Yes, thanks Ricki, 5 points out of 15 is simply wonderful - perhaps you should consider going for the Man Utd job once Fergie retires on this kind of form... Steve-O2009-09-05 12:44:49

Like it how he has got the midfielders interchanging positions at times. Makes us a lot less predictable.

I like seeing Ricki up off the bench and getting involved. I reckon the boys respond to a bit of passion from their coach.

haha I don't mind Ricki. He is really great for NZ football. Still have issues with him coaching both squads but he is a good coach and has made some great signings fro the club

I too like the "roaming" midfield roles, it does give the oppo plenty to think about. A tad unlicky last night with the final official score but I hope Ricki poerseveres with this line up home and away, they showed a lot of good things and tried some that didn't quite work, probably through lack of practice. I really cant believe some of the negativity on here. Does nothing ever make some happy or do they get off on continually moaning. I'd like to see them on the park doing it "their way".

Tonight ricki, you got it pretty much right, except for Diego, but that wasn't your fault.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

and your expecting how many from the first 5 games?
We have an unbeaten record of 8 straight at home, continue that and nick a few points fom the away game sand we are well in contention.

Queenslander 3x a year.

The guys had to help start a club from scratch and as a team we've made good progress up the table the last two seasons and we're doing alright so far this season(imo)
I think Ricki needed a couple of seasons to understand the week in week out role of a professional manager, he like the Nix are a work in progress but it's all looking good i reckon.

Yep and considering this season he's had to pretty much rebuild the side with so many leaving. Plenty of games to go but it is starting to gel and in certain areas, it's looking great (Ifill & Greenacre).

Er, more than 33% of what was available perhaps?

If you think 5 points from 15 is good, then we're in for a long season. Well I am anyway, you'll be in for a good one if you think 1 point from every 3 is good going.

Don't forget we've got a game next week at a ground we've never won on (have we ever taken a point?) so we could be at 5 from 18 after the next round - wooden spoon form.

1-1 in season 1, great finish from Vince Lia.

Well, I'd take a point next week - although I think Melbourne are garbage this season and if we went for it, we could win. Alas the chances of really 'going for it' appear slim.

Agree LG  I think Ricki did get it right last night.
The players themselves need to take responsibility for their missed opportunities. So many good opportunities went begging.
Good to see the team playing with spark and urgency,if they could lock this way of playing in as a habit, have the same attacking mindset every time they ventured on to the pitch, how different things might be.
Great to see Ricki off the bench and marshalling the troops, great to be at Fortress ROF, loud and proud.

Improving,,on the up, a work in progress from Italiano and the Nix. Bring on the bathroom bling in '24! COYN!

Eh? Bit harsh! Some of us don't complain all the time...

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Are you serious? Did you watch the 2nd half on Friday? 'Spark and urgency'? Those are 2 of the very things that were lacking!

Should I be saying the people who don't agree with me on my thread are 'ruining it' though?
