Ramon has to be the #1 candidate. Tried to get a job at Brisbane, so obviously wants to be in the A-League. I figure he will always have Auckland City as a fall back option too.

I think I'll be quite disappointed if it isn't Ramon to be honest.

Do we know if there are any restrictions based on qualifications for head coaches in the A League?

Someone has already changed Ramon's wiki page to Wellington Phoenix :0

Unless it's someone out of the box I haven't heard of I agree.  If it's a recycled A League commentator/ ex manager I will be incredibly disapointed.

Yeah even if it was say, an older coach with experience in top flight European football, I'd have reservations about him because you'd have to question why they were coming for a job like this. Whereas Ramon not only knows the local context but also obviously has a point to prove in terms of establishing a career coaching pro football.

I guess one question with Ramon is how well does he know the ins and outs of the A-league. There are a tonne of restrictions and loopholes to navigate. Obviously he can learn this, but it would be good if he understood it straight away if he came in.

I assume he did his research prior to applying for the Brisbane job.

A-League rules change every fudgeing year willy nilly anyway.

Player agent

(If you know it won't happen then why mention?)

Hey there's a whole thread about Wharf getting promoted but we all knew that wouldn't happen...

Too soon?

apparently a couple of coaches from Korea have applied, but the timing suggests local.

In all the interviews by "experts" and media speculation that I heard and read in the immediate aftermath of Ernies resignation, I remember someone saying that Ramon and Welnix were not on good terms and so he was unlikely to be chosen. I can't remember who it was or how credible they were.

Regardless, the person hired needs to be able to work with the youngsters and help push forwards the academy program like Ernie did, because our monopoly on NZ players is our biggest advantage and key to our success.

It's Australian media speculation, they're going to push their agenda. We can't afford to take a risk we will run out of time.

Highly, highly likely it will be Ramon Tribulietx after his return from the Club World Cup, although that's the one thing I couldn't get a definitive answer on when I asked on Friday night.

Gonna make the Yellow Army chant a bitch though.

Morrison nearly appointed someone during the week but held off on the advice from the senior players.

I already posted more than I should've in the Merrick resigning thread.

If Ramon is truly going to be the next coach and they're just waiting as a sign of respect or some sort of PR move for Ernies sake then I'd rather they didn't because it's going to take time for him to cement in place his systems, the next game is in Auckland so it's a ideal timing for him to come along and at least observe the team and have limited involvement in an official capacity while he's getting his affairs in order for a move south.

Cool thanks for sharing that.

I dont know enough about Ramon to 'want' him or not. But it would be good to see someone get the job who has come from our national competition just in terms of promoting pathways to professionalism.

I find it hard to think that Ramon and WelNix would have had enough to do with each other to be on bad terms. Maybe Ramon interviewed for the role previously and didn't get it and was pissed off but I really doubt that it could be much more than that. Or am I missing something?

Hmm... I wondered why no pre-season match between Nix and ACFC this year... and why City spent large taking the team to Melbourne...

But even if Nix/AC relationships are strained would it really be Ramon? Wouldn't it be Vuksich?

Is he annoyed that the 'Nix have taken a whole bunch of players from his squads?
