Was a bit surprised tonight to be charged $5-$6 more than I was at the last home game for the exact same ticket...

Silver is now $34 and gold a quite outlandish $42! Was there any warning of this??

Not really the way to improve crowds I would suggest...

Don't you get a very good deal if you get tickets for Jam Tards and Tards games?

Yeah, that's what I thought!

A bit rude to put prices up halfway through a season though is it not?

Steve-O complaining? Well, I never..

The club is running at a loss. The only way to fix that is to bring more people in or raise the cost of tickets temporarily.

Hang on - last season weren't you going on about how reasonable Nix prices were compared with UK?

One thing tonight really got under my skin, and thats the fact that when we were scanning our tickets, we had to pull out our student I.D.s.

Sure thats fine and dandy, but we all have season passes and therefore had to provide proof when we purchased them at the start of the season.

The poor lady in front of me, who I have never met, was told that because she had no ID, she had to purchase an adult ticket, or stay out. Not sure if she did or not, but thats not really the point.

I was fine as I had mine, but to tell this lady she couldnt come in, was really unfair for me. We never received a previous warning about the matter or anything, so how was she to know that it was neccessary to provide ID twice.

I can see how this is fair for door sales etc but members, really?

At least send us an email or something???

It's an A-League wide thing I think - some Melbourne fans complained too. They are trying to curb people paying for Child/Concession tickets or season passes when not entitled and thus losing the clubs+league as a whole sh*tloads of money.valeo2010-11-24 22:29:48

Yes that was a good deal but I can't make Saturday's game.

As for the others saying it's a whinge, I just make the comment that it's hardly usual for any business to bump up prices by 20% without any prior warning.

And, if people are put off by the prices, then it's hardly the way to recoup losses.

I got a warning last time.

They probably thought that everyone that went to the game tonight must have been at the game last time and so must know to bring ID. Pretty stupid to block her out.

Warning: Terms and conditions.

Checking of IDs at the gate: So that you don't buy a season pass at the start of the season with your ID,then hand it off to someone who doesn't have an ID.

And no,you didn't have to provide ID when purchasing them anyway (well my friend and I didn't).

Like at the cinema. We check IDs when you buy the tickets for R rated films, then again before you go into the cinema,in case someone with ID purchased the ticket, then handed it off to someone who didn't have ID.

Common sense. And good on them.

yeah i understand this, and its a fair thing.

But for the members, they needed a warning at least. Now uni is over for most, I can understand why they weren't carrying it.

Maybe set up a verification system so us members wont have to show it every time?

So did you get a letter from your local dairy telling you that milk was going up?

FFS - everyone knew GST was increasing.  You're just ignorant to think that tickets to a sporting event wouldn't.

$25 is one thing, $34 is another.

Prices are now creeping up towards SPL prices, in fact gold tickets for Phoenix are now the same price as some SPL games, and probably some EPL games as well.

Well my mate didn't have his, me and my other mate did and he was lucky to get in he had to go back out go talk to someone and then they finally let him in, apparently they were keen on taking his season ticket off him . Oh and if you want guards on the gate they still need them on the aisles which tonight they didn't have. Under staffed much.

How would that work?

Person with ID goes to the first game...Then hands it off to someone without ID for the rest of the season?

Good one.

You're seriously complaining that they're finally doing their job?

Photo on Season tickets, If its not your photo on ticket you need ID problem solved. - they can still check tickets at the gate, but ID wouldn't be needed only at original purchase.CboZ2010-11-24 22:35:28

Sorry, I thought GST went up by 2.5%? I must've misread it and it went up by 25% did I?

Phoenix are quoting prices on Hard News' link there that are not true.

I will repeat, silver tickets were $34 and gold tickets were $42 for tonights game only.

I did not buy a double ticket as had I bought a silver double ticket, it would've cost me $42.

Thats pretty bad...If they took my pass off me just because I didn't have ID,I'd be pissed.

Pretty sure they have no right to do that also.

Are you forgetting about the booking fee?  The match ticket is $28 which I think is pretty similar from last year IIRC

Its not very practical though. But yeah that would work.

Even then, theyd have to manually check your ticket vs manually check your ID. But i suppose it saves people who may have forgotten their ID or lost it.

Theyd just have to go into a ticketek office to purchase their season pass. Currently you can just do it from home (without even having to show ID),same as buying single match tickets.

So itd still happen, but at least would help a couple of people if they were willing to take the time to go to ticketek and maybe pay a little extra, just so they dont have to bring their ID to every game.

Summary : Cant see many people bothering. The benefit doesnt really outweigh the hassle and cost.

Isn't the whole point of ID that the picture is you so you can't hand it off?

Sure they are doing their jobs, which isn't what bothers me. But it'd have been nice to receive an email telling me im going to need it on me from now on. Zero cost for them. easy solution.

Because they havnt done it all season, so lots of members may not expect it and how should they have known??

Seriously, I don't know why everyone is going on about that link Hard News posted. I did NOT buy a double pass!

I will scan the ticket on here if that's what it takes - it was $32 + $2 booking fee = $34.

I looked at the prices a couple of times because I had $30 in my hand and was surprised when I was asked for $34.

Fair point,they could have emailed.

But you can't get angry at them for doing their job.

They were probably relying on word of mouth from the warnings they gave out last game.
