That second half wasn't as bad as most are suggesting. we're forgetting one thing. Adelaide were actually playing quite well considering they were missing some of their important players. Credit where it is due, Adelaide did well. Owusu was a constant menace and out jumping pretty much everyone.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

This thread has 7 hours left, as does the other one.

Next time, find the old threads (started every fortnight) and use one of them.

KTHXBI.

?

Why close an 11 page thread (not this one) that is still being posted on?

Because I feel like it

Because people were too lazy to look for the last thread

Because no one is using match threads

Because the forum has become full on angsty stupid

A million reasons.

At this stage the other one won't be closed but may be re-titled, and any further threads will.  If people just continue to post the same blinkered clap trap in it over and over again then I reserve the right to shut it down.

It's called having an opinion guys - just because I disagree with yours I don't write them off as 'stupid'.

Good to see you continuing the constructive arguments though.

Its probably6 a fair call from HN. It seems that every week, win or lose a "sack RH" thread starts up,then something similar to this thread to counter it. It does get annoying, and kind of boring (yet here i am still posting in them...)

I've personally never been coached by Ricki -so I'll sit on the sidelines here

Well I've not seen one this season. I vaguely remember one last season but I wasn't going to spend ages trawling back to find it when I could just start a more relevant thread myself.

As for never having been coached by Ricki so having no opinion, I doubt club owners and chairmen around the world have ever been coached by the managers they sack either.

This is at least the 4th this season, and all they are generally are about 3 people screaming loudly that Ricki MUST go and everyone else disagreeing.

None of those proposing it ever put up a viable alternative, none of those proposing it see any of the players as liable for some blame.

Sure, there are a couple of decisions that I don't agree with from Ricki every once in a while, but by the same token I don't see anyone else in the A-League who is less likely to make the same errors or have the same difference of opinion with my views.

It strikes me that some people expect Barcelona on a Phoenix budget without accepting that we're not going to be able to buy a title like the Gold Coast and we're not going to be able to run out and sign Lionel Messi when we have a gap in the squad.

Yeah, we only drew on Friday but we're unbeaten in a long run at home and we were unlucky not to get an extra two points in two of our 5 matches.  In fact one of those games the fact we got one point was due to our coach (the one a minority want sacked) making a tactical change that took one of our bogey teams apart for 45 minutes in searing heat at their park.

Well I've never started such a thread before, or even mentioned it before so in the words of Shaggy, "it wasn't me".

I do think certain players are liable for some of the blame too, I just think even the ones who are doing their bit aren't being deployed correctly.

I don't expect football like Barcelona, far from it, but I do expect at least 2 up front in the 2nd half of a game we'd been doing ok in and should be pushing on to win.

I was very hopeful after that 2nd half display in Brisbane, but we've not gotten close to that in the 2 games since then.

In summary, I simply think we are too defensive, at home and away, it's not getting us enough points, it's not getting us enough goals, and it's not attracting new fans, as evidenced on Friday.

These are simply my opinions and I cannot pretend otherwise just to keep everyone sweet on here.

A response like Hard News above is fair enough and I respect his opinion, it's the posters who simply say "you are stupid / this thread sucks" etc without backing up their arguments that get to me. I could've easily just said 'Sack Ricki' and given no reason for why I think that way, but I have tried to provide reasoned arguments and some kind of respect for the opinions of others (whether you agree or disagree with them) around here wouldn't go amiss.

Thing i dont get,is you say we play too defensively...but on friday we were the only side playing any kind of attacking football. By that logic the adelaide coach shouldve been sacked at halftime

and that is the point HN is making, just cos you can't be bothered doesn't mean you can go and break the rules and start a new thread on a topic that has been thrashed out before.

This. Exactly. But Steve-O will probably say they were away from home, so they did well by drawing blah blah.

And this would be the truth! They were struggling for players and away from home - they got a draw (which Vidmar said he would be happy with before the game) = job done for them.

The onus is on the home team to attack, don't you understand that?

If you think that 2nd half was 'attacking football', then I'm not sure how much attacking football you've seen.

Besides, I'm not just talking about Friday, I'm talking about all the time. Out of the ten 45 minute halves of football we've played this season, we've attacked with some reasonable purpose in about 4 of them maximum.

I looked for an old thread on the subject, I could not find it. What is the point of dredging up a thread from a year ago?
