Apparently flights are really expensive  so would be nice if some sort of deal is arranged.

Just got our advisory from FFA about ticket sale arrangements but given the " Curse of Cronus"  which afflicted the Nix in both Perth / Melbourne in January, we have magnanimously decided to stay away.

I think the Nix will thank us for it ...

The airlines will put more flights on, so keep an eye out as they will have cheap seats too.
Permalink Permalink

Don't think we're going to have time to organise any packages but we're talking to folks now about what can be done to get more seats available.

Don't rely on us for flights at this stage though.

Yeah, it'd be nice if AirNZ had a spare 737 they could take a plane load over on Saturday and back Sunday for the game.

I think you'll find any deals will be done through Qantas being A-League and FFA sponsors.

Good point!  A bit harder for them to add capacity unless they can borrow a plane for the weekend.

Leave Christchurch 6am Saturday to Sydney & Return Sunday at 7pm $427 flying Pacific Blue.

Bloody tempting but would then have to take the Mrs and my son + accomodation so looking at close to $2000. I might tell the Mrs that I'm going tramping in the bush for the weekend & go on my own

I'm not making it this weekend but this is the one time being an out of two supporter would pay off.
Round trip Akl - Syd, leaving Friday returning monday =$430
Replace Akl with Wel and you're looking at $626

I didn't check times on either

www.tripadvisor.com has reviews and good rates thru sites such as expedia.  Theres a campground on an island in the middle which is cheapish..

http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/football/3419183/Phoenix-fans-wanted-in-Sydney

The Wellington Phoenix could have a significant chunk of their vocal fanbase cheering them on in Sydney if moves by team management are successful.

Phoenix chief executive Tony Pignata is attempting to put a deal together with A-League sponsor Qantas in a bid to boost the capacity on flights to Sydney for the weekend's preliminary final against Sydney FC.

Call me selfish but I hope it's too expensive, or I'll want to go and should really be saving my money.

Or I hope it's damn cheap and I can go without breaking the bank.

Sweet looking forward to hearing more about this. I'm sure its going to be way out of my price range though.

Seems the airlines could be trying to gauge whether it's worthwhile putting on a bigger plane and may need an indicator of interest. Perhaps there may be some way of expressing this to them via the club through the Forum.

Any suggestions?

If we can do this, I guess it would only be fair to have genuine expression of interest. You should allow $1000 for the trip all up (fare / transfer / accom / ticket / food / booze)

What about a boat ?
If we leave from Island Bay on  Wednesday morning I reckon that   with enough of us taking turns rowing we should be in Sydney by Saturday and what's more we would be guaranteed to pick up a Halberg award  next year!
