An interesting article on the a-league website: "I wanted to quit football"

I, for one, am glad Ernie reached out to him. Despite his other 'issues' he's still one of the better A-League performers.

Doing a good job for us. Could well have another year in him.

I like him for what he does to Hard News.

I suppose it just goes to show that its better to leave decision making to the people employed to do the job, rather than to enthusiastic amateurs....

Turning out to be a smart piece of business with Burns out for the next couple of weeks as well. Leaves some experience up top with Krishna.

He was incredibly lucky not to get a couple of yellows vs Perth.  Retaliation and handling the referee.

I thought he was actually quite poor against Perth; gave the ball away under no pressure quite a few times. Don't think his fitness is quite there yet.

Ernie mentioned that his fitness isn't up to the level they want yet in the post match press conference

That is odd considering all he was doing at Newcastle was fitness work.

Think you're mistaken if you suggest Newcastle's fitness regime is as good as ours.

...and... 'fitness work' does not equal 'match fit' either.

Phoenix fans. We have to win them over one fan at a time.

or to put it another way, he has a reaction problem, and 70% of the league is lucky not to get cards for handling the ref....

They did not train with the team, wanted do quit football, sounds like a bit running around and stretching to not breach contract.

Anyone notice on the Nix website that they have Griffiths as our 4th top scorer with 4 goals?

Because some Hards News fans don't rate him, they count his goals double? They may count Jet goals?

must of scored a few for newcastle before the bust up.

Haha surely they shouldn't count, especially when 2 of them were against us..

He has scored 4 A-League goals this season.  One for us the balance for the Jets

Pretty poor today, should've scored that chance in first minute.

He had one of the better performances - heavily targeted by Sydney throughout. But yeah shouldve scored

In a team that didnt perform his wasnt the worst by along shot.

no but a lethargic effort for someone playing for a career to continue..or maybe not.  Agreed he should have scored..we "should" have been 2-2 early on.

Disagree.

I thought he was one of the better players in the team today.  Made some good passing decisions (unlike just about everyone else).

Ran some nice angles to create some passing options.

I would have put him ahead of Roly for MOTM.

Was particularly decent when he moved into the traditional strikers role in the 2nd half. Think that suits him more than out wide.

It's not that I don't rate him as a player, I just dislike his persona on the pitch.  The stats don't lie about his quality as an A-League player he just has a long history of being a cod on the field.

I swear when they did the player line-up before the game, the announcer introduced Griffiths as being "sponsored by Hard News".  Cracked us up.

Possibly Hutt News in retrospect though?

Nope, it was on purpose to wind up Hard News.

Damn it. Wish I was there to see his face.

And they kept replaying it on the big screens. We all could see how bad it was, why do that?

So Dewhurst could keep going on about it. He should have shut up and let the picture speak for itself. He really is a fudgeing awful commentator

So we could all keep on feeling the pain. Any of us whom have had a knee injury can relate to that site. What I remember was not so much the injury itself, but the pain when the knee went back into place.

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!
