Tim Payne
I don't see why he would return. What I meant is that he intends to stay in the States, even if the trial goes wrong there are lots of other teams
He's trialling at Rochester Rhinos (USL), so won't be back to NZ
Interesting, but the best read is just after.
The last new face out on the field for Rochester is Wal Fall, a defender with experience is the German regional leagues & Austrian 2nd div.
Wonder if he was born in Berlin?
He won't be back in NZ if the trial goes well.
Is the money ok at that level!
Were does he play now??
Hearing he is heading back to Auckland. Eastern Suburbs in particular.

E. Suburbs could have a decent squad put together, made up of Auckland-based professional rejects (that is rejects from pro clubs, not people who are professionals at being rejected).
Left with such hype... sad end.

Funny as, but sadly sums up so many kiwi footballers.
gee thanks
Ufuk is about to bring the PAYNE to the other teams.

Ouch! He's worked so hard to nail down a starting spot with the Nix, he's pretty much a key player for his club and country and does something so stupid, shame.
He's still young of course, but a DUI conviction is a serious offence and he'll likely have to declare it for the next few years when he goes abroad. Wouldn't be surprised to see the Nix come down hard on him, given that he's put them in a real spot of bother with the Australian and NSW government.
Love the kid, but this is silly stuff. Besides, you don't want to get a reputation for a party boy or someone who loves to drink a bit too much as that will reduce your employability and this stuff can sometimes turn into a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Hahaha, that's a pretty awesome story though.
What a fudgeing idiot.
They should terminate his contract tbh.
The golf cart thing is outstanding, less so the breaking quarantine. However, certainly not something to ruin the dudes career over - if we're paying Brandon Wilson I don't see how we'd justify getting rid of Payno.
And i thought the Nix had a 'No Dickheads' policy.
And i thought the Nix had a 'No Dickheads' policy.
I think that has always applied to "don't be a dick to your teammates" rather than "don't be a dick in general". Whosoever among you has not been a dick in your life at some stage, cast the first testicle.
And I agree that Brandon Wilson has done MUCH worse.
Damn I missed Piney's interview with Tim Payne this morning on Radio Sport. Did anyone hear it?
Honestly if it's true as reported (massive if!), I wouldn't be upset if the club sacked him. This is a massive failing. The club and the league would have had to go through so many discussions and agreements, jump through hoops, with strict protocols. Quarantine is not something to be messed with, and it is massively embarrasing to the club.

Agreed, I mean... we did sign Joel Griffiths at one stage so that certainly fits the bill.
Also re: Wilson, I don't see how having consensual group intercourse and not paying for someone's taxi fare after compares with breaking self-isolation rules in another country, stealing and damaging property and potentially getting arrested in the process. Don't want to re-open the whole Wilson discussion so that's my final word on the matter.
At least the Nix statement says he wasn't actually charged with anything, including DUI, so that's a plus.
But Domey must be fuming. After all the hard work that went into moving the team to NSW, that's the last thing he needs.
Also its highly likely that if anymore of this season's A-league is to be played, it will be in Australia and the team will have to self isolate beforehand. If I were the Australian or State or governments there is no way i'd be letting the Nix in now...
I actually wonder if it will affect his ability to travel to Australia on the future at all.

It's a good point. I wouldn't expect for example, any tourists here being caught not self isolating being welcomed back.
He's not the first Nix player to be busted on the booze in Aus. Richard Johnson did the same in 2007 and was given an 8 month suspended sentance.

Johnson is Australian though.
Geez guys, we've done a day of lockdown in our homes, with our families in our own country. Give it a couple of weeks and see how well you're doing.
I'm not excusing anything, but the situation they're in is far beyond ordinary pressure. It's a mistake and a bad one, but lets take a breath and let Domey and Uffie show us what they think and how they want to handle it.

It's very very stupid though. They were in a pretty 'soft lockdown' situation, together as a team, and being able to blow off pent up energy training.
Plus they had been in lock down, what just over a week.
And yeah not to reopen the Wilson debate either, but he effectively refused to pay a girl's cab fare. Not smart either, but Payne's discretion is worse especially given whole Covid pandemic, and fact yes Nix could well have to return later this year to try again if allowed.

""He was charged with a drive middle-range PCA and will appear before a Manly Local Court on June 10.""

bang on. Feel for the family. Don’t think he should have a harsh punishment at all, such as suspension, perhaps courses and a fine - has conducted himself very well since.

Also the drink driving is probably not the main concern in this.

Depending on what charges and convictions he ends up with in Australia, and what that means for his visa status, it may end up out of the clubs hands
