I'm fired up for this. I had been feeling a bit uneasy, as I think Adelaide are a quality outfit - but then thought about the team we can put out, and thought BRING IT ON.

Ok so no Dodd, who is one of my favourites (and I don't think he's slow to whoever says that) - so it's gonna be Old and O'Dor. Fingers crossed for that one from me.
Mossy is on fire this year - so no problem there. Likewise Christie and Lochead have been consistent performs.  Just no brain explosions this week please defence.

Aloisi and Brown deep in the midfield. Then it gets very exciting - Felipe, Daniel, Elrich and Smeltz. What a great four-pronged attacking weapon. My pick 3-2 to the Phoenix lads.

I'd say 3-1 to us. And yeah, this time we're going to score first.
Then 2-0, then Adelaide get one with 20' to go but they can't get the equalizer.

10-9 to the phoenix. 10-10 if Cleberson plays.

Here's the matchday squad from the A League website...

1.Mark PASTON (gk), 2.Jeremy CHRISTIE, 3.Tony LOCHHEAD, 6.Tim BROWN, 7.Ross ALOISI (captain), 8.Vaughan COVENY, 9.Shane SMELTZ, 11.DANIEL, 12.Richard JOHNSON, 13.Steven OLD, 14.Steven ODOR, 17.Vince LIA, 18.Ahmad ELRICH, 20.Glen MOSS (gk), 21.FELIPE, 22.Royce BROWNLIE. *one to be omitted

No Cleberson, Ferrante, George, Costa, Draper, Spoonley and of course Dodd.  I'd pick Brownlie to be the one omitted.

hi,

i am pumped for this game, should be a cracking match. ross will get a roudy entrance.

is anyone traveling down for this one? my prediction 2-0 AU, beltrame is on fire atm and with burns set to come back into the starting line up we will be on fire. ccm to lose 2-1 to sydney earlier that day and we leave hindmarsh that night singing "we are top the league, say we are top the league!"

Damn, where do you guys get all that optimism from? Is it out of a small brown bottle, or rather, a dozen small brown bottles? I'll be dreaming, DREAMING, mind, of a 3-2 win for us - only because I do reckon we've got the firepower to hammer anyone on our day.

But that defence....I will be over the moon with a point quite honestly.

Hope Djite is still injured.

Because with football, the week before doesn't matter if you win? :P

And yep Djite is out for a fair while.

Adelaide are looking on form and if we can leave there with any points id be stoked!

djite is out for another 3-5 weeks. costanzo is out for 2-4 weeks. we just signed some kid from melbourne knights for short term, we have milan susak ready to step in for costanzo. and djite's hole is easily filled by geraldi, dodd, or pantelis.

Uncle Steve is right, the reality is that this is our hardest single fixture of the season in my view. Adelaide are the best side in the A League this season and I expect them to win the title. We did very well to draw with them in the home game and could do so again if everyone fires. More important than the result is that we regain full form especially key players like Shane and Daniel who have both been just under par in recent games.

i agree adelaide are in good form at the moment and play nice football,i think  we will get a draw but if our strikers can get some goals we can sneak a one goal win.

I'd be happy with any points from this game, as long as its not another 2 - 1 loss.

A win would be a perfect start to 3 weeks away!

I'll go out on a limb and say Adelaide 2-1.

But I'm happy to be proven wrong.

yeah for this game our defense will have to play out of it's young, babypink skin and our attack will have to fire like a V8 - looking forward to the Elrich/Felipe double penetration though, i'd hate to be Adelaide's anus
I like tautologies because I like them.

I think if we can work the counter well we might have a chance of stealing a point or even three, but the thing that worries me is that recently, sneaking wins is not our thing...

We did well to get the Melbourne and Adelaide draw, and i do agree the first Jets game at home was unfortunate, but in this league if we want to contest for any sort of playoff spots we need to stop SNEAKING wins, and ground out some serious results.

We have the attacking side of our game down, althought a bit better finishing wouldnt hurt, all we need to do is get the back line communicating more with eachother and not look so flat and well...sh*t...at the back.

We have scored the second most in the league, but weve also conceded the most...Tells ya somthing.

you're right mate, I agree with you.
There is one thing that everyone seems to forget though (perhaps cause we concede too many goals early).
Coming as the underdogs, the Phoenix have nothing to loose and lots to gain. I really hope we'll be able to play on their frustration. When you're the home team and you can't score, then you get rowdy, and you start shouting at each other, getting yellow's et cetera.

If we play well enough to frustrate them, if Daniel provides Smeltzy with good balls as he usually does, and if we can get the opener, then they will have to push harder, and that's when our counter attack should strike!

Think about it: that's pretty much how we lost all the games this season. We concede early, then we either attack some more and concede again (only to find the back on the net in the 91') or we find the equalizer, but then we end up loosing again.

If we could play that way, then I reckon we could come home with all the 3 points

I'd be more than happy to come away with a draw from this one.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

The TAB is paying $6.50 for a Phoenix victory, which I think is way too much

which is why I'm going to bet at least $20 on the Nix. Plus might put another $20 on us winning 3-1. It sounds weird but I got a feeling.

We win 3-1 and I'm "shirts off for the boys" from the start in the Prawn Zone* at the game against Sydney on November 17.  (*Aisle 28 - where they generally don't "Stand Up for the Phoenix" - boofheads.)

The 'nix can beat any time in the league, and so I believe they will beat Adelaide on Sunday.

If we sort out the defence we are fine, but that's easier said than down - especially with Dodd suspended.

Predictions:

We score first through Shane Smeltz
Halftime: 1-0 Wellington
Travis Dodd equalizes midway through the second half. 1-1.
Ross Aloisi gets the winner after a goal mouth scramble.
Wellington win 2-1.

Go the Phoenix!

I'd be absolutely stoked to get anything from the game. Adelaide are the most talented team in the league and seem to be hitting their straps, while we'll have a young centre-half combination who haven't played much together. If pushed to predict the score, I'll say 3-1 Adelaide but I really, really hope I'm wrong.

Hanging out for Felipe to come back. His combination with Daniel was pretty awesome when it's firing and with the Locker's  / Daniel combo starting to show some good instinct I think it might pave the way for a pretty dynamic right switch if Alrich and Felipe can strike up some rapport. Maybe this might take the heat off of Smeltzy so he can sneak a few easier lines than what he has had to lately.

However, I agree el grapadura what we have seen of the recent AU games they are pretty snappy so it could be real end to end stuff.

If the D holds up on the fast break for this one I think Ross and Brownie are working pretty hard in the slower ball situations

Nix 2-1
