Yep 8pm, I was under the delusion it was at 10pm for some reason an hour ago!

We can't take this Sydney side too easily. I'm glad that we've heard that from all the Phoenix in the media lately because tonight's game is going to be tough. I don't have the best feeling about it and I really hope I'm wrong.

Originally I was hoping that melbourne would have wrapped up the premiership before we got to them so they would field a relatively weaker side and give us a better chance but I can't see that happening now. Adelaide and Melbourne are fighting just as hard for 1 and 2 as we are for 4 and 5. our only hope is that we take out a weaker adelaide at home

Yeah they do. As recently as 30 minutes ago, Sky are still advertising it as 10pm even though their TV Guide says 8pm. The KO has never changed; it's been an 8pm kick-off since the fixtures were announced before the start of the season. I reckon someone at Sky got told 8pm and assumed that was local time, so added two hours without checking.

That seems like a good assumption

I'm really hoping this isn't another Sky screw up. I've seen them advertise a few games in their TV guide and on adverts at wildly inaccurate times.

No it's not. We're not in a race with Sydney, we're in a race with CCM and Queensland.

A 6 pointer is when you're playing someone with whom you're in direct competition for a league place. Example: say you're level with them before playing them - win and you're 3 points ahead of them; lose and you're 3 points behind i.e. a differential of 6 points in your race with that particular club. That's a 6 pointer.

Tonight's match with Sydney is a standard 3 pointer, but potentially season-defining.

gee what a bunch of grannies. as much as I sometimes subscribe to the hoodoo thing..I think if we are good enough for play offs we'll beat them. Brown, Bertos, Hearfield and Smeltz all a chance for goals, and if we had brought Daniel on not Kwasnik we would have held a point IMO in that last loss against the Roar.

Be interesting to see Ricki's tactics today.

Would dearly love the 3 here.

Adelaide playing Wednesday against the Roar and we'd want QLD to lose, just to create another avenue...though it's hard to see QLD missing the cut with Sydney and Perth at home to finish.

We'll talk more after the game which is just about to start, but....

Adelaide will seal a top-two spot if they beat QLD on Wednesday = maybe a slightly weakened team to play us?

Melbourne play Perth tonight and a win there would give them a stranglehold of a top-2 position, which could be confirmed with a game against CCM on Friday.

So there is still a chance.

Yeah, assuming the win tonight, its good to know we can see how CCM go next week and hopefully we can pick up a point or 2 there. IE if they lose we draw = the point we need, or they draw we win =2. And then we only need to match them for the last game, away to melbourne for us and them at home to adelaide, a reverse of next weeks fixtures. Tense times. Its in our own hands if we keep winning. And we definitly cant lose.
Oh Wellington is wonderful. We got the wind, the rain and the phoenix. Oh Wellington is wonderful.

I'd argue that definition of a 6 pointer - IMO it's when Team A are 3 points in the table ahead of Team B going into the fixture. If Team B wins they end up on the same points, it team A wins then they are 6 points ahead of team B.

So now we can't afford to lose either of the final two games.

We can beat Adelaide at home and Melbourne should beat CCM at home, so there's every chance this will go down to the final week. The problem is not losing away to Melbourne. Still, Melbourne will have top spot wrapped up by then (if they win tonight and against CCM and we beat Adelaide). For this scenario to work out for us, it would be useful for Adelaide to face CCM needing points, so now we want Queensland to beat Perth and Sydney.

To surmise, we want:
- Melbourne to beat Perth
- Queensland to draw with Adelaide
- Melbourne to beat Central Coast
- Queensland to beat Sydney
- us to beat Adelaide
- us to avoid defeat to Melbourne
- Queensland to beat Perth
- Adelaide to beat Central Coast

Does that work?

Go back to school you little negative twat.

The gap is now 3 points so we need to close 4.

Therefore, if CCM win one of their two games, we can't make it.
If they draw either or both, and lose the otherwe must win 2.
If they lose 2 then we still need to draw 1 and win 1.

So most simply, and likely, is that they can't win and we have to win both.

The good news is we are still alive AND CCM PLAY BEFORE US NEXT WEEK. so if they lose or draw and we win we are alive going into the final round. Keep believing

I thought it was a 10pm ko, and missed it! - d'oh - watched Hitman instead.

Anyway - that gives Sydney a sniff of a chance - they have QLD and Jets in their next 2 games - if they win both of them - and Nix & CCM lose both their games to ADL & Victory, it'll put Sydney in 4th place on 29 pts (to CCM's 28)

Nix need at least 4 points from their next 2 games & CCM to lose both, or 3 points scoring more than 13 goals. We need ADL and MEL to get cricket scores against CCM to help us.

Rnd 20
CCM v MEL
NIX v ADL
SYD v QLD

Rnd 21
CCM v ADL
NIX v MEL
SYD v NEW
QLD v PER

Fair call, that's another valid example. What I mean to illustrate is that Sydney were not Team A or Team B. Team A and Team B are us and CCM. Therefore our game with Sydney is not the 6 pointer.

Agreed. It would be useful for Queensland to keep the pressure on Adelaide, so that CCM don't get a less than motivated opposition in week 21. And for Melbourne to win their next 2 games so they don't need any result against us.

Yeah they are valid factors that will make it a little easier for us to win and CCM to not.

In saying that, we lost to a very young inexperienced Sydney team tonight, and we (Hearfield) was the one loking immature
