But the problem is that the journo finds out what Terry's up to and, if he thinks it's something that'll piss off his unsecured creditors, rings one up and spoils his day by telling him "Hey, guess what that guy who never paid you is up to?" It just ruins the poor bugger's day. It's cruel to Terry and it's cruel to his creditors. If the creditor had found out himself and rang up the DomPost to have a yell, that would be okay.

So: doloras thinks she knows more than the journalism professionals, that the journo thought he would piss off the unsecured creditors, and is now laughing with the sheer joy of ruining some poor bugger's day. Well, that's possible. Or you could just be a crazy bloke on a forum working on a basis of prejudice.

Frankie Mac is so keen to oppose anything that yours truly has to say, he pretends he doesn't know how tabloid journalism works. Yes the journo does like making people angry and upset. That sells papers and page-clicks.

It's not as if Terry was the first, nor will be the last wealthyish person to end up as a bankrupt. plenty of others out there whom have force various businesses to close because the too wouldn't pay their bills early. I don't condone Terry's business practices but you will find most extremely wealthy types got their stash in similar fashion - except Sam Morgan and the Trade Me wonder story. Wish I could come up with a venture like that!

From that stroy...

"He is scheduled to be discharged as bankrupted next month.

Yesterday he said he was trying to get his life to "rise from ashes" after his bankruptcy"

...best of luck to you Terry.

Also from that story: "Serepisos - who was born in Greece and whose birth name is Eleftarious"

I didn't know that...

I note some arsehole at IRD is still going after him. Arears in child support apparently, considering his 19 year old son and the son's mother both live with Terry, i fail to see wtf it has to do with IRD. I also thought child support finished at age 17.

Regardless of his business situations, Terry has always looked after his boy and i am left wondering why this is happening. The mother doesn't appear to have complained.

And amazingly the media just happened to be there too. Really conincidental that. Perhaps the IRD have a leak or the Police.

He would owe child support to the Government I'd imagine. If you don't have a specific agreement with the Mother then you make payments to [it might be IRD] and they pay her automatically. So in circumstances where the Father stops paying, the Mother still gets the financial support and the Govt goes after the Father for the arrears. So instead of moaning about some 'arsehole' at IRD going after Terry, just consider that you [through your taxes] are helping fund Terry's playboy lifestyle while he doesn't pay his debts....

The one thing he has always done was look after his son. All else aside, it smells of someone within IRD still with a beef. Amazing how the media found out.

Staying the odd weekend and school holidays does not mean living with him in the eyes of the IRD. In fact until shared Custody arrangement reaches 40% of time, Child Support payments are not reduced.

Not a lot pisses me off more than people trying to dodge their responsibilities to provide for their Children.

If you are a bankrupt, can you still be liable for debts to IRD? How does that work anybody?

Still has to be paid.

Certain debts are excluded from bankruptcy by law. You must continue to pay any:

  • Child support and maintenance orders
  • Court fines and reparation
  • Debt that you have incurred after you have applied for bankruptcy.

I'm 53 and have taken guardianship and parenting control over two of my grandchildren. I can't really afford to but we happily did so because we have saved their lives not just literally.  My wife and i struggle, but it is worth it. If we didn't do this, we'd most like be two grandchildren deceased and that is not an exaggeration and i know that neither of us could have lived on with that on our conscience.

Sometimes,  life throws up hard as challenges, the rewards can be fantastic. Such as watching a little boy and his sister getting a chance in life in a safe environment and not in CYFS care.

Thanks guys, much appreciated. Its never too late to do the dad type thing.

But back to Terry, his business life and his home life are two different things and i dont enjoy reading people berating him because of his poor business dealings when it comes to his son. We have seen him with his lad at various Nix events and there is an obvious bond and love there.

I guess if this had gone un-noticed through the family court no one would have said anything, but very coincidently, the media seemed to know about it which to me smells of a nark and that nark is either in the IRD, the Police, in the Airport staff or Courts. How else could they have found out?

Would any of us like to be in that situation with cameras and microphones in our faces whilst trying to sort out a personal family matter? Like shit we would. As I said, business is one thing, family is another regardless of what we all think of Terry.

Sorry LG while i dont agree with the coverage this has been given.I have no sympathy at all with him being called out over some of the crap he has got away with.I have a mate who was screwed over by him not paying his bills and how the FK he gets to live in Greece for 6 months just does your head in.Bastard gets away with FK all.

Despite what Terry says this would not have come as a surprise to him. The IRD do not issue warrants unless as a last resort. This is a continuation of the way Terry conducted business. Bury head in sand till the last minute.

I can see where you both are coming from and i too was surprised at 2 months in Greece. I wonder who paid for that. But i am seperating the business man from the family man. I make no excuses for the business man part of it. But for a long time someone at the IRD  has seemed to have targeted him. He is not the only rich person in NZ whom has done dodgy dealings and i hope that the same person or persons in IRD are going to target others and splash them all over the media.

But on a family note, his boy is 19, IRD payments stop at 17 or 18.
