time we had .

If it wasn't for Terry stepping in when he did , we may not have had that opportunity.Jr has met a lot of the players , has photos from these meetings on his wall.During the world cup , we were invited to Marco's flat for a chat ; Jr still talks about these things.

So , whilst I'm sad about Terry losing control ,it was best foir the club going forward. But the one thing that no-one can take away form either me or Jr is the memory of the fabulous times we've had ( and will continue to do so). For that , and on behalf of Jr , thank youvery much Terry and good luck with the other issues.Youv'e left football in NZ a lot healthier that when you came in;for that we should all be grateful.

Terry,
There can be no better testament to what you have done for football in Wellington and NZ than the kids I see running around the local park with their Phoenix shirts on emulating their heroes; Ifill, Bertos, Brown and co.

You have added an incredibly enjoyable, frustrating, rewarding, challenging aspect to my family's lives - the Nix has been a roller coaster ride I wouldn't have been without for the world.

Sir, I thank you.

He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

Thanks Terry,

you have created the most passionately followed sporting club in the land.
You put your money on the line & went with your heart, & for that we all owe you.
I hope you will venture down into the Fever Zone ( maybe even bring Tony P with you) & see the passion you have created.
I wish you all the best with the restructuring & I truly hope you can bounce back.

Cheers - see you in Aisle 21

Cheers Terry - your passion and dreaming big created something that matters so much to so many Wellingtonians & even some out of towners

You built a team and environment that appealed to people of all types and the stadium became another part of Wellington's many fun activities to do. I dragged along all kinds of people who would never normally follow sports/football and they all had a great time. You inspired the mighty Fever and the team you built and sustained became loved by many

I hope the circumstances of your exiting doesn't taint your own enthusiasm for the Phoenix and you continue to be a part of this new found football passion so many kiwis now have

long live the nix

Terry, you have been a legend.

Not only have you changed the scope of football in NZ, but you've brought it into so many households that wouldn't have seen it otherwise. You started something. Something BIG. There are kids who are going to grow up dreaming of being Phoenix players, and countless others going to games week after week.

Thats all thanks to you.

Well done, stepping down gracefully the way you did is respected.
You are a legend and will always be welcome in the fever zone!

I still remember the semi against Newcastle as the best sporting event I've ever been to, Terry made that happen, and that will live long in the memory, and on youtube where I watch the highlights about once a fortnight,
