I think the bigger issue will be ticket prices next season.

There will be higher unemployment, lower consumer confidence and job security will be an issue for many, particularly Wellington based public servants.

In a climate of general belt tightening and uncertainty, ticket prices will need to be very carefully thought about - personally I think they should be held for a year at current levels.

Thanks for the research  but another thing to know that the prices of the other clubs are GA and not a reserved seat like ours.

I think they need to drop the ticket prices a bit, I am sure they were much better priced last year.

The one thing I think is the most retarded - the f**king car park prices at the Stadium.

$7 a day for a car park in there, but it suddenly goes up to $30 a park when the Phoenix games are on. That's f**king price gouging.

It's a sad day when the car park is half empty and people have to walk for miles in the wind/rain to get to the football, because Wilson Parking are a bunch of t**sers.

Stadium Management and Tony P need to sort out the parking prices, they fill that up then there will be twice as many people attending.

General admittance tickets at a football game? Get out of here!

I was under the impression they weren't allowed general admittance tickets for A-League games.

????? You park along Thorndon Quay. You don't have to pay for any parking when the games are on and it's about 1k closer than Tory street

Not our call we dont get any revenue from it and it is the stadium's domain. I agree they are hefty but the stadium is close to trains and the city so you dont have to park there.

You might have to slip in a few coins until 8p on a Friday night - so $4. On Saturday it's free after 5 or 6pm. There's no towing away for parking in metered spots anyway, just a ticket, but the games don't coincide with the meters.

Park around Parliament or the Back Bencher. That's where I go and its free after 8 on Fridays (not really help there but I doubt a parking warden would be around) and free on the weekends.

Always a park somewhere around there.

Friday's train Story:

1 - 6:12 train arrives at 6:30. Late to game.
2 - Train Guard won't sell us stadium tickets unless we show her our game tickets, luckily we have seasons, everyone else though was out of luck. How do you show the ticket before you get their and buy it? And as if the 20 odd people with phoenix gear weren't enough to provetheir is an event on.
3 - Tickets were wrong price to everyone on board, including the old couple who rung up before they got on the train.
4 - After making us show the game tickets, she gives us a normal train ticket. This means we have to goto the ticket office before the game and buy tickets so we can get through the gates at the end.
5 - I'm completely pissed off with this arse whipe dude at the ticket office, who then checks our IDs to see if we're students. (We don't look anything like Adults) Then has goes all nato cause we didn't say please, to which our reply, "its your f**king train guards fault we're here in the first place " to which he finally gives us the bloody tickets.

Useless things. They cost to much to.

The parking at the stadium is a complete rip off and i would not be surprised to see Whoever it is running the show making a guest appearance on "Fair go" If it is Wilsons, it would not be their first appearance, they've made several in the past.

On the other side of the road where the bridge over aotea quay is located, they charge $20 a park. At the last game before Christmas or the last game of the season they drop it to $10, entering into the spirit.

Along from the stadium back towards the station on aotea quay is a small car park that charges $15 .

When we had the sunday games, I parked up by the BB and the High Court for free.

The Stadium Trust (Those anonymous names) need to address this Parking CON - They know it's a rip off, perhaps they need to make a guest appearance on "Fair Go" too!! And whilst they're at it, sort that f**king sh*t stadium food out!

I'm getting the impression from  the above posts that transport issues could have an adverse effect on people coming to the ROF.
Although I don't think its the major reason we aren't getting the crowds-the main ones of
i) the economic downturn and
ii) team not performing consistently
apply to all A-League teams this season.
Imho, a key advantage for any Phoenix match staged at the ROF is ease of access, where being able to
conveniently park or catch a train to the foot of the stadium should be a seamless, effortless and affordable experience.
Surely stadium management and the GWRC can realise that by making parking and train ticketing more affordable more people are likely to use the services, AND purchase product in their concession outlets (food, drink etc) along the way.
Perhaps for next season the Phoenix Management could negotiate with both parties  sponsorship agreements to make parking and train travel attractive and more affordable, either in the form of cheaper tickets week to week for every home match, and/or transport concessions for parking and train travel with every Phoenix season ticket renewal.
In the case of access from the station to the ROF on match days perhaps someone can clarify what is required by station authorities and post it on here, so every one knows.
...just a thought!

I'm pretty sure the price of the stadium parking is deliberate - the whole point of building the stadium where it was was to allow easy access by public transport.  Easy access by train, bus, and from central city, walking.  We drive in from Palmy, normally park up at Paraparaumu  station, train in from there.  Running late this time, found a park in a Wilson pay and display lot on Customhouse Quay, $4 and a 10 minute walk to our seats.  Easy as that.  If you can't walk 10 minutes to the game you've got bigger issues than most.  (I'm sure arrangements are/can be made for disabled parking for those with mobility cards so I doubt thats an issue)

Would not catch the 6:12 and expect 100% to be at the game, we always try and allow at least 1 1/2 hours.  Makes life a whole lot less stressful!

The price of a family ticket is actually $67 + booking fee, not sure were you got the $60 from.

Last year this price was only $50 so a 34% increase and you wonder why the crowd numbers are down.

The stadium, as a football ground, sux.
Until The Nix have an a league future past 2011 we can't do much, but after that how about something like this http://www.worldstadiums.com/stadium_pictures/europe/united_kingdom/england/yorkshire_humber/doncaster_keepmoat.shtml
15,000. A real football stadium with the fever going off, , now the would give people an experiance to come back to.

the staduim is the only ground that welllington has that meets FFA standards. Its been mentioned before.

As for people moaning about parking costs.....get over it!i park at the james cook on the terrace, its a 10 minute walk and costs $3 on the weekends! Either that there are parks a few hundred metres from the stadium which cost $4. Why do you need to park so close, you have legs use them - and besides its not the phoenix's call to charge $30.00 when they play, its like that fo all events at the stadium! talk to wilsons and quit moaning on here!

The Wellington City Council and Wellington Regional Council established the Wellington Regional Stadium Trust (WRST) under the Charitable Trusts Act 1957, to be responsible for the planning, development, construction, ownership, operation and maintenance of the Stadium as a multi-purpose sporting and cultural venue.  The Trust is also registered as a charity with the Charities Commission.

The Trust reports back to both Councils and holds an Annual General meeting which is open to the public (usually in October of each year).

The Trust has a Board of Trustees appointed by the two Councils.  The current Trustees are:

  • Paul Collins (Chair)
  • Sir John Anderson
  • David Bale
  • Liz Dawson
  • Michael Egan
  • Sue Elliott
  • Christopher Laidlaw
  • John Morrison

The Wellington Regional Stadium Trust has 17 permanent staff including the following:

  • Chief Executive Officer - David Gray
  • Commercial Manager - Linda Rieper
  • Finance Manager - Katherine Andersen
  • Marketing Manager - Steven Thompson
  • Membership & Corporate Box Manager - Gina Ward
  • Operations Manager - Mark Nunn
  • Turf Manager - Brett Sipthorpe
Got this off the stadium website i assume it is still current.
